Ivy's POV
I stared at the screen in disbelief. The image showed me barely clinging to life. My half-open eyes appeared vacant, mouth smeared with blood. My neck was mutilated with deep bite marks forming a grotesque circle, chunks of flesh missing. One arm bent unnaturally, and a bone protruded through the skin of my leg.
A collective gasp filled the room as everyone turned to look at me, but I couldn't tear my eyes from the horrific evidence of what I'd survived.
We are stronger than you think, Killian reassured me mentally as she brushed against the wall separating us. Astrid followed suit, both of them trying to steady my racing heart. I had been mere moments from death.
But the goddess saved us, Astrid reminded me, her gentle voice washing over me like a soothing balm.
Yes, the goddess has need of us, I acknowledged silently. I watched as Killian and Astrid settled against each other, drawing a small smile from me despite the circumstances.
