Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

"Lightning Creation Magic: Lightning thief"

As the dust cloud settled, Luck's figure became clear. Everything about him was normal save a new feature, he now wore a pair of boots engraved with intricate patterns fashioned out of Lightning and thunder with a slender set of wings at the edge of each foot.

The Serpent Apostle walked out of a crater without a dent on his body.

"How Annoying"

The Serpent Apostle whispered under his breath. Finral and Vanessa looked at each other and nodded, understanding that perhaps only Luck should be in this battle.

"Go ahead, I'll take care of this guy"

Luck said to his comrades as he walked steadily towards his foe, the mischievous grin on his face had reached into a devilish territory making the elegant young man become awash in a surge of Lightning powered insanity and delirium.

"Illoruim Vakta Basilicee.."

With a chilling ethereal tone that reverberated through the surrounding space into souls of those present, the serpent Apostle began a forbidden spell chant calling upon otherworldy powers in order to amplify his raw power.

What followed was a spatial attack targeted directly at Luck as a rift appeared over the Lightning mage's head allowing a gargantuan snake head to launch out with inconceivable speed in an attempt to bite off the boy's head.

Within an infiniestimally small amount of time before the attack reached him, Luck took a deep breath as he entered into a new state of consciousness. His head ached as the events transpiring in the world around him sped up before suddenly slowing down to a snail's pace.

He lifted his head to look at the incoming entity, the snake's gaping mouth exposed repeated rows of sharp jagged teeth stained with extremely corrosive acid and further into the mouth wasn't a digestive tract but a gateway into an endless starry void from which a humanoid figure observed him through a veil of darkness.

As the two beings locked eyes, the being behind the curtain suddenly became startled due to being seen by the boy who stared at him not in fear of awe but in a crazed look as though staring at simple prey. Luck locked onto his target with unholy precision and made a leap towards it.

Moving with one foot at a time he noticed that the gravity exerted on him by the planet had increased exponentially almost to the point that he felt as though he was moving with a massive boulder on his shoulders.

Still even then he didn't feel the usual painful strain that accompanied such an experience only a sense of undeniable clarity and deliria as though even the heaviest thing to him felt light.

After three steps he leaped into the mouth of the snake towards the veiled target, all while keeping that demonic grin on his face. Within the perception of these two beings, Luck and the veiled target, almost thirty minutes had passed but to Finral, Vanessa and the serpent Apostle witnessing the events from the normal speed of events, the only thing that occurred was a loud tear followed by a hiss then an explosion of blood and guts accompanied by long thick strands of lightning plasma that left an unbearably loud explosion in their advent.

To put it simply, they were just too slow to process what had happened. The Serpent Apostle was even more shocked as he tried repeatedly to call on the Void Serpent he had made a contract with but all he received was a scene of something ripping through scaled flesh and guts as the victim let out a desperate hissy cry.

Luck had disappeared into that other dimension and had begun a rampage through the snake's body whom according to his legend extended to infinity. If Luck destroyed it then it meant that his raw speed and power was surpassing even the confines of space time. What that meant for a mage was simple- undisputed Godhood.

Thin strands of strong purple threads, hard as steel, wrapped around his neck without warning, forcing him to come out of his reverie and face his new foes- Finral and Vanessa. The Thread suddenly dug into his skin trying to decapitate him but instead hit a brick wall as his thick metallic scales stopped it in it's tracks.

His Transformation wasn't normal since he had imbued himself with the unknown energies of the other dimension allowing him to establish a more stable and clearer connection with his contracted host- the Void Serpent.

Finral appeared in a burst of light and ran his katana into the Serpent Apostle's left eye, causing an eruption of blood and the apostle to squirm and scream loudly in pain.

He immediately retailated with a spell,

"Forbidden Spatial Magic: Degenerate Volume"

Which manifested a Spatial rift from which beads of a clear bluish liquid sped out, launching themselves at Finral who responded by using Angel Wings Heartbeat to send most of them away from himself onto the lower torso of the serpent Apostle before teleporting away to safety at Vanessa's side.

A Heavy Sizzle resounded as the Liquid melted the skin and tissue with mind-blowng ease, making it's way into his body until the entirety of his torso had been dissolved into a writhing puddle of greasy scales, skin and degrading biomass leaving only the long head present.

"Ahhh..!!"

Another Horrendous scream escaped the mouth of the pathetic apostle who writhed in pain and agony crying out desperately for relief. Even Vanessa and Finral took pity and the loud voice attracted the attention of Dark Priest Yules who was in the middle of a conversion with an enraged Asta causing him to turn back to have a look.

The Disgusting scene entered his sight, it took quite a lot to hold back the nausea. Yules recalled when he met the Serpent Apostle, Raymoon. Once he was on an evangelism through the slums of the wastes when he encountered a dying man whose skeletal body struggled for breath each second.

"What a wretched state you are in, My Child"

The Dying Man- Raymoon stretched his hands to Father Yules asking for help,

"Father I won't make it, I want to see her again."

"Who?"

"My Wife, they took her, the 8th League."

"AHH!! Then I am sorry to inform you that she is dead. Those gang of deliquents are known for such acts and in a place like the outlands where no kingdom dares lay it's paws, no Law exists to say otherwise"

"No.. No… Where is her body?"

"Hanging on a pole over there. Apparently she was caught trying to steal some medicine to bring back to you, the Eighth made an example of her"

Raymoon crawled from his bed slowly towards the veranda where he saw a dead woman hanging from a straight pole along with several other men and women.

"How awful. What sort of God would allow this?"

Yules held the broken man,

"I Understand your pain, this world is fallen even the gods are lost. That is why I need you to join me in my crusade, let us bring an end to this wretched existence.

There is a being, greater than any power this world can conceive, which resides in a place far removed from our own. We must open a gate for him to enter and when he does, he shall bring a final chapter to this little frame of reality and liberate us from our fates…"

As Yules spoke with increasing fervour, other beggars and vagabonds gathered to hear his words. Each searching for a new meaning to their bleak lives,

".....then in the fragments we will find our home. Our new reality born from our will, the world that should have been. The one we are owed, so join me today. Let us go together!!"

All the spectators including Raymoon fell on their knees in submission and faith, ready to join this crusade to bring an end to this evil world, once and for all.

Father Yules still staring at Raymoon's pathetic state grinned before saying,

"You won't die yet. Will ya"

The Leftover head sprung to life, the torso regrew back as a completion to the serpentine form. Finral and Vanessa felt a massive surge of Mana coming from Raymoon which manifested in a blue hue that disturbed the air currents.

But now something changed within this being, a growing distortion in the reality of the snake's body. A Massive web of spiraling cracks from which a sickening flow of static leaked out, warping everything it touched into a similar serpentine form.

Rocks, Sand even air was converted into more piles of venomous snakes which writhed for a bit before heading to join the main body.

The Disturbance grew, the calm evening sky shifted into midnight illuminated solely by the unsettling glow of a blood moon.

The Ground turned Black as more blades of desert grass sprouted miniaturized snake appendages trapping Finral and Vanessa in the middle of this chaos.
