"Are you serious?!" Christian slammed his 17 cards onto the table with a long and frustrated sigh, coming last, losing at least 8 matches out of 10.
"Definitely deserved." I smirked, as I came first in most matches.
Christian rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest. "I can't believe I put all the 4 pluses on you and still lost! This is insanely unfair." he scowled at me.
"Yo Chris, why. . . do you have expired vaseline in the kitchen?" Asked Waylen, who exited the kitchen and was holding a container of vaseline, inside seemingly mold.
Nicole snickered, before bursting out laughing. "Dude, expired vaseline?. ." He said in between laughs, looking at Christian.
He sighed, crossing his arms and leaning back. "Yo, you can't blame me! I told my little dude to throw it away ages ago."
"Your little dude..?" Asked Waylen with a puzzled voice.
"Yeah, little brother. He kept using it even though it was expired. but it didn't have mold last ti—." He stopped, glancing at the container for a moment. Then, back at Waylen.
"Are you wearing my shirt??" He said, completely off topic.
"Haha. . sorry, the other had a bunch of blood on it. But you've got cool shirts, man." He said, smirking slightly.
6:01PM
Seven teenagers gathered in Christians living room? Never would've seen this happening, not in a million years.
"Ugh, I thought this apocalypse would at least be a bit more entertaining than midterm exams. Yet here we are." Ruby groaned, laying on the bare floor, looking up at the ceiling.
"You'd seriously rather be studying instead of beating the brains out of those zombies?" Axelle asked, looking down from the couch at Ruby.
"Come to think of it, we'd have done all the exams by now anyway." Nicole stated, looking up from the book he was reading.
"But during the time we would've been doing the exams, We were in fact, beating the brains out of zombies." Waylen added, ripping out papers from a math text book and crumpling them, then throwing them around. He was leaning the back of his head on Axelle's shoulder, his ankles dangling off the couch.
It was pretty quiet, except for the occasional sound of Nicole flipping pages, and the sound of paper being crumpled and thrown around. Not to mention Eli, who was throwing a tennis ball at the wall and catching it repetitively. Ruby, Christian and I were pretty bored, with pretty much nothing to do.
Ruby then got up, dusting herself off before sitting next to Nicole boldly. She peaked her head beside Nicole's, trying to catch a glimpse of what he was reading so seriously.
"What're you reading?" She asked, sitting pretty close to him. Nicole pulled the book closer to his face, practically burying his face in there. He was flustered, and I knew it. Ruby, clueless, tilted her head and sighed. She sat down properly, crossing her legs.
Thud.
Followed by silence.
Thud.
Silence.
Thud.
"What the hell?" Whispered Waylen, slowly sitting up properly on the couch.
Followed by aloud creak, then crack.
I turned around, only to see a zombie had broken in. Immediately panicking, everyone got up, not bothering to be quiet about it. Which only makes things worse.
I got up as well, reaching for my crutches.
"Bloody hell! Do ya not have a be'er security system, mate?" Eli practically jumped up from his seat, looking around for any weapons.
"Well whatever the security system, zombies aren't supposed to just break in!" Ruby yelled, beating up the zombie, her eyes. . closed, probably a bit scared and unwilling.
"I bet a hundred dollars its christians fault! He's the one who shouted and lost it after coming last in uno." Waylen added, standing on guard with a helmet in hand.
"As if. No one wants any bloody money anymore, mate!" Eli remarked back to Walyen.
But it wasn't long that our attention was on the now beat up and dead zombie.
As close as these zombies got, the louder, obviously.
Groan.
We all turned our heads to the door, seeing more zombies being attracted inside. Instantly, everyone rushed forward, trying to keep them out. Ugh. I hate this to the core. I can't do anything except stand here helplessly and watch them fight. I limped back against a wall, grabbing whatever that was in my reach to at the least defend myself. It was a freaking bottle of bug spray. Seriously?
Watching the situation, I could tell that it was slowly spiraling out of control. A zombie slipped past them, since yes, they all were fighting at least two zombies each. Just as it reached me, I got ready to hit it with the spray at its eyes, just to see if it did anything. But right as it approached me, it got hit hard by a swing to the head. As it landed with a 'thud' onto the floor, christians gaze met mine.
He scoffed, "Can't even fight anymore, eh, shitty face?" He smirked mockingly.
I rolled my eyes. "Whose fault would that be?" I replied, giving him an irritated glare.
"Dont start, idiot." He replied, turning around only to face more zombies coming his way. Almost like a never-ending swarm. I slowly but surely pushed myself off of the wall, making my way to stand beside Christian. As more zombies came our way, I started beating them with a. . . yes, a bottle of bug spray. But, better than bare hands, so I'll deal with it for now.
"GUYS! There's way too many!! We have to leave this place!" Ruby yelled back to us.
"Why are these guys so persistent? I swear maybe even smarter!" Waylen spoke, kicking a zombie off of Eli.
"Thanks mate," he uttered quietly to Waylen.
"Should we evacuate??" Axelle asked, fighting with Ruby.
"It's best if we do, or who knows how much longer this'll last for?!" Waylen answered, while desperately fighting for his life with three zombies.
"Make a run for it, then!" said Ruby, pushing away the zombie she was fighting, and running towards the staircase.
But before she could make it up, a zombie grabbed her leg, as if it knew she was going to escape, and dragged her to the floor with a loud 'thud', thus a vase coming down with her.
"Ruby!" Nicole's eyes widened, as he stopped his fighting, immediately trying to rush to her side, stumbling over the zombie bodies helplessly, that were scattered everywhere.
Ruby gasped, the suddenness making her gasp audibly loud. She didn't have enough time to react, a zombie placing its hand on her shoulder, holding her with its weight to the ground, leaning in to bite her.
