Chapter 1 - CH #1: THE STRANGER IN RAIN

The town of *Ravenhill* was small and quiet. It sat between green hills, where fog rolled in every morning, and the nights were cold and silent. People lived simple lives there. One of them was *Ethan Carter*.

Ethan owned a small book café on the corner of Maple Street. He loved peace, books, and black coffee. He didn't talk much and didn't have many friends. Some people said he was hiding from something. But no one asked, and he never told.

One rainy evening, just as Ethan was about to close his café, he saw someone standing outside in the rain. It was a young woman. She looked lost and scared.

Ethan opened the door and called out, "Hey, are you okay?"

The woman stepped in slowly. She was wet and shivering. "I think someone is following me," she said in a low voice.

Her name was *Lena Moore*. She had just moved to Ravenhill a few days ago. She didn't talk much about her past, but she said she wanted a fresh start. Ethan gave her a warm drink and let her stay until the rain stopped.Over the next few days, Lena kept visiting the café. She and Ethan would talk about books, music, and little things in life. Ethan started to smile more. Lena brought light into his quiet world.

But not everything was peaceful.

Across town, a man named *Derek Vaughn* was asking about Lena. He looked smart, confident, and rich — but there was something cold in his eyes. People said he owned businesses in big cities. No one knew he had once controlled Lena's life.

Lena was trying to run from him. And now, without knowing it, Ethan was getting pulled into her past.

One evening, as Lena was reaching for a book on a high shelf in the café, something dropped to the floor — a small envelope.

It had Ethan's name on it.

He picked it up.

It was in *Lena's handwriting*.

But what is this...

It was dated *three years ago*.

But they had just met...
