Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Tang En's Admirable Virtues

Noticing Ox-King's words, Turtle Hermit praised:

"Oh? Son Gohan's grandson, eh? Not bad, not bad."

Turtle Hermit nodded, sounding somewhat surprised.

"Right, didn't you know, Master Wu Tian?" Ox-King asked from the side.

Turtle Hermit tapped his back with his staff as he walked up to young Goku.

"Child, how is Gohan doing these days?"

Goku looked confused. "Grandpa... has already passed away."

"Passed away?" A brief glint flashed across Turtle Hermit's sunglasses before fading. However, the melancholy mood quickly dissipated, replaced by a natural ease, and he didn't even ask how he had died.

"Calculating his age, that kid was about due anyway. Ah, what a pity for such a fine young man."

"Goku, would you like to come train at my place? Given time, it's not impossible for you to surpass even me."

Turtle Hermit looked at the child before him. Goku's extraordinary talent and pure-hearted nature truly endeared him to the old master.

"Really? Great! I'll go after I finish finding the Dragon Balls!"

Little Goku replied excitedly, brimming with joy.

Tang En watched this scene without speaking.

He had once considered whether to become Turtle Hermit's disciple, but Tang En believed that as long as the Dragon Balls were used well, becoming the old master's student wasn't absolutely necessary.

If the Dragon Balls couldn't fulfill his expectations, he could always follow Goku to Turtle Hermit's place later—it wouldn't interfere with either plan.

Just then, Bulma, Oolong, and the others emerged from the ruins, their faces alight with excitement.

Sure enough, Oolong was holding a brand new Dragon Ball in his hand.

With this one, Tang En's group now had six Dragon Balls in total.

"Well then, we're off! Thanks for everything, goodbye!" Everyone climbed back into the vehicle as Bulma waved to Turtle Hermit and Ox-King.

Under the watchful eyes of Turtle Hermit and Ox-King, Bulma drove off in a cloud of dust.

"Only one Dragon Ball left now! I can't wait to see what the Eternal Dragon looks like!" Bulma said to Tang En.

Tang En smiled and nodded, then turned to Goku. "Goku, do you have any special wish you want to come true?"

"Huh? A wish? I haven't really thought about it. I just want to fight strong opponents," little Goku replied.

"What about you? I still don't know what your wish is," Bulma asked Tang En with great interest.

"Me? Hmm... I want to use the Dragon Balls to become stronger!"

"Stronger? Doesn't getting stronger come from training yourself?

Grandpa said that as long as I work hard, I'll keep getting stronger and stronger."

Little Goku looked at Tang En with confusion.

"You're right, Goku. Your grandpa was absolutely correct! As long as you're willing to put in the effort, there's nothing you can't overcome!"

Tang En skillfully changed the subject. Everyone was in high spirits now, and no one noticed the diversion.

After all, apart from Tang En, the others weren't particularly interested in making wishes—they were collecting the Dragon Balls purely for adventure.

Well... except for Oolong.

"But then again, everyone's talents are different. Goku, you're a born warrior, so naturally you wouldn't worry about these things.

Having come to this world, of course I'd want to possess earth-shattering power too."

This was Tang En's private thought. Over the years, he'd developed this much self-awareness.

Watching as little Goku was about to fall asleep in the vehicle again, Tang En felt not a trace of jealousy.

Only now did Tang En truly understand Goku's charisma—no wonder cosmic beings of all levels were willing to teach him, and even Zen-Oh wanted to be his friend.

The little Goku before him hadn't fully grown yet, hadn't reached the point where he could single-handedly protect Earth.

Yet his pure-hearted nature still made it impossible for Tang En to feel jealous.

"What a strange place. All the trees here look like mushrooms," Oolong remarked as he drove, looking around.

"Hey, Oolong! Are there any towns nearby?" Bulma asked."How would I know? I've never been here before either," Oolong replied.

"Damn it, the car's almost out of gas. What should we do?" Oolong looked at the fuel gauge and said to Bulma.

"Didn't I tell you to fill it up yesterday?"

"What? You said it wasn't a big deal!"

"Shut up, you big idiot!"

Thwack!

A sharp knock on the head!

"Ow! That hurts! You're so annoying! And don't call me an idiot!"

"What if I hit you again?"

"You're so mean!"

"Ahhh! Drive properly, you idiot!"

"Idiot? You just called me an idiot again!"

"What if I call you an idiot?"

"What did you say?"

"Ahhhhhh…"

Tang En watched indifferently as Bulma argued with a pig. He was already used to it. In the past, he might have tried to intervene, but now he just ignored it—after all, Oolong was always the one who ended up suffering.

"Hmm?"

Tang En had a sudden thought as he looked at Bulma's bunny girl outfit today. He suddenly remembered that there was supposed to be a storyline involving a Rabbit Gang leader here. This guy had the ability to turn people into carrots and had caused Goku quite a bit of trouble.

Tang En pondered for a moment, considering whether they should take a different route. After all, if they ran into the Rabbit Gang leader, he'd definitely be turned into a carrot—what a pathetic way to go.

But he quickly dismissed the idea. If something like this scared him, how would he ever face threats like Frieza or Majin Buu in the future? Besides, this was the real world—defeating the Rabbit Gang leader could save a lot of lives.

Finally, just before the car ran out of gas, they arrived at a small town. The group split up—Oolong and Goku went to refuel, while Bulma and Tang En bought some clothes and stocked up on food.

On their way back, Tang En spotted several burly men with rabbit ears bullying some fruit vendors.

"Tang En, are those the Rabbit Gang members the shopkeeper mentioned earlier?" Bulma asked.

"Probably… Huh?"

Tang En noticed their eyes locking onto them as they started walking in their direction. He stopped in his tracks.

At the same time, on the other side of the street, a man stepped out of a car adorned with rabbit insignias. He was munching on a carrot, crunching loudly, while staring right at them.

Tang En pressed his Power Level Detector and saw that the Rabbit Gang soldiers had power levels between 4 and 6. The man who had just stepped out of the car was likely the Rabbit Gang leader, but his power level was only 6. The real problem was his Psychic Ability.

Tang En frowned, keeping his eyes on the approaching gang leader. If he wasn't mistaken, the carrot in that man's hand was probably a transformed person. The thought filled him with anger.

Just then, two of the soldiers walked up to them.

One of them leered at Bulma and said, "See? I told you she was a new face. Heh, she's pretty cute. The boss is right behind us—should we grab her and offer her to the Rabbit Gang leader?"

"Eh heh heh, good idea. Let's do it," the other one agreed.

They completely ignored Tang En's presence.

Bulma turned slightly, eyeing the two men in front of her. With Tang En by her side, she didn't think she was in any real danger.

"Hehehe, kid up ahead, are you gonna walk away on your own, or do you need this big brother to give you a hand? Hahahaha!"

A slightly chubby soldier sneered.

"Hmph, who do you think you are?" Bulma glared at the two men disapprovingly.

Then she stuck out her tongue and made a face at them.

"Eh? How rare. You two really don't know about our far-famed Rabbit Gang, do you?"

"You must be from out of town, right?" the skinny soldier said.

"Sorry, but this lady has important business to attend to. No time to play with you!" With that, she grabbed Tang En's hand to leave.

Click-clack!

The skinny soldier suddenly pulled out a gun and pointed it at Bulma.

"Little girl, you've got quite the mouth on you! You tired of living or something?"

Now it was Tang En's turn to act.

Hero saves the damsel!

Tang En swiftly reached out. His training over the past few days had indeed strengthened him considerably.

First, he gripped the barrel of the gun, then twisted it until it bent, effortlessly wrenching it from the soldier's grasp.

"Huh?!"

"My gun?!"

The two soldiers stumbled back, staring in shock at what had just happened, unable to believe their eyes.

Tang En threw a punch at the chubby soldier.

Thud—

A loud smack echoed as the soldier crumpled to the ground, retching in pain.

Tang En had put real force behind that punch—enough to knock him out of the fight.

Terrified, the skinny soldier hoisted his comrade onto his back and fled toward the Rabbit Boss.

The Rabbit Boss, seeing his men getting beaten, was already marching toward Tang En.

"Danger!"

Tang En was on high alert. He wasn't about to let himself get caught off guard.

"This'll do!"

Not wanting to waste time on words, Tang En picked up a wooden stick from the ground and charged at the Rabbit Boss.

"As long as I don't touch his body, I'll be fine!" Tang En reminded himself.

"Eh?" The Rabbit Boss was completely bewildered.

"Wait… I haven't even said anything yet!"

A swing of the stick sent the Rabbit Boss scrambling to dodge, looking utterly disheveled.

Several more strikes followed in quick succession. Unable to evade them all, the Rabbit Boss took a few solid hits, his body aching all over.

"Stop, stop, STOP!!! I haven't even spoken yet! I'm willing to negotiate!

I can shake your hand… Eh??"

Tang En ignored him.

Right now, all he wanted was to finish him off quickly.

Ever since arriving in this world, Tang En had adhered to a cautious, no-nonsense approach.

He was determined to avoid the Saiyans' reckless habits and instead follow Future Trunks' example!

Especially in situations like this, where the tide could turn at any moment—no hesitation, just take the enemy down first.

If there was anything to say, he could say it to the corpse later!

Soon, Tang En had rendered the Rabbit Boss powerless.

Tang En thought it over. If the Rabbit Boss wasn't eliminated, innocent people would surely suffer.

In the original story, Goku had used the Power Pole to send him to the moon. But now, faced with reality, Tang En knew that was completely impossible.

He didn't even need to ask—it was clearly an unfeasible solution.

"Bulma, turn around for a moment. If we don't deal with the Rabbit Boss, more innocent people will be turned into carrots and eaten!" Tang En said to Bulma.

"Turn people… into carrots?"

Bulma had been wondering why Tang En was using a wooden stick this time.

Now… seeing the half-eaten carrots left by the Rabbit Boss, a chill ran down her spine, and she quickly turned away. The soldiers below were already terrified out of their wits and immediately scattered in all directions.

In their hearts, Tang En had now become the most terrifying demon king—even the invincible Rabbit Boss was no match for him.
