Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows as Miranda stood in the doorway of Nolan's marble bathroom, watching him shave. His movements were precise and methodical, the razor gliding over his jaw with practiced ease. She couldn't help but admire the play of muscles in his bare shoulders and back, memories of last night sending a delicious shiver through her body.
"See something you like?" Nolan caught her eye in the mirror, a knowing smirk playing on his lips.
Miranda flushed but didn't look away. "I need to go to my apartment today."
Nolan's hand paused mid-stroke. "Why?"
"I need clothes, for one thing. I can't keep wearing yesterday's outfit." She gestured at her rumpled blouse and skirt. "Plus, there are some things I'd rather Ryan not destroy out of spite."
Nolan's jaw tightened at the mention of her ex-fiancé. He rinsed his razor under the tap with more force than necessary.
"You're not going alone," he stated flatly.
