Emma stood in front of the mirror, carefully adjusting her outfit, but she couldn't shake off the nervousness building inside her. Her hand still held her phone tightly, Jacob's words echoing in her mind. Camila was in the delivery room, Jacob was worried, and everything seemed to be happening too fast.
She turned around and found Victor standing by the door, silently watching her. His expression was calm, yet he could clearly sense her unease. He walked towards her slowly and gently placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Emma, everything will be alright."
She lifted her eyes to meet his, searching for comfort in his voice. Then she sighed, "I know... but I can't help worrying. Camila is about to give birth, and Jacob was so tense. I've never seen him like that before."
Victor gave her a faint smile and took her hand in his, squeezing it gently. "Jacob is strong — and so is Camila. It's tough, yes, but it'll pass. Everything will end in peace."
Even though he was trying to reassure her, the worry still lingered in her heart. But she didn't want to show it. She slowly pulled her hand away and turned to check her bag, making sure everything was in place.
After a few quiet moments, she spoke firmly, "I want to go now."
Victor raised his eyebrows slightly, as if he had expected those words. Still, he only asked, "Aren't we going together?"
She shook her head and replied, "No, I don't want them to know we're back together just yet. I want to surprise them later, when the time feels right."
He looked at her for a moment, then smiled in understanding. He knew Emma well — knew how much she loved creating special moments for those she cared about. He didn't argue. He simply nodded and said, "Alright. Whatever you want."
Just before she headed to the door, she turned around quickly, stepped closer to him, and kissed his forehead gently. With a soft smile, she whispered, "I'll go ahead then. Don't be too late."
He watched her leave the room, a smile slowly forming on his lips. He hadn't expected her to come back to him so soon, but he was more grateful for it than words could ever express.
