Sadius and the other two spent some time discussing the cultivation system of immortals from the Coiling Dragon universe.
After all, the Coiling Dragon universe was the main universe, and in the future, it would be possible to cultivate both time and space laws.
It would be best to introduce the Immortal Cultivation system only after all the Overgods had gathered together.
Several more centuries passed.
Finally, the time came for the trial of the Overgod of Death.
This time, the trial would be held in the Netherworld.
It wasn't as complicated as the previous trial for the Overgod of Destruction.
After all, the Sovereign of Death was practically the predetermined candidate to become the Overgod of Death.
Even other soul-mutated individuals with death clones, no matter how powerful they were, couldn't possibly match the Sovereign of Death.
So, this trial of the Death Overgod was held directly in the Netherworld.
The task was simple.
First, refine enough Divine Spark essence.
Then, the second phase was to challenge the peak-level Highgod Dannington, who had achieved perfection in the Laws of Death.
When all soul-mutated individuals with death clones gathered in the Netherworld under the lead of various Sovereigns, they quickly lost all will to compete upon learning that the Sovereign of Death was also a soul-mutated individual.
Still, the trial procedures had to be followed.
After all, refining Divine Spark essence in the first phase could increase their strength tenfold—it was a reward for participating.
The first phase ended swiftly. Except for the Sovereign of Death, everyone else chose to forfeit.
With their strength, even after becoming ten times stronger, they could never hope to defeat Dannington.
Let alone when the Sovereign of Death was also participating.
The Sovereign of Death breezed through the second phase as well. After all, Dannington was merely a peak Highgod. How could he possibly be a match for a Sovereign?
Thus, the trial ended quickly.
Under Sadius' arrangements, the Sovereign of Death went into seclusion in the Netherworld's Ghostmountain, absorbing the origin of the Laws of Death.
Once the trial was passed, the Embodiment of Death manifested itself and directly merged with the Sovereign of Death. As long as she continued to absorb the origin of the laws, she would soon become the Overgod.
And once the Sovereign of Death became the Death Overgod, her Sovereign sparks would naturally fall into Sadius' hands.
This was a deal long ago agreed upon between Sadius and the Sovereign of Death.
Even after becoming the Death Overgod, she would continue to wield the Heart of the Netherworld—a treasure useful not only to Sovereigns but even to Overgods.
As time passed bit by bit, the second planar war began.
No one paid much attention to this war since the battle within the Aether Overgod Realm was of far greater significance.
Orlodd had already become an Overgod, and a new Sovereign of Fate had yet to be appointed. As a result, areas near the teleportation array once controlled by Orloff were seized by the Highgod Alliance.
With the changing of the Light Sovereign, the City of Light built near the planar teleportation array was destroyed by the sovereign army of the Lightning Sovereign Hurlay. Once again, control over the teleportation array fell into the hands of the Lightning faction.
Recently, even the teleportation arrays under the Death Sovereign's control began to see disturbances.
After all, many had already learned that the Sovereign of Death was about to ascend to Supremacy.
Once she did, she naturally wouldn't meddle in the affairs of the Aether Overgod Realm, Sadius' domain.
Thus, some Sovereigns began harboring devious thoughts.
Many of the current Sovereigns had originally been vassals of the Four Edict Sovereigns.
But now, with the Sovereign of Fate Orloff ascending to Supremacy, and the Sovereign of Death soon to follow…
Some of the other Sovereigns of the Laws began thinking about competing for the Aether Overgod Spark.
And so, new ripples stirred in the Aether Overgod Realm.
Not long after, a ripple of fate laws spread across the Heaven and Earth.
It was the sign of someone refining a Sovereign spark—a new Sovereign was being born.
Sure enough, the new Sovereign of Fate had emerged.
It was none other than Magnus, who had achieved complete mastery over the Laws of Fate.
This fellow had been defeated by Linley during the previous planar war and thrown into chaotic space.
Orloff eventually found him and, after much hesitation, handed over the Fate Sovereign Divine Spark.
Magnus had once offended Linley.
And Linley was Sadius' son.
If not for the fact that Magnus was the only one in all existence to have achieved perfection in the Laws of Fate, Orloff wouldn't have wanted to give him the spark.
In the end, Magnus still became the new Chief Sovereign of Fate. Orloff even gifted him his own Sovereign soul-defense artifact.
After all, once one became an Overgod, creating Overgod artifacts was as easy as waving a hand.
Overgod artifacts were now useless to Orloff.
He didn't hand over the entire Overgod artifact set to Magnus, though. After all, Orloff still had other Sovereigns under his command who deserved rewards as well.
Orloff's subordinates continued following his arrangements—and by extension, became subordinates of Magnus.
As for the Sovereigns who had once served Augusta, they had now pledged loyalty to other elemental Sovereigns.
That day, a heavenly phenomenon once again descended.
The Sovereign of Death had successfully ascended to become an Overgod.
The fourth Overgod in all existence had emerged.
Among the four Edict Laws, only the Overgod of Life had yet to appear.
As for the Overgods of Time and Space, it would likely be quite a while before they emerged.
Aether Overgod Realm.
By now, the Aether Overgod Realm had grown quite similar to the Four Higher Planes.
Everywhere, one could see the presence of divine-level experts.
Thanks to the balance of power maintained by the various factions, it now looked indistinguishable from the Four Higher Planes and the Seven Higher Realms.
That day, seven massive beams of divine light erupted from seven different locations within the Aether Overgod Realm.
All the Sovereigns immediately realized—
The Sovereign Sparks had descended!
Every Sovereign flew at top speed toward the nearest beam of light, desperate to obtain a spark before the others.
"The hunt begins!" Sadius murmured, smiling as he watched.
The Sovereign Sparks of the Aether system wouldn't be like those of the Eleven Original Elemental and Edict Systems, where someone could luckily refine a spark and become a Sovereign.
Sadius, as the Aether Overgod, had long ago placed seals on these sparks.
Refining a Sovereign Spark of the Aether Laws wasn't something that could be done by simply dripping blood on it.
The lower one's comprehension of the Aether Laws, the longer it would take to refine the spark.
The greater one's mastery, the shorter the time needed.
If someone had achieved perfection in the Aether Laws, they could instantly refine the spark and become a Sovereign.
But clearly, no one had yet achieved that level of comprehension.
None of the Sovereigns or Highgods were aware of this truth.
Not even the other Overgods knew.
This was Sadius' secret scheme—meant to incite war among the Sovereigns.
Moreover, the locations where the seven Sovereign Sparks descended were carefully chosen:
Four sparks fell near the territories of the four Elemental Sovereigns of Water, Wind, Fire, and Earth.
One spark landed near the Darkness Sovereign.
One appeared directly within the sun.
And one spark descended within the territory of the Highgod Alliance, very close to Linus.
Very soon, the forces of all sides within the Aether Overgod Realm raced at top speed toward the beams of light.
