Chapter 8 - Nameless Sword

Nameless Sword

Danilo stared at the iron shield in his hands, his heart racing.

A crazy idea was beginning to form in his mind, so absurd that even he hesitated to try it. What if he was wrong? What if it was just paranoia? But… what if he was right?

He looked at his mother and sisters, all tense and confused.

— I want to test something… but I don't know if it'll work — he said, his voice firm, though heavy with anxiety.

His mother eyed him with suspicion.

— What are you going to do, Danilo?

He took a deep breath and raised the shield.

— Did you notice how the system rewards any "first time"? — he began to explain, his mind racing. — The first time someone left the village, they were rewarded. The first kill… too. Trivial things, yet they still gave out prizes.

The sisters exchanged glances. Their mother narrowed her eyes.

— So what are you planning?

Danilo didn't answer right away. He opened the system menu, his trembling hands sliding across the invisible air, and accessed the shop tab. Then he clicked on sell.

A window appeared before his eyes:

Would you like to sell the item [Used Iron Shield]?

The silence around him was suffocating. His own breathing echoed as if it were the only living thing at that moment.

— Yes — he replied.

In that instant, the shield vanished from his hand like smoke in the wind. His sisters gasped in fright, his mother covered her mouth.

Then, another notification flashed before his eyes:

Congratulations! You are the first citizen of Earth to trade an item.

Reward: [Bronze] Treasure Chest.

World Trade Channel unlocked.

Would you like to announce your name to the world?

Danilo froze for a moment. Then, a laugh escaped him, growing louder, echoing like a personal victory against the shitty fate that had given him nothing but a trash talent. He laughed wildly, unable to contain himself, while his family stared in shock.

— What was that!? — asked Fátima, eyes wide. — Why did the shield disappear!?

Danilo was still breathless, laughing, until he finally answered:

— I told you I wanted to try something… and it worked.

— But what exactly did you do? — asked his mother, bewildered.

He drew in a deep breath and explained:

— Since the system gave rewards for the most ridiculous things, like leaving the safe zone and the first kill, I wanted to test what would happen if someone traded an item.

— And did it work!? — asked Maria, excited.

— Look at me, darling! — Danilo answered arrogantly, pointing at himself. — Do you see anyone here who fails?

— So you really did it!? — asked Viviana, nearly standing up in excitement.

A smug smile was his only reply.

His sisters screamed in excitement all at once. Their mother, meanwhile, simply smiled faintly, happy with the result.

Soon after, the option to announce his name appeared before him. He, of course, wanted to say no. That kind of thing was reserved only for those from powerful families with prestige. But just as he was about to refuse, a thought crossed his mind:

"What if I used a false name? A name no one knows?"

He immediately asked the system if it was possible to change the name. The answer was clear: yes.

So he began to think of imposing, permanent names: Azura, Sword God, Sacred Sword, Immortal Sword…

But suddenly, reality hit him like a bucket of cold water. The true talent he possessed didn't allow for such grand names. Even if there was some chance of evolution because of his mother's Chaotic Heart, the materials required were unknown. And most likely, he would remain doomed to the label of a Class F talent.

— In the end… I'm probably condemned to be a nobody — he muttered to himself.

Then, a name came to his mind:

Unknown Sword.

Simple, mysterious, yet firm.

But at the very instant he decided to fix it, another name echoed in his mind, as if coming from a place beyond himself:

Nameless Sword.

And at that moment, a notification echoed directly into the minds of every single person in Earth's Divine Domain.
