"What…?" The Supreme Kai's face turned pale as he witnessed the terrifying scene.
What was that thing? That bubble?
It destroyed a sun just like that? His lips twitched, and his expression sank to its lowest.
"Oh my, oh my… so it was you, Supreme Kai…" Whis stepped forward politely, secretly relieved.
That had been close—
Just a little more, and Beerus-sama might have killed the Supreme Kai outright.
If that had happened, it would've been a tragedy.
No, wait—Whis recalled that long ago, Beerus-sama had sealed a Supreme Kai. As long as that Kai still lived, Beerus wouldn't die.
"Who are you?" the Supreme Kai demanded warily.
"Greetings, Supreme Kai. I am Whis, Beerus-sama's attendant," Whis replied courteously, giving a bow.
"An attendant? Like how Kibito is mine… is that it?" the Supreme Kai nodded, understanding.
Whis: …
That logic was so twisted, I can't even argue.
"So you're an accomplice to the God of Destruction!" the Supreme Kai glared coldly. "All of the universe's crises are because of you!"
Whis: ???
"Crises?" Whis was baffled.
"Am I wrong? You've destroyed universal peace!" the Supreme Kai barked, growing angrier.
Whis: …
Whis didn't even know how to begin explaining.
"See? I hit the mark!" the Supreme Kai sneered, eyes narrowing on him.
"Oh dear, perhaps you've misunderstood, Supreme Kai-sama," Whis smiled faintly, quickly replying. "For every act of creation, there must be destruction. To keep the universe everlasting, balance must be maintained."
"Balance? What do you mean?" the Supreme Kai frowned, hearing such a strange concept for the first time.
"Think of the vast universe as one planet," Whis explained.
"Go on," the Supreme Kai said, but added coldly, "If your explanation is unsatisfactory, I won't hesitate to punish you."
Whis: …
"If this planet-universe constantly births humans without restraint, what do you think will happen?" Whis asked.
"Of course humans will live in peace, prosper, and grow toward a better future. What else?" the Supreme Kai answered matter-of-factly.
Whis was speechless.
Three seconds of silence passed.
"Don't you think, Supreme Kai-sama… that unchecked growth would throw the planet out of balance?" Whis asked patiently.
"Does an abundance of ants ever throw off a planet?" the Supreme Kai shot back.
Whis had no words.
"My point is, a planet has limited resources. If they're all exhausted, what becomes of its people?" Whis pressed.
"What are you trying to say?" the Supreme Kai's brows knit tightly.
"At that point, if some of the resource-consuming things were destroyed, wouldn't the planet head toward a better state?" Whis explained.
"So you're just making excuses for your crimes!" the Supreme Kai roared.
Whis: …
That stings.
Was that what I meant?
At this moment, Whis finally understood the phrase "can't see eye to eye."
This Supreme Kai… really knows nothing.
"You needn't say more. Prepare to receive divine punishment!" the Supreme Kai bellowed, raising his hands toward Whis.
Whis: …
"I'll make you pay for your sins!" the Supreme Kai declared, unleashing divine power to cover Whis.
And then—nothing happened.
Whis didn't even flinch. With a mere flicker of angelic energy, he nullified all of the Supreme Kai's attack.
"What?! You're unharmed?" The Supreme Kai's face twisted in shock. He leapt back, putting distance between them.
"Didn't your master, the Grand Supreme Kai, ever explain this to you?" Whis asked calmly.
The Supreme Kai gave no reply. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Beerus stirring, and instinctively glanced out the window.
What he saw stunned him. His eyes went wide, full of disbelief.
The God of Destruction looked perfectly fine… still sleeping soundly?
The Supreme Kai felt his confidence crumble.
So his strength… was far beyond anything I imagined.
"I'll be back!" the Supreme Kai shouted, hesitated only a moment, then let his body turn translucent as he prepared to use Kai Kai.
"Supreme Kai-sama… please wait a moment." Whis snapped his fingers.
Snap!
The Supreme Kai's Kai Kai was abruptly canceled.
He froze in shock. His teleportation had been nullified?!
Whoosh!
In a flash, Whis appeared at his side.
"Y-you! Don't come near me!" the Supreme Kai shrieked in terror.
Whis: …
Am I really that scary?
I'm an Angel…
"Supreme Kai-sama, I mean no harm," Whis said, nearly in tears.
But the Supreme Kai only watched him warily, afraid of a sneak attack.
This one's dangerous…
I can't beat him.
"What do you want from me?" the Supreme Kai asked nervously.
"Surely you at least know of the Omni-King?" Whis asked, raising his staff.
The crystal projected an image of Zeno.
"Omni-King?" the Supreme Kai blinked, hearing the name for the first time.
He immediately looked at the projection.
"This figurine—this is the one you call the Omni-King?" he asked casually.
Whis: …
Figurine?
You're calling the Omni-King a figurine?!
This is bad. If the Omni-King ever heard this, he might erase Universe 7 on the spot.
At that moment, Whis regretted stopping the Supreme Kai.
I should've just let him leave.
Why, oh why, did I cancel his Kai Kai?
