Chapter 54 - Wait! What?

Written by **EYRAM**

Then Serena went for an attack, unarmed because she could not sneak in a weapon. She went full force with the first strike a punch straight to the gut, but the strange thing was she did not retaliate, not even attempting to dodge, or aim for mutual destruction she stood there and let herself be punched, only looking towards her after the fact.

Elaine was pushed back miles away, but Serena knew she had some history with her mother, staring at someone, so much so you get attacked without even knowing while one was practically famed to be a war goddess implied something but yet again the question was What?

But she was denied the time to second guess, after snapping out of her daze Elaine went on full beast mode, attacking relentlessly but with no sense of order allowing Serena to calculatedly dodge and attack once in a while, each attack causing tremendous damage to Elaine till she could not walk.

And that was how she infiltrated an organization took a hostage and left unscathed, her mother trekking behind her, definitely full of questions.

Soon, out the door Serena took the same car she arrived in, the black SUV< in the comfort of the car, Anne asked,

"So, when did you get your driver's license?"

"I never got one," Leaving her other shocked.

"Let me take the wheel" Anne asked, rather calmly.

"It's okay, this is not my first time driving, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for taking too long to save you, and I hope you don't mind those wings" Serena said, her voice carrying expectance.

"Actually, I am rather appreciative of them, I just do not think they would look alright, you know amidst others but that does not matter, what I am truly interested in dearest, is what happened those six months, how did you know I'm in Ravensville"

"I'll tell you about it in a bit, but first I need to know how you were sent out of the hospital"

"It's really simple actually, the doctor was bribed and he let me out and promised, on his life, which he may or may not have known that he had no other choice, and I was brought here, for the sole purpose of getting rid of my husband" Anne said, sadness in her eyes, something one would never see while she was in her youth, the woman had been through a lot and it all started when she met Jack.

"And, about that. I want to inform you that legally you're divorced" Anne smiled in response, then scoffed,

"Does that really make a difference?"

"I know right, He lives in this huge mansion, has many sport cars and cannot even afford something as important as hospital bills"

"Well, I want to say I am sorry Serena, I may have been the one who was sick but you felt the brunt of it…" But Serena interrupted her.

"And that is what made me the person I am today, all of it even the pain from when I thought I lost you"

"So, where are we going? If we're going to his house then that would be awkward."

"Actually, we'll be in my house"

"Wow! You have a house"

"And, I own a company, in a few days I'll be receiving an Award"

"So, I guess you don't go to school anymore"

"No, it's all a long story and we have a long time to catch up, but tonight let's rest, and tomorrow, we'll be visiting Jack, or should I say Dad"

"Serena, you do not understand! I cannot be close to him while feeling like this"

"Trust me when I say he loves you, and you just need less distance, more communication"

"No, I am not up for letting him use me again, he filed for divorce, and it must've been given mandatorily without my signature because I was claimed missing, and after two weeks of posting me in the news article with no feedback, just like that it was approved"

"Well, I do not know what you're talking about, maybe a bill? But it was your clone who filed, and all dad had to do was sign, and trust me when I say he was heartbroken"

"So, all that time he still loved me and never came to check up on me?"

"Please, Mom for now let's let this matter rest I'm tired"

Serena parked the car, upon their arrival in her humble abode, perfect for one, but a bit cramped for two, though they could manage, Serena slept in her usual room while her mom used the guest bedroom.

In the midst of the forest, Seraphina was running, she had to be quick on her feet, as she was being chased by a huge tiger, at the peak of the earl rank, not far from the next evolution, and hence with just a small enlightenment could become as powerful as the bat that made her use her trump card.

After her hunting session was over why did she have to kill that tiger cub, it was not even going to grant her a lot of strength since it was nothing but at the bottom of the elite rank, and now she had its mother to contend with.

Seraphina learned to use her mind the more she was overpowered and could not use the orthodox way, she came to the forest to learn and grow, and her combat power was rapidly improving.

She quickly took advantage of her nimble body, making sharp turns at unexpected intervals, corners and directions, and in an attempt to follow the tiger kept making all the wrong abrupt turns, and soon she was taking the lead.

But a mother scorned, especially one in the Jungle was not easy to brush off, when chasing was not working, she roared, and a majestic male tiger was behind her, which was well off in the baron rank.

She knew she was incapable of out running this one, and hence was left with no other option, in her wake she lit the forest on fire.

She tried to be frugal as the impact of her flame could cause forest fires, create the highest of carbon footprints but this time her life was at stake.

With every opening she saw she began to shift the terrain making it harder to scale, that would've been super effective against the female tigress, but the tiger that joined the fray was one evolution above that, and the difference was tremendous, he was gaining in on her.

She used the wind to articulate a strong gale in the direction of the tiger, and that was when she saw his movement hindered, but that was by no means enough to stop him from reaching her.

Then she manipulated all her sweat, and moisture from the plants around her, and sent it towards the feet of the tiger. And froze it. That was when she felt she had a chance, and decided to make it closer to some water body nearby, but she was getting tired and knew eventually, she would not be able to continue running.

Using her elemental powers with physical ones quickly ate away at her stamina, and she needed good food and rest to replenish that, but if she even stopped running, she would be granted a free pass to rest for all eternity.

Since lighting was too much for her to manipulate, she aimed for the next best thing, in her immediate surrounding was darkness, the whole forest was shrouded in the shadow of the dark, and as soon as she tried to control it, it controlled her.

Her hair, turned many shades darker, but still had strawberry highlights, her eyes pitch black, but still warm, and her skin, the red runes, so beautiful and intricately aligned black.

Her lips parted and a sound even creepier than the worst horror movies' nightmare coming out. And with that birds flew out of the trees, fishes swarm towards the depths of the ocean and animals run and hid in cages, the lion in front of her was no exception to that.

But she smiled her face turning into something twisted, then the darkness solidified in her hand, and made a scythe black in color pulsating with power, her skin lost it's color becoming more pale, the strawberry in her hair fading and her eyes looking, cold the more she used the darkness element.

And somewhere in a gated community, Serena heard the sound, her skin ached, turned pale, the star in her hand shining, a black hue trying to suppress it, she was immobilized and knew not a thing to fight it.

Fortunately, on this one night she was not home alone, the noise woke her mom up, and she worriedly approached her mom, and when Anne saw Serena saying she had the shock of her life was a total understatement.

Serena mustered all her strength, stopped resisting and screamed

"Help!" Her skin turned so pale she looked to have died, she lost consciousness, and Anne was nothing short of concerned, she knew it was something magical and could not involve doctors, now she was at a complete lost, not a clue on what to do, as it all seemed surreal.
