I gazed at the name in annoyance. The strong urge to toss it back into the box filled me, but Elder Bernard's eyes were trained on me. I wonder if he knew I had picked his daughter's name and was contemplating changing it. I huffed, turning around to walk away, but bumped into someone.
"Watch where you're going…"
I glanced at the person, and my eyes widened.
"Cassie!" I stammered, blinking fast to be sure I wasn't seeing things. She died. I mean, I saw her take her last breath, but here she was…alive.
Cassie's face brightened in a broad smile, and she pulled me into a tight hug. I groaned, feeling the warmth of her body seeping through me.
Oh my god, she is alive!
I sagged against her in relief, with my arms wrapped tightly around her, and I sniffed back the tears gathering in my eyes. "How are you alive?" I asked, pulling out of the hug to stare at her again.
Cassie shrugged, "Long story short. Imogen and the beta saved me. She's pretty good."
