Nothing on the body of a wizard was constant – his features, his bloodline, his movement… even further, if one wanted to impersonate you, it wasn't really difficult.
But, the sea of consciousness is in the deepest part of the soul.
If anyone had access to that, then you were basically dead, and it didn't matter whether your access was stolen or not.
The general function of the emblem was also rather simple – it worked like a digital id. It only proved your identity. In the databank, your identity is marked with another piece of information – your rank and your authority.
Elios then checked out the other pages before he bound it.
He only looked over things and understood these were basic functions, nothing he couldn't learn through looking at things by himself.
The only noteworthy information was that Grand Wizard (Ring Four to Six) level Emblems could connect to the CWCB everywhere the Magic Net reached, while apprentices could only do so in their private assigned dormitories.
Formal wizards (Ring One to Three) could connect to the CWCB at every Wizard Tower and other public connection spots.
Having finished reading, he put the book away and followed the described steps to bind the book.
He concentrated on his sea of consciousness, but this time, he didn't move to the centre.
Instead, he followed his instincts, flying through the sea.
Every position of the sea represented the body – it was like looking at the human form in 2d.
Only, it was very mashed up. The centre represented his head, but it was the centre of the sea, while the heart that represented magic strayed away to the northwest, the body sitting in the southeast.
In the northeast were his hands, in the southwest were his legs.
He moved to the northeast, to the very edge, the tip of his fingers.
Then he made a small movement – without any order or care, a small movement of mental power, creating a small rune string.
The string hovered on the spot for a moment before dissipating.
Elios instantly switched to the outside and just as the string dissipated, he felt through his bodies' instincts that there was a small movement in his right hand's ring finger.
"So this is my position?" he felt a whole new world at this moment – suddenly, he was able to cross the different realms of soul and body and feel the changes with instinct.
It was entirely different to his image that body and soul were fully separated.
He smiled 'I'm a bit biased towards things because of my past life… in the future, I should first try things out before assuming they are the way I imagine them to be. At least magic research is a must.'
Moving on, he looked at the other two books. One was titled "Basic Spellology" and the other "Wizard Apprentice's Obligations".
He took the latter first – knowing himself, he would be engrossed in the former the moment he opened it, maybe even forget the latter existed.
Elios read through it and summarised three core points for each rewards and responsibilities.
Responsibilities –
Every Apprentice has to take four missions yearly (New Apprentices are exempted in their first year) – the missions have to be successful, else they do not count. Every Apprentice has to participate in the year-end competition, where distribution of resources will be decided. Every Apprentice has to add one new rune circle every year (a true circle), to keep their position.
The former two were easier to understand, while the latter was different. Elios would take at most 135 days to complete this task, but this wasn't the case for those below him.
In general calculation, difference between mental recovery speed is 2x higher between each level of meditation talents – until the fifth stage, after that, it's a drastic increase.
A four star talent is 2x slower than five stars, a three star 2x slower than four stars, a two star 2x slower than three stars, and a one star 2x slower than a
Based on the five stars 135 day average for the first circle, it's 270days for four stars and 540days for three stars.
Naturally this is only their first rune circle, before they built it, they won't get kicked, as long as the days don't exceed two years
And afterwards… to keep up with this, three star talents have to quickly get used to it and take many missions to earn magic gold coins, which they can use to buy various potions that help with mental power recovery and such.
This is why only three star meditation talents can be taken, even if some two stars might have excellent learning talent. Without meditation talent of at least three, it will be take too long.
After all, if you really take over three years just for the first circle, even if you are slower for the next, in the end, you will still spend at least five years in the apprentice stage, just to build runes!
Every apprentice also has to spend a lot of time choosing their future direction, implementing various things, preparing items for their path…
And the tower's missions aren't actually missions. What could an apprentice really do? They are just welfare disguised as tasks, to teach the apprentices that nothing comes free.
As long as they put in the effort, even a three star should be completed in three years.
As for people like Elios… generally, he should be completed in the first year, and then strive for a better advancement.
He also had this idea, and fortunately, there are rewards for students who are faster than the average.
These are marked in the rewards –
Every year, apprentices who successfully completed their yearly rune circle will get 100 magic gold coins, free for them to use. Apprentices who completed their first rune circle faster than the average of the wizard tower will get one extra coin per day they were faster. Apprentices in their first year can visit the first floor of the library free of charge, the second floor once a month, and the third floor once in their first year.
The rewards were very biased towards new apprentices – later on, every library visit would cost 1 gold coin for the first floor and 10 gold coins for the second floor – the third floor ticket was not purchasable.
As for magic gold coins, they were the common currency of the Wizard Alliance. These were forged from gold, combined with magic power. Gold is a material that can be used everywhere – in alchemy, potion making, machinery, and so on.
The magic power content of them determines their value – one point of magic power is a normal magic gold coin, ten points is a red gold coin, hundred points is a purple gold coin, and thousand points is a platinum gold coin.
