A maid took her bag from the car as Evelyn led her to her room, she was sharing a room with her and Lily didn't stop talking about how big the mansion is.
That evening…
Evelyn and Lily went downstairs to have dinner together.
Kael walked into the dining room and froze. There she was his human mate with a little girl—curled on the chair with Lily, both munching food as if they'd always lived there.
Who is this and what is she doing here?
This is Lily, she will stay here with me so I can prepare her for her surgery"
His jaw tightened. "Two humans… living in my house?"
Evelyn looked up at him with feigned innocence. "Problem?"
"Yes," he growled, stepping closer. "I didn't agree to—"
"Stop being grumpy, Mr. Arrogant," Lily interrupted, swinging her legs.
Evelyn burst into laughter, and Lily joined her, Evelyn took Lily and they bothran upstairs chuckling. The sound made something in Kael's chest ache in a way he didn't want to name.
His wolf chuckled in his head. We have a funny mate.
Kael scowled, but his gaze lingered on Evelyn's smile longer than he intended.
Upstairs;
The two kept laughing.
Oh my god Lily, you just called him by the name I gave him"
Yes! Have you forgotten that I'm not scared of anybody not even that Mr arrogant"!
They chatted until Lily's eyelids began to droop. Evelyn hugged her tightly, whispering, "We're going to get you strong again, I promise."
The next morning,
Evelyn came down the grand staircase with Lily skipping at her side, her small hand clutching Evelyn's fingers. The dining table was already set—freshly baked bread, golden scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and bowls of fruit that looked like they had been arranged for a royal feast.
Lily's eyes went wide. "Evie… there's so much food. Are we having a party?"
Evelyn smiled faintly. "No, Lily. This is just breakfast here."
Before Evelyn could answer more, the sound of footsteps echoed through the hallway. Lucien strolled in first, his usual smirk in place, followed by Kael, tall and imposing as ever, his cold presence making the air in the room shift.
Lily, however, was completely unaffected. She leaned toward Evelyn and whispered—loud enough for everyone to hear—"That's Mr Arrogant, right?"
Lucien's smirk widened, glancing between Kael and Evelyn. "Mr Arrogant?" He chuckled, clearly entertained.
