He woke up in the darkness of his apartment room, hearing the loud, busy noise of the city outside. Moonlight shined into the room, soft and calm. He stood and walked to the window, looking out at the city—bright, advanced, and almost futuristic.

He let out a slow breath, reminding himself that life would go on—routine and duties waiting as always. Outside, the faint light of dawn began to seep in, hinting that morning was moments away. Turning away from the window, he crossed the room and opened his wardrobe. His hand reached inside with familiar certainty and pulled out his white cloak, just as he did every day.

He went to the bathroom and cleaned himself, and after coming out of the bathroom, he wore his white cloak—complete with the name tag that he had already attached to his cloak.

The name tag read Arcelius Nathan. Nathan worked as a Superal, a job that completed many kinds of missions to earn rewards.

Nathan was a Type-2 Superal, and he had only become one about three months ago. Every Superal in the world possessed a power known as Magica—a supernatural ability, like magic, and the core force or main ability that shaped this world.

Nathan's life was nothing extraordinary—his Magica was still Type-1, the lowest tier. In this world, Magica grew stronger as its type increased. Even someone with power beyond normal human limits would still be weak if their Magica remained Type-1—just like Nathan's.

Each Magica has its own category, such as Elementalist, Spatialist, and others. Elementalist has the advantage of enhancing elemental power, but it does not apply to other abilities, and the same goes for Spatial and others.

Nathan's Magica is categorized as Neutral, a power that has neither weaknesses nor strengths—making this category very flexible and able to use any ability. Nathan also has a special perk called [ Perk: Resonance ], a perk that allows Nathan to have the same power as the creature he summons.

----

Nathan walked out of his apartment, walking through the streets, everything he felt seemed the same and nothing had changed. He stopped for a moment at the bakery—filling the emptiness in his stomach was one of Nathan's morning habits.

Everyone has a Magica, but not everyone is necessarily a Superal, like Nathan's regular bread seller. Nathan ordered bread with a new flavor, as if the bread was a metaphor that he was already bored with his daily life.

"Ham and cheese bread... I want two of those." Nathan said weakly, and he paid with the wallet system.

"That's unusual, you usually order mung bean bread, are you bored of it already? Hahaha..." said the bread seller with a small laugh.

"Yeah... Something like that." Nathan replied with a forced small smile.

Nathan walked out of the bakery and ate the bread he had ordered while walking toward Heroes Company, one of the buildings that housed the largest number of Superals in the city—and Nathan was registered as a Superal in that building.

He passed by the buildings, the street lights shone brightly and every structure was decorated with striking neon lights. This city was not a safe one — crime, corruption, discrimination, and other illegal activities were common here.

There are various kinds of races living side by side in this world, such as humans, elves, descendants of angels and demons, cyborgs, orcs, dwarves, lunarium, and many more. However, discrimination against races is also something that commonly happens even though they live side by side.

He kept walking and the bread he was eating was almost finished. Nathan opened his status system, he had 1 Type-upgrade point left, and he upgraded his class Type, which was summoner, one of the support classes that relied only on the creatures that were summoned.

----

A few minutes passed and Nathan had already arrived at Heroes Company, as the building wasn't far from his home. He entered Heroes Company and went straight to the Quest Room, a room for taking the available Quests.

There were many Superals like Nathan in that quest room, some were beginners and some were already experienced. Everyone there worked either to earn money or simply to obtain the title of Exostar.

The highest peak of a Superal is becoming a Exostar, and the eight strongest Superals will be chosen as Exostar. Nathan had no intention of becoming a Exostar , he only worked to survive. Even so, he was still like any other human — he was tired of living the same ordinary life over and over again.

Nathan continued observing the available quests for a few minutes, and he finally chose a quest that was quite difficult for his current Type, which was to defeat a Type-1 golem boss. Before that, he bought a machete equipped with magic-stone technology to strengthen it during the battle later.

Nathan turned around after buying the machete and walked toward the building's exit. He glanced at the reception desk and saw many people wanting to register as Superals, reminding him of when he first registered. However, Nathan didn't really care about it and kept walking.

He left the building and got into a Quest Taxi vehicle to reach his destination faster. He looked at the machete he had bought for a moment and summoned a creature called Spice Up.

The creature had a humanoid body but was a cyborg. Spice Up had two eyes, but no mouth, nose, or ears.

----

Upon arriving at the destination, Nathan immediately got out along with Spice Up. He and his summoned creature entered the dungeon they were heading to the dungeon was actually already safe from traps, and only the Type-1 golem boss remained undefeated.

The dungeon was abandoned, and there were a lot of moss and creeping plants growing on its walls and floor, even though the dungeon actually had quite advanced technology inside, yet it was neglected.

After exploring the dungeon and finding the boss room, Nathan handed the machete to Spice Up and took out his pistol to use from a distance. The machete he gave to Spice Up had been made permanent and could only be deactivated when Nathan chose to deactivate it.

----

Nathan immediately entered the golem boss room, and he was surprised because the Type-1 boss was quite large for a boss that was only Type-1. He quickly ordered Spice Up to attack the golem through the command system.

Spice Up moved forward and struck the golem's body several times, but it only left small yet sufficient damage. Meanwhile, Nathan shot from a distance. The golem boss also launched its punched—but they were too slow and could be easily avoided by Spice Up.

The golem's punch struck the floor, creating a massive tremor throughout the dungeon, proving that just one blow from that golem would be enough to crush Nathan and kill him.

"Damn, this isn't enough," Nathan muttered while clicking his tongue and continuing to shoot.

While Spice Up was focused on attacking the golem, one of the golem's slow punches finally hit Spice Up's head, causing its head to shatter and malfunction. However, Nathan quickly resummoned Spice Up to bring it back to life. That was the ability of the summoner class.

Spice Up and Nathan continued repeating the same attack cycle, hit and run. After several minutes of repeating the same attack cycle, the golem stopped moving and its body was quite damaged. Nathan thought he had already won, and approached the golem with a small smile on his face.

However, what he didn't expect was that the golem suddenly moved again and fired a kinetic laser toward Nathan—who was approaching. Nathan didn't have time to dodge or command Spice Up to protect him, and the kinetic laser was only a few centimeters away from his head.

Nathan froze, the laser getting closer to his head. He felt the kinetic beam growing hotter—his nose felt as if it was being forcibly crushed, pain spreading across his face, and the laser was only a few millimeters from his eye. Nathan's eyes felt like they were burning, and he could no longer see anything in front of him.

"Fuck..." Nathan said in his tought as the laser beam got closer and almost touched his face.
