Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: First Encounter with Goku

After preparing the Power Level Detector, Tang En and Bulma also stocked up on a large number of Capsule Corp. capsules.

The capsules contained houses, cars, and a series of daily tools and food.

Once everything was ready, the two set off grandly toward Paozu Mountain, following the radar's guidance to search for the next Dragon Ball.

In the car, Tang En sat in the passenger seat.

Originally, Tang En was supposed to drive, but Bulma insisted on showing off her driving skills, so the driver's seat was left to her.

After three hours of driving, Bulma was still full of energy, while Tang En began to feel drowsy and soon fell asleep.

"Tang En, we're almost there."

Bulma turned to look at Tang En, only to find him asleep. She turned back and slowed down.

Just as Bulma rounded a bend, she glanced down at the radar. When she looked up again, she saw a figure ahead—carrying a large bird on its back.

"Ah!"

Bulma screamed and slammed on the brakes, but the car still hit the figure, sending them flying far away.

"Tang En, Tang En! Wake up! I hit someone!"

Tang En quickly woke up and rubbed his eyes.

What a coincidence—did she hit Goku again?Tang En then looked at the figure that had flown out—dressed in blue clothes, with a pole strapped to his back and spiky hair. It was unmistakably Sun Wukong.

But wasn't the prey behind him supposed to be a big fish? Why had it turned into a large bird?

He remembered these small details very clearly.

"Don't be afraid! I'm here," Tang En reassured Bulma as he held her hand.

Up ahead, little Goku stood up, gritting his teeth and saying:

"You nasty monster! Are you trying to steal my prey? I won't let you succeed!"

He then started walking over to teach this "car" a lesson. Seeing this, Tang En quickly called out to Sun Wukong:

"Hey! Wait a second! We're not monsters—this is just a misunderstanding!"

To his surprise, little Goku didn't listen at all and instead prepared to lift the car and throw it.

Startled, Tang En quickly pulled Bulma out of the car. She clung to him, and once they were out, she immediately readied her gun to shoot at Sun Wukong.

Tang En stopped her, knowing it would be useless.

A Saiyan's physique was simply unreasonable. With a battle power of just 10, Goku could easily withstand a small-caliber pistol—truly monstrous.

"Huh? Two more monsters came out of the monster's belly."

Little Goku set the car down, raised his Power Pole with both hands, and declared:

"Yah! Monsters, if you want my prey, come and get it! I'll take you on!"

Bulma trembled in fear, pressing tightly against Tang En.

"Tang En, what… what kind of monster is that? Go teach him a lesson for me!"

"Don't worry, he's human. Leave this to me."

Tang En walked toward little Goku, who stood ready, prepared for any attack.

"Uh, little guy, we're not bad people. It was just a misunderstanding earlier. My name is Tang En.

The one behind me is my friend Bulma. We're not monsters. So, what's your name?"

"I'm Sun Wukong. You're not here to steal my food?"

Just as he thought! He had met Sun Wukong so quickly—things were going smoothly.

Little Goku circled Tang En a few times, then lowered his Power Pole and said:

"You look a lot like me. You're the first humans I've met besides my grandpa."

"Grandpa always said that if I meet a girl, I should be gentle. Are you a girl?"

"Goku, I'm a boy, just like you. The one next to me, Bulma, is a girl," Tang En replied.

Little Goku was shocked. He hurried over to Bulma, circled her a few times, and said disdainfully:

"Ew? She looks really weak."

With Tang En by her side, Bulma wasn't afraid of the kid anymore and immediately shouted, "I'm a girl, of course I'm weaker!"

Tang En took the opportunity to check Goku's power level with his Scouter. Just as he expected—10, four points lower than his own.

"Huh, that's weird. Why don't you guys have tails?"

Little Goku spoke up, looking at his own tail and then at Tang En and Bulma. Before they could answer, he pointed at the car and asked:

"Is this monster something you caught?"

"It's not a monster. It's called a car," Bulma explained from the side."Oh? A car, so this is a car! I know about these! If you can drive a car, you must be city people like Grandpa mentioned!"

"That's right."

"Hey, come visit my place! I'll give you a special welcome!"

After saying this, little Goku lifted the large bird from the ground and pointed in a direction.

"Hey, Tang En, if his home is that way, it's exactly where the Dragon Ball is located," Bulma walked over and said to Tang En.

"That works out perfectly. Let's go visit his place together."

...

Soon, the group arrived at Goku's home.

"Wait here a moment."

Little Goku opened the door and suddenly saw the Dragon Ball inside glowing. He immediately ran up to it.

"Grandpa... Grandpa is speaking."

"Huh? Didn't your grandpa pass away... Wait? A Dragon Ball!"

Bulma grabbed the Dragon Ball and saw it was the Four-Star Ball. She shouted to Tang En:

"Tang En, look! It's a Dragon Ball!"

"Hey! Don't touch Grandpa!"

Little Goku snatched the Dragon Ball back and said to Bulma.

"Grandpa?"

"Yeah, this is the only keepsake Grandpa left me. Just now I saw it glow—he must be trying to tell me something."

Tang En interjected: "Goku, this is actually called a Dragon Ball. Look."

Tang En pulled out the two Dragon Balls they'd already collected and showed them to little Goku.

"It's Grandpa... do you have two grandpas?"

"No, these are called Dragon Balls. If you gather all seven, you can summon the Eternal Dragon and have any wish granted."

Little Goku looked at Tang En and murmured:

"Dragon Balls?"

"Right. The glow earlier was these Dragon Balls resonating with each other."

Tang En placed the three Dragon Balls together, and sure enough, they emitted a glow.

"Any wish at all?"

Little Goku crouched down, staring at the three Dragon Balls.

"Yep. I heard someone became king using them many years ago, though that was long ago. Now the Dragon Balls are scattered across the world again, waiting to be collected."

Bulma added.

"So you're here to collect Dragon Balls? I can't give you this one! Grandpa left it for me."

Seeing this, Tang En said to little Goku:

"Goku, why don't you come with us to search for the Dragon Balls? You could train along the way and get stronger!"

"Stronger? As strong as Grandpa?"

"Of course! Besides that, you'll see so many things—dinosaurs, monsters, cities, and the ocean. Don't you want to see them?"

Sun Wukong really began considering it, excitement shining in his eyes.

"Wow! That sounds amazing! Okay, I'll come take a look!"

Though Bulma didn't understand why Tang En wanted to bring this kid along, since they'd achieved their goal, she didn't complain. Besides, the kid was surprisingly strong—he might even be helpful.
