Chapter 16 - 16: Arrogant Fatui Operatives

[Host: Han Feng]

[Available Manga: One Piece – East Blue Arc, Cardcaptor Sakura, Digimon Adventure Season 1]

[Mission 1: Receive 2 customers to earn a manga draw – Progress: 2/2 – Draw available]

[Mission 2: Cumulative 30 customer receptions for an exclusive reward – Progress: 4/30]

"Two more customers and I get another draw...

But after that, the requirement jumps to 10 per draw."

Han Feng frowned slightly as he checked the system.

The first few pulls had been relatively easy—

clearly newbie benefits.

But going forward,

he'd need to serve 10 customers just for a single chance to draw.

And given the shop's remote location,

regular foot traffic was nearly nonexistent.

All this made the mission significantly harder.

Which is exactly why Han Feng had agreed to Venti's offer.

Han Feng's goal in letting Venti "work" at the shop

was simple: leverage his fame to boost Relief Bookstore's reputation.

In a way, it was just free advertising.

Whether the ones who came were from the Knights of Favonius,

the Fatui, or even the Abyss Order—

Han Feng didn't really care.

As long as they followed the rules—paying for manga, reading peacefully—

they were customers.

All was well.

But if they came looking for trouble…

then sorry, the door's over there.

"Let's hope Venti actually does something useful this time."

Just as Han Feng was mulling this over,

the door to Relief Bookstore opened again.

Two new guests walked in.

On the left was a woman dressed in primarily white,

accented with golden embroidery.

A black leather swallowtail cloak draped from her shoulders, flowing down to her calves.

On the right was a figure in a deep violet wide-brimmed witch hat,

adorned with a purple rose.

A Vision of Electro hung at her chest,

and her shoulders were wrapped in a purple-lined white cape.

Her long violet robe clung to her waist before cascading downward.

Chestnut-brown hair framed her elegant features,

and a hint of enchantment shimmered in her eyes.

"Welcome, Acting Grand Master Jean and Miss Lisa.

Here to read some manga?"

Han Feng greeted them with a smile.

These two were pillars of Mondstadt.

Jean—dutiful and serious—devoted nearly all her time to her work.

Lisa—the librarian of the Knights—was a magical genius said to be a once-in-two-centuries talent from Sumeru's Akademiya.

She may seem laid-back, but there was little she didn't already have under control.

Seeing them here meant one thing:

his bookstore's reputation was starting to spread.

The two exchanged a quick glance—

there was a flash of surprise in their eyes.

This shopkeeper… seemed to recognize every customer that walked through the door.

"Hello," Jean said politely.

"Could you tell us more about the types of manga you have?"

She'd heard that reading manga could grant rewards,

but no one had gone into detail—likely to avoid spoilers.

So she and Lisa didn't really know what the stories were about.

"At the moment, we have three titles," Han Feng began.

"One Piece – East Blue Arc – a story about seafaring adventure and powerful fruits.

Cardcaptor Sakura – a tale centered around magic.

And Digimon Adventure Season 1 – about eight children transported to another world to fight monsters."

Seeing the two of them deep in thought, Han Feng added:

"100,000 Mora per person. One volume per day."

"Here you go."

Jean directly handed over 200,000 Mora.

Han Feng accepted the payment with ease.

Two more customers received.

That brought him to a total of 4/30,

and now he had two manga draws waiting.

Still, there was no rush. He'd draw later.

Jean and Lisa headed toward the bookshelf.

"I'll read this one."

Lisa picked up Cardcaptor Sakura and settled onto a nearby sofa.

The magic-themed manga intrigued her—

there might even be rewards tied to it.

Could be useful.

"Then I'll go with this one."

Jean, after some careful thought, chose One Piece – East Blue Arc.

Barbara had told her that Snowy could eventually evolve into the powerful Angewomon,

but that would take time.

Mondstadt didn't have that luxury right now.

They needed power—fast.

And in One Piece, there were rewards with that potential.

The Traveler was proof of that.

Jean also sat down and began to read.

Meanwhile – Outside the Knights of Favonius HQ

Several Fatui operatives in dark trench coats and masks had just arrived, exuding menace.

"I request an audience with Acting Grand Master Jean."

The leader—Anastasia, a Fatui diplomatic attaché—spoke coldly, her tone full of pride.

With the backing of Snezhnaya,

the Fatui walked with impunity across most nations—

and especially in a weakened Mondstadt.

She had come to investigate the Stormterror incident.

If Jean and her people failed to give a satisfactory answer,

it would give her leverage to demand access to the city's defensive plans.

"The Acting Grand Master is not currently here,"

the gate guard replied, his tone stiff with restrained dislike.

He didn't dare offend them—

but he certainly didn't like them either.

"Not here?"

Anastasia frowned.

Was Jean deliberately avoiding her?

Just as she was about to barge in,

another Fatui member approached with an update.

"Our scouts report that Acting Grand Master Jean and Librarian Lisa have gone to a local bookstore."

"…A bookstore?"

Anastasia blinked, surprised.

At a time like this,

the leader of Mondstadt's defenses had the leisure to read?

"How utterly refined of her,"

she said mockingly.

"Let's go find them."

Now she was even more confident

that she'd walk away with the city's defense plans in her pocket.
