Chapter 188 - Chapter 188 – The Net to Hunt a Sovereign

The descent of the Aether Law Sovereign Sparks instantly sent shockwaves through all factions.

Seven new Sovereigns would soon be born, and the structure of the universe was about to change once again.

According to previously established rules, the Sovereign Spark belonged to whoever's territory it landed in.

The most excited were the four Sovereigns of Water, Wind, Fire, and Earth.

Each of their territories had one Aether Law Sovereign Spark descending upon it.

Without hesitation, the four of them flew toward the beams of divine light.

But just as they took off, several other Sovereigns appeared within their domains.

These were the Light Sovereign Olivier, the Redbud Sovereign, the Destruction Sovereign Uhtred, and the Life Sovereign Viviya.

The Life Sovereign Viviya had been invited by Sadius through the Death Overgod.

Uhtred, in turn, had been persuaded by Sadius through Ignis.

Their true targets were not the four Aether Law Sovereign Sparks within those domains…but the four Sovereigns themselves.

The rule forbidding Sovereigns from attacking one another had been set by the Sovereigns of the Laws themselves.

Now, with the Destruction Sovereign and the Life Sovereign leading the charge in violating this rule, no one dared raise an objection.

Still, Sadius had no intention of blatantly breaking the rules among Sovereigns.

Instead, he sent the four to compete for the Aether Sovereign Sparks.

After all, the ownership of the Aether Law Sovereign Sparks was not defined by any written decree—it was simply a tacit understanding among the Sovereigns.

Even if others tried to snatch the Sparks, it technically wasn't a violation of the rules.

Naturally, the Sovereigns of Water, Wind, Fire, and Earth noticed the incoming intruders approaching the Sparks in their lands.

"Olivier," Wind Sovereign Diya said mentally, "according to our agreement, that Sovereign Spark is mine!"

"Agreement? What agreement? I don't recall any such thing," Olivier chuckled to himself.

Not long ago, his mastery of the Laws of Light had reached the Great Perfection stage since he was already on the cusp. Plus Augusta had accumulated so much faith through the Radiant church it outmatched all others…Olivier simply benefited from someone else's hard work.

This meant his power had formally stepped into the realm of Chief Edict Sovereigns.

He lacked an Overgod artifact, which made him slightly weaker than the others of that tier.

However, he had refined the essence of Highgod Sparks, granting him a tenfold boost atop his Great Perfection foundation.

What's more, he was a soul mutate.

Compared to Wind Sovereign Diya, Olivier's strength was several magnitudes greater.

Diya's speed was extraordinary, but still inferior to Olivier's.

The two reached the Aether Sovereign Spark's location almost simultaneously.

It was a vast mountain range, with a beam of light shooting into the Heaven like a beacon.

Countless Gods had already gathered in the mountain range.

After all, as long as one had independently reached the Highgod level in the Aether Laws, they could refine the Spark and become a Sovereign themselves.

Who would pass up such an opportunity?

Even knowing a Sovereign might seize it, they were unwilling to give up.

The two Sovereigns swiftly entered the mountain range.

"Olivier! Since you want to fight over this Spark, then let's see if you have what it takes!" Diya growled.

No one could tell yet which of the seven Sparks was the Aether Sovereign Spark.

That meant any of them could potentially be the superior one.

Naturally, Diya wasn't about to give it up.

"Then let's fight," Olivier said calmly. "Whoever wins gets the Spark!"

Olivier's real objective had never been to compete for the Aether Spark.

It was to kill Diya.

That's why he was deliberately pushing for combat.

He didn't reveal his true power as a Great Perfection Sovereign—if he had, Diya would've immediately fled.

As the battle began, Olivier intentionally appeared weaker, allowing Diya to believe he had the upper hand.

Countless Gods watched the clash of Sovereigns from a distance.

To avoid being caught in the shockwaves, they all kept far away.

The Aether Spark had a process: only after the beam of light dissipated would the Spark formally descend.

Right now, the intense fluctuations from the Sovereign battle enveloped the beam, forcing all other Gods to retreat even farther.

Therefore, once the battle concluded, the Spark would undoubtedly go to one of the two combatants.

No one else would have a chance.

Their fierce battle shattered the mountains and shook Heaven and Earth.

Ordinarily, Sovereigns would fight in turbulent spatial flows or uninhabited realms.

But Diya obviously wasn't going to give up the Spark, so the battleground had to be near the beam of light.

While fighting, Olivier was also quietly setting up sealing formations using the methods Sadius had taught him.

The most important objective was to kill Diya—he absolutely could not be allowed to escape.

Diya, believing Olivier to be weaker, launched a ferocious offensive.

He, too, wanted to kill Olivier.

This Spark was likely the High Spark—far more precious than any of the other Aether Sparks not yet fully descended.

Their battle reached a fever pitch.

At last, Olivier completed the sealing formation and unleashed his true power.

With a single sword strike, Olivier sent Diya crashing into the mountains below, blasting a massive crater into the terrain.

The entire mountain range's topography was drastically altered.

Diya was stunned.

Why had Olivier's power suddenly surged?

This bastard had been hiding his strength! Could he be…a Great Perfection Sovereign?

Very likely!

Diya knew full well how powerful Olivier had been before becoming a Sovereign.

He had been hailed as the number one below Sovereign on the Infernal Realm's Blood Ridge Continent, second only to Beirut.

It was very possible that Olivier had relied on faith power and constructing a divine plane to break through to Great Perfection.

A Great Perfection Sovereign's strength was hundreds of times greater than that of a regular Sovereign—it was a complete ruse.

And Olivier's power wasn't just hundreds of times greater.

He had also enhanced himself with the essence of Highgod Sparks, making him even stronger.

Diya knew he had to escape.

The quickest way would be to tear space open and flee into the spatial turbulence.

As the Wind Sovereign, Diya specialized in speed.

If he truly fled, few could catch him.

He attempted to break open space.

But no matter how many techniques he used, he couldn't tear through it.

He immediately sensed danger.

The chance to seize the Aether Spark was gone.

The wisest choice now was to run.

He exploded with divine speed, attempting to flee.

But Olivier only sneered.

Diya discovered in horror that no matter how he tried to run, he couldn't move beyond a ten-kilometer radius.

"Olivier, what are you doing?! I don't want the Spark anymore!" he cried out.

"You think I care about that Spark?" Olivier replied coldly.

Diya was terrified. If Olivier didn't want the Spark—what did he want?

He suddenly understood.

"Olivier! Sovereigns aren't allowed to slaughter one another without cause! Are you trying to have every Sovereign in the universe hunt you down?!"

"The rules among Sovereigns were created by the strongest among us," Olivier said indifferently. "And as it happens, I've now reached that level."

"Lord Uhtred won't let you get away with this!" Diya shouted.

"Heh. You think he'll side with you—or with me?"

Olivier said no more.

He raised his sword—and struck.

Diya frantically summoned every ounce of power to resist.

All the Gods present witnessed the scene:

The Wind Sovereign was completely crushed by another Sovereign.
