"Ohh, please wake up now! If you don't, we're as good as dead!"
A muffled voice—half crying, half panicking—cut through Ethan's hazy consciousness. His brain felt like someone had poured cement inside it, but the wailing didn't stop.
"Because if you don't wake up, how the hell do we explain to Alpha Damien that you're lying here because you couldn't control your horny ass and went to fuck another Alpha behind his back, huh?!"
…
What?
That single sentence hit Ethan like a mental bomb.
Alpha?
Fucking?
Horny?? Him?!
His eyes jolted open. His brain was screaming questions before he could even form words.
Where the hell was he? What the hell was going on?!
White-painted walls. Designer curtains. A sleek hospital room that screamed money. Monitors beeped steadily beside him, and people actual nurses and doctors buzzed around the bed.
And the looks they gave him? Suggestive. Their eyes practically said, We're up for the deal whenever you're horny.
Wait—WHAT?!!
That look was because of what that voice just said? About him sleeping around?! Oh no. No, no, no!
Who was the bastard spreading that rumor about him?
"Cass! Cass! Cass!"
The annoying voice pulled his attention to a boy sitting next to the bed, his face lighting up like he'd just won a damn lottery because Ethan opened his eyes.
"Cass, you're awake!" the guy beamed, gripping his hand.
Cass?
Yes, Ethan thought numbly. He was awake. But… hold on. WHO THE HELL WAS CASS?!
His name wasn't Cass! Why was he being called that? And where the hell was he? Why was he in some luxury hospital instead of his tiny, burnt-down apartment?
Most importantly… why the hell was he even alive?
He was supposed to be DEAD. Burnt to a crisp. Choked to death by smoke. That was the last thing he remembered, his apartment in flames, his lungs giving out…
"What—where am I?" Ethan croaked, his voice hoarse as his head throbbed painfully. He turned to glare at the stranger. "And who are you? …And—" His lips trembled as the truth clawed at him. "Who am I?"
The boy froze. For a split second, his bright smile shattered into raw panic. Then his voice pitched high like a dying bird.
"Who am I? Don't..... don't tell me you've lost your memory, Cass! You don't remember me anymore?!"
Before Ethan could respond, the doctors swarmed him touching him everywhere in the name of a health check, asking rapid-fire questions about how he felt.
And honestly? He felt like hell. His body was weak, his head pounded like a damn drum, and everything hurt. Unbearably so.
But as they fussed over him, one thing started to sink in.
The name "Cass."
It sounded familiar. Too familiar to ignore. His mind scrambled, trying to connect the dots. He needed to figure this out fast. But first… these people needed to leave.
When the doctors finally asked if he had amnesia, Ethan forced a weak smile. "No… no memory loss. Just tired. I need rest."
They nodded and finally dispersed, leaving him alone with Mr. Sunshine at his bedside.
Ethan sucked in a breath. "First of all who the hell are you? And please don't overreact. My head already feels like it's about to split."
The boy's expression morphed between sadness, shock, and near-tears. "Cass… you just told the doctors you didn't lose your memory! Then what's with all these questions?! Did you really forget me? Should I call them back? Or maybe holy priests! A divine doctor! You can't lose your memory!"
Ethan groaned. This guy talked too much. Way too much, He could talk for ten straight hours and still not answer a damn question. "Don't call anyone. I… remember bits and pieces. Just… fill in the blanks for me, okay?"
The boy's mouth formed an "O," but before he could start babbling again, Ethan cut in sharply. "Tell me who the hell are you? Who am I? My name, my status, and everything. And how the hell did I end up like this?"
The boy hesitated before saying, "I'm Rin. Your best friend. And… your name is Cass Von. You're an Omega."
…
Silence.
Ethan's brain flatlined.
The moment those words left Rin's mouth, reality sucker-punched him.
Omega. Cass Von.
Holy. Shit.
He had transmigrated.
Not just into any story, but into that damn porn novel he read last night?!
And not even as the sweet female lead… no, no, no.
As the villain Omega.
The same bastard he hated with a passion.
Oh Lord, have I not suffered enough?! Why THIS?! Why freaking THIS?!
Oblivious to Ethan's inner meltdown, Rin kept talking like this was normal gossip hour.
"You ended up here because, as usual, your horny ass went looking for Alphas to 'relieve your needs.' And this time, after hearing Alpha Damien was coming back, you decided to have one last fling before he returned. But on your way back you got ambushed. I'm still investigating who did it."
Ethan's jaw dropped. "Wait—what? Sleep with Alphas? Alpha Damien?!" His voice cracked like a damn prepubescent boy. "As in DAMIEN HALE?! I'm already involved with him?!"
That was the male lead! The cold, obsessive Alpha who turned into a villain later. The guy who burned the world after heartbreak!
Rin asked, looking at him like he'd grown two heads. Then he said casually, "Of course you're involved. Kind of. Two months ago before he left you started rumors about the two of you dating. And Alpha Damien didn't deny it before he left, so… congratulations, Cass. The academy thinks you're his."
Ethan stared. Blank.
Oh, thank God. A rumor. Just a rumor. He could work with that. That meant this was still early in the story, right? He wasn't too deep yet.
Which meant he had a chance.
A chance to live quietly. To avoid the male lead like the plague. To NOT trigger the plot. And cause an apocalypse.
Because if he followed the old Cass's path… seducing Damien, breaking him, and turning him into a villain that destroys the world?
Yeah, Ethan was signing his own death warrant. And he wasn't ready to die. Not after being given a second chance.
He wanted peace. A long, drama-free life. Which meant one thing:
Stay the hell away from Damien Hale.
But… how was he supposed to do that when the original Cass had already planted rumors linking him to Damien?
Maybe… maybe he was overthinking. It was just gossip. Nothing serious. No big deal, just gossip. He could handle that—
But first, the bastards who put him in this condition needed to pay.
"Fine," Ethan muttered, turning to Rin with steel in his voice. "Speed up your investigation. I want those bastards found. They're going to pay."
Rin gave him a dry look. "Oh, you're worried about them? Cute. But maybe focus on the bigger problem first."
Ethan frowned. "Bigger problem?"
Rin's smile turned grim.
"Yes bigger problems like your lover Damien Hale returning!"
