Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Awed by the Queen's Radiance

This mental simulation felt far longer than the last.

Cang Ye's brows furrowed tightly as he processed the flood of memories, the dizzying influx of images causing a throbbing pain in his mind. It took a long moment for him to recover, his thoughts immediately filled with a complex mix of emotions and reflections.

If Cang Ye's journey in Britain were a game, then the three choices he had just weighed were the critical turning points that would decide his ending. The simulation had made it painfully clear: choosing to join Vortigern was a definitive "bad end."

In that timeline, although Cang Ye had gained immense fame and a physical prowess comparable to the great hero of the Age of Gods, Heracles, it had all ended in utter defeat. Whether it was being abandoned by Morgan or fighting alongside Vortiggen only to be slain just before the dawn of their new era, he had lost completely.

Worse, Artoria's fate remained unchanged. The world proceeded exactly as history had originally dictated. The impact he had made was nothing more than a fleeting ripple in the vast river of time.

"But thankfully, I still have another chance to choose."

Letting out a long breath, Cang Ye reaffirmed his original plan. He believed he wouldn't be as powerless as his simulated self. He then summoned the system to inspect the rewards from his successful simulation.

The skill 『Leader's Charisma』 was self-explanatory, but it was the other reward that surprised him: the talent 『Dragon Core』.

He didn't remember acquiring this skill during the simulation. Where had it come from? He vaguely recalled that this was a skill belonging to Artoria.

[Dragon Core (B): A special Magic Circuit possessed by Vortigern, the White Dragon of Britain. It functions as a self-sustaining source of magical energy. As this skill was gifted to you, its rank has been reduced to B. (Note: Due to the unique nature of this skill, you will awaken it at an opportune moment.)]

Cang Ye fell silent for a moment. He dimly remembered Vortigern seeming somewhat weary after bestowing his blessing upon him in the simulation. At the time, Cang Ye had assumed it was fatigue from preparing to draw the Anchor of the Planet. He never imagined this was the true reason.

Sighing softly, Cang Ye turned his attention to the final reward. It was a status effect, just like the one from the last simulation, called 『Gaze of the Goddess』.

[Gaze of the Goddess: At a certain time and place, upon touching a certain object, you will enter the sight of a certain goddess.]

Reading the cryptic description, Cang Ye's mouth twitched. "Is this Britain or Gotham City? Why is everything related to the White Dragon so damn cryptic?"

Voicing his complaint to no one, he waved his hand, setting the matter aside for now. Whether any 'gods' even remained in Britain during the decline of the Age of Gods was a question for another time. Both the new skill and the status effect were unusable at present.

He would deal with the future when it came. Right now, he had to figure out how to respond to Vortigern's invitation.

He looked up at the old man, whose hand was still extended towards him as if frozen in time. Cang Ye stroked his chin, considering his options. In the end, he decided against making up an excuse and chose to refuse Vortigern's offer honestly. The simulation had shown him that a sincere rejection was far better received by Vortigern than a hollow excuse. Besides, the Vortigern in the simulation had proven he wasn't a bloodthirsty tyrant.

With that, Cang Ye exited the simulation state without further hesitation. A second later, time resumed its normal flow.

[You have refused the Usurper King's invitation.]

[Vortigern is greatly surprised. He believed that knowing the secrets of the Age of Gods and your own impending doom, you would have no reason to refuse him.]

[However, he ultimately does you no harm. Muttering what a pity it was, he states that if you change your mind, you may seek him out at any time.]

[As you watch the Usurper King depart, you feel a sense of relief mixed with complex emotions.]

[You know that you will meet this White Dragon again.]

[After Vortigern's army has completely withdrawn from the forest, you and Britomart leave the area together.]

[In a town outside the forest, you once again encounter Gawain, from whom you had just recently parted. He is immensely relieved to see you standing before him, unharmed.]

[You learn from him that after he fruitlessly searched for you along Vortigern's path of approach, he guessed you were the target and rushed back to find you.]

[You are touched by his concern but still refuse his invitation to travel together, requesting that you part ways. This time, the farewell is final.]

[You then begin preparations to pledge your loyalty to Morgan. You know that to break the curse of Uther's perception of Morgan in the eyes of the world, you need more than just a rash declaration of allegiance. You need a story compelling enough to spread far and wide.]

[During this time, you discover that Gawain has spread the news of how you faced Vortigern alone and emerged unscathed.]

[People once again marvel at your strength. Your name resounds across Britain yet again.]

[You are, of course, pleased with this development, as it provides the perfect foundation and publicity for the story you are about to spread.]

[Soon after, the news that Lamorak, the Lion of Britain and the Knight of Radiance, has sworn fealty to Morgan, the new Queen of Camelot, shocks the world once more. Accompanying this news is a tale that is told and retold by all.]

[The knight Lamorak, through countless battles against Vortigern's forces, came to understand a fundamental truth.]

[War brings nothing but death, pain, and suffering to both sides.]

[The peace that follows is born only from the ashes of countless bodies and rivers of blood.]

[The compassionate Lamorak grew lost amidst the endless fighting. He sought to understand what true peace was, and what kind of life the people of Britain truly yearned for.]

[As he wandered, disillusioned and lost, a certain city and its ruler showed him a glimmer of hope.]

[Camelot, the Unfalling City.]

[This former royal capital, now occupied by the infamous Witch Queen Morgan le Fay, had been producing one miracle after another.]

[Impregnable walls, an endless supply of food, fair and light taxes, and a populace living in peace and prosperity. The Queen had even enacted policies to welcome and aid refugees. This vision, so starkly different from the current chaotic world, filled people with shock and longing.]

[The name 'Holy City of Camelot' began to spread throughout Britain.]

[The knight Lamorak, drawn by these tales, went to see it for himself.]

[And upon meeting Queen Morgan—the woman who bore the title of a witch yet performed the deeds of a saint—Lamorak knew he had found the one true king who could bring salvation to the people of Britain.]

[He said, "Only a king who can make their people smile from the heart is a truly worthy king."]

[And so, Lamorak swore his allegiance to Queen Morgan.]

[To his well-known titles of 'The Lion of Britain,' 'The Knight of Radiance,' and 'Lamorak the Noble,' he added a new prefix:]

[Morgan's Knight.]

Cang Ye stood atop the castle walls, gazing down at the city below. It was early morning. Sunlight pierced the thin mist, casting a glow upon the white city walls. In the streets, citizens were already up and about for the morning market, setting up their stalls and shops, their faces beaming with happy smiles.

"What a beautiful city," Cang Ye sighed, the sight one he had longed for countless times.

His gaze immediately shifted to the tall figure standing slightly ahead of him. She wore the same alluring blue gown, her long hair tied up in a high ponytail, strands of it falling against the delicate and beautiful curve of her waist, captivating Cang Ye's eyes.

This was the woman he had longed for day and night. His master, his king, and the one he adored.

"This is all due to your radiance, my lady Morgan."

Morgan turned slightly, her cool gaze falling upon the knight she had not seen in so long. Seeing the undisguised adoration in his eyes and hearing his respectful tone, a small smile graced her lips.

"It's been so long, and you're still such a smooth-talker, Lamorak."

She slowly walked forward, her soft, smooth hand caressing his cheek. "I thought you wouldn't come back, just like all the others."

Her voice was light, tinged with a hint of loneliness. It made Cang Ye's heart ache. He instinctively placed his hand over hers, his voice filled with tenderness. "You know I'm not like them, my lady Morgan."

"Of course you're not," Morgan smiled gently. "You are my property. If you were to betray me, I would make you regret it."

Her tone was soft and gentle, like a lover's whisper, yet Cang Ye could hear the absolute finality within it. But he didn't care.

"I am eternally loyal to you."

Cang Ye spoke these words as he took her hand and pressed a kiss to it. The gesture filled the air between them with an amorous tension. As their eyes met, they both saw the desire and heat burning in each other's gaze.

They had been apart for far, far too long. Just as Cang Ye had often thought of Morgan, the Queen of Camelot had likewise missed the knight who had brought her conviction and pleasure.

Finally, Morgan could no longer suppress her emotions. She threw herself into Cang Ye's arms, her own wrapped around him as her moist lips crashed against his.

With a snap of her fingers, they were instantly transported to her bedchamber. The room was just as it had always been, just like them.

Morgan pushed Cang Ye onto the bed, straddling him as she gave her command.

"It has been a long time. I wish to see if your skills have improved, Lamorak."

"I command you to remove your clothes."

"As you command, my lady Morgan."

Cang Ye obediently complied, shedding his clothes to reveal a body that was no longer as fair but was now harder, more defined, and covered in scars.

Morgan's fingers traced a path from his throat, across his chest, over his abdomen, and finally came to a stop at a certain place.

"Now, please me."

A smirk played on Morgan's lips as her hand slowly tightened its grip. At that moment, the emotions that had been building between them for months finally erupted.
