"Forget it, you can go," Whis sighed helplessly.
"You… you're really letting me go?" The Supreme Kai looked at him in disbelief.
Whis: …
Why would I keep you here?
To have dinner together?
Whis couldn't even be bothered to reply. He turned away and flew out of the castle.
Better if you leave quickly. I have a castle to repair.
Seeing Whis depart, the Supreme Kai wasted no time. He immediately used Kai Kai.
Whoosh!
In an instant, he vanished.
…
Supreme Kai's Realm.
Everything that had just happened on Planet Beerus had been clearly observed through Merus's staff. Ken had also been watching, while Kibito and Broly, of course, saw nothing.
Merus quietly wiped sweat from his brow. For the first time, he wondered if coming to seek the Supreme Kai's help had been a colossal mistake.
"Merus, put that staff away," Ken said suddenly, lowering his voice.
Merus blinked, turning to him in confusion.
"If the Supreme Kai sees you holding the same kind of staff as Whis, he might start questioning you again," Ken explained.
Realization struck Merus. He quickly nodded. "You're right. Thanks."
Whoosh!
Merus swiftly stowed the staff.
And just then, the Supreme Kai reappeared with Kai Kai.
"Huff… huff…"
He gasped for breath, cold sweat dripping from his forehead, his face pale. His legs even trembled slightly—he was clearly shaken.
For the first time since the Majin Buu incident, the Supreme Kai had felt true fear.
That God of Destruction and his attendant… they weren't simple.
"Supreme Kai-sama, are you alright?" Kibito asked anxiously, rushing over.
"I'm fine…" The Supreme Kai waved a hand weakly, trying to appear calm.
That had been far too terrifying. He had almost not returned. Luckily, his reflexes were quick enough to escape in time.
Otherwise… things could have ended badly.
"Once again, thank you, Supreme Kai-sama, for helping us resolve the matter with Frieza," Merus said respectfully.
"I won't keep you for dinner," the Supreme Kai replied flatly.
"Of course… it's time we left anyway," Merus agreed, bowing his head.
"I'll be back!" Broly rubbed his head, staring at the Supreme Kai, his eyes burning with battle spirit.
The Supreme Kai showed little reaction.
After his visit to Planet Beerus, his earlier confidence was gone. He now understood clearly: in this universe, aside from Majin Buu, there was another being just as frightening—the God of Destruction.
Perhaps not stronger than Buu, but… close enough.
"Let's go," Merus said to Ken, lowering his voice. "Next we need to pass through the Other World… it's on the way."
"Alright." Ken nodded.
"Supreme Kai-sama, thank you again for your assistance. Forgive our intrusion," Merus said one last time.
With that, he headed toward their spaceship.
Originally, he had planned to ask the Supreme Kai to send Ken to Universe 10. But after what had happened, it was clear this Kai knew very little. Best not to push further.
At least the Frieza issue was settled. The Galactic Patrol wouldn't be in danger for now, and there would be time to bring Ken to Universe 10.
Broly trailed along, turning back every few steps to look at the Supreme Kai.
Thunk!
So many backward glances made him walk right into the ship's support pillar.
"You okay?" Ken asked.
"I'm fine…" Broly scratched his head.
"I was asking about the ship," Ken corrected.
Broly: …
Merus: …
Just as Merus was about to board the ship—
"Oh, right, Merus. I just remembered something important," Ken said suddenly.
Merus stopped and turned to him.
"I heard there's a sacred sword in the Supreme Kai's Realm. Whoever pulls it out gains immense power, right? Supreme Kai-sama?" Ken asked, glancing at him.
"Yes, that's true," the Supreme Kai admitted with a nod. "But don't get any ideas. With your strength, it's impossible. Even I cannot draw it."
"Can we at least try?" Ken asked, intrigued.
"If you insist, I don't mind," the Supreme Kai chuckled dismissively.
That sword had resisted countless attempts by generations of Supreme Kais.
Did these mortals think they could do what gods could not?
Fine—let them try. At least they'd give up afterward.
"Follow me." The Supreme Kai lifted into the sky.
Kibito flew by his side.
Ken followed, with Broly close at his flank.
Even Merus, curious despite himself, went along.
Under the Supreme Kai's lead, they soon landed atop a steep mountain peak.
The platform at the summit was barely ten meters across.
At its center, a sword was embedded deep into the rock, only the hilt protruding.
"This is the Sacred Sword," the Supreme Kai said, pointing to it. "As you know, drawing it grants great power."
"How do you know about this?" Kibito asked Ken suspiciously.
"Not important," Ken replied without explanation.
Kibito: …
"Merus, want to try?" Ken asked with a smile.
Merus was dumbstruck.
Me? A trainee Angel? Pulling that sword?
What kind of pointless idea is that?
"Ahem… no, I won't even bother. I doubt I could draw it," Merus said quickly, shaking his head.
"Broly, you try," Ken instructed.
Broly's eyes had already been locked on the sword since they arrived, circling it eagerly.
The moment Ken gave the word, he gripped the hilt with both hands.
"Hmph. Even Supreme Kai-sama couldn't pull it. A defeated Saiyan won't stand a chance," Kibito sneered. "Several Supreme Kais tried in the past and failed."
"Heh-heh-heh!"
Broly strained with all his might, pouring every ounce of strength into it.
But the sword didn't budge.
