Chapter 56 - CHAPTER 56 (S2)

Ruby gasped, the suddenness making her gasp audibly loud. She didn't have enough time to react, a zombie placing its hand on her shoulder, holding her with its weight to the ground, leaning in to bite her.

Nicole managed to reach her, desperately trying to get the zombie off of Ruby. He succeeded, pushing the zombie away temporarily and helping Ruby up. He stood in front of her, taking a stance to defend her while she gathered herself.

"Seriously, mate? These guys seem alot stronger than your usual idiotic zombies. . ." Eli spoke, knocking down the last zombie inside the house. The other one was pushed out.

"Let's all evacuate, yeah?" Nicole suggested.

"Yeah, no way in hell we can keep up with all these—" Christian started, but stopped. His eyes landing on Ruby, he walked forward towards her.

"Ruby? Are you hurt??" He asked worriedly, standing in front of her and looking down to her side, where she was holding with both her hands.

"Show me." He spoke, more like a demand than anything else.

Ruby reluctantly unhanded her waist, showing Christian. There was blood staining her shirt, and immediately Christians expression turned into one of concern.

"What happened? Did you get stabbed? Did the zombie do that?" Christian asked relentlessly.

"N-No. . The wood grazed my side when i fell back.." Ruby stated, speaking a bit weaker than usual.

But unfourtunately, the attention averted to the now broken front door.

"Dude, we really can't stay here any longer, or we'll become one of them. Perry is also hurt, but we have to find a way."

Christian, he seemed almost.. angered at those words. "Well she has her wound bandaged. Ruby could lose alot of blood, and it won't be a pretty sight!" He snapped back, The anger pretty clear in his voice.

Waylen sighed, stepping up and standing in front of Christian and Ruby.

"Go. I'll hold them off." He said. From his unusual serious tone, I could tell he meant it.

"Don't overestimate your abilities, idiot." Axelle rolled her eyes, but followed behind, Christian and Ruby upstairs.

"I'll help Waylen. You guys go." Nicole stated. I heavily wanted to argue with that, but knew it was no use.

I watched, and as Axelle glanced at me, I nodded in understanding. Eli looked at me, and sighed softly.

"Need help?" He asked. I chuckled a bit awkwardly, but replied.

"Yeah. . thanks." I said, before he helped me support myself without my crutches.

My crutches? They were already hell of a way behind me. So, I suppose you could say I held onto Eli for dear life as he made his way with me to the stairs. Nearing Waylen, he almost hit me, swinging at a zombie.

"Sorry," He muttered before going back to it with Nicole.

Eli supported me and held me as we climbed up the stairs, one of his arms around my waist, and one of my arms draped around his shoulder. A guy I met not even 2 days ago, though, what can I say, really? He's helping me afterall.

We managed to climb up, seeing Ruby being bandaged up by Axelle. She looked pretty hurt, despite the fact she was smiling. I can't trust that, since the girl is always smiling.

"What happened? Are you okay?" I asked, nearing Christians room, still being held by Eli.

Christian looked at me, and quickly back at Ruby, as if avoiding my gaze. I didn't think much of it, and with the support of Eli leaned against the doorframe, watching Ruby after she got bandaged up.

"We gotta hurry, Waylen and Nicole can't hold them off forever." Axelle exhaled sharply.

"Well what do we do?!" Ruby chimed in, still leaning against the bedframe of Christians bed.

"We gotta have some sort of distraction for the zombies so it's atleast a tad bit easier for Nicole and bandaid guy to come up here." Eli said.

"You mean Nicole and Waylen..?" Axelle scoffed softly.

"Yes, those folks." Eli leaned against a wall, next to Christian.

It was silent, until Christian broke through it with a suggestion, though more like an order."Alright, one by one, each of you climb out through the window. It's our best shot at escaping right now." The bolnde now helping Ruby up, walking to the window.

Just about then, Waylen hurried upstairs, and rushed into the room.

"Guys, please freaking hurry up! Nathan and his little minions are here! Nicoles fighting off the zombies but we've spotted them from afar." Waylen explained, making his way into christians room himself. Axelle, Christian and Ruby had already made their way out of the room through the window, on the rooftop probably above the garage.

Eli offered to help me out after Waylen, although I politely refused.

"Let's go before those minging creatures get up 'ere, yeah?"

"I'll wait for Nicole. I'm not leaving him here." I stated firmly.

"I'm sure he'll come, let's just head out so we can freakin' assure your bloody safety." He said, trying to convince me. But, i won't risk it. I've lost Nicole once, never again.

"No. I'm waiting, whether it takes all day, whether Nathan and his little guys come here or not." I replied, hoping to end this argument before it started.

"We can't bloody risk it, lass." He insisted, but I wouldn't budge. Never.

"Too freaking bad you can't 'bloody risk it.'! I'm waiting for Nicole, got it?!" I snapped a bit loudly. Eli sighed. He turned around and walked to the window, looking back at me once more.

"Dont die, mate." He said before climbing out himself. I sighed softly. limping my right leg a bit, standing about 10 decent feet away from the staircase, before i called out for Nicole.

"Nicole? Let's go already, everyone's waiting for you!!" I yelled down, but no response. Actually, there was a response, not one I liked or expected, though.

Groan.

"Nicole??" I called out again, but still to no avail. Now i was starting to get a bit worried.

"Nicole?!? Answer me if you're alive, dude!!" I yelled again, the concern more evident in my voice this time.

Groan.

Next thing i saw, was a shadowed figure coming up the stairs. . . pale-grey skin like a zombie, but Unlike any other I've seen, pupils remained in it's eyes.
