Just as he finished, he heard a noise. Without a word, he used the Flying Thunder God Technique and vanished.
"Hokage-sama, it's here!"
Kurenai Yūhi and Might Guy, along with a group of others, appeared on the scene—Sarutobi Hiruzen and several Anbu.
As for Kouki's shadow clone? It was a simple, low-level shadow clone. Deceiving Kurenai and Might Guy was easy, but it likely wouldn't fool the Third Hokage. So Kouki's clone made an excuse and parted ways with Kurenai and Might Guy, not accompanying them to see Hiruzen.
When Sarutobi Hiruzen received the report that the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist had appeared in Konoha, he was shocked and acted immediately. He rushed to the scene with Kurenai and Might Guy.
However, when Hiruzen and his elite forces arrived, they found the scene deserted. There was no sign of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, nor of the mysterious figure Kurenai and Guy had described.
"Hokage-sama, it's the Kubikiribōchō!"
An Anbu member reported in astonishment. The Kubikiribōchō was a famous blade, a symbol of Kirigakure.
Hiruzen had already seen it. He teleported to the Kubikiribōchō, picked it up, and weighed it in his hand.
"The Kubikiribōchō is left behind… could it be… that its owner is dead?" Hiruzen muttered to himself.
"Hokage-sama, you're right. The Kubikiribōchō's owner was killed by the mysterious person using black flames,"
Kurenai reported immediately.
"He was killed here?" Hiruzen asked.
Kurenai and Might Guy carefully identified the location, giving Hiruzen a definitive answer: "Yes, Hokage-sama, right here!"
Hiruzen gasped. The ground was bare except for the Kubikiribōchō. He'd been told the man was burned to death?
What kind of unbelievable flames could reduce a person to nothingness?! It was simply monstrous.
Hiruzen personally investigated the battlefield and eventually found the other four swords scattered around the area.
"There are five swords… could it be… that five of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen were killed by that mysterious person?"
Hiruzen felt his breath quicken.
How much time had passed since Kurenai and Might Guy had reported to him? That mysterious person had killed five of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen in such a short time?
The combined strength of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen was greater than that of a Kage!
But Hiruzen also understood the significance of the seven swords to Kirigakure and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen themselves. Unless the owners were dead, the swords wouldn't be left behind. It was highly likely that the owners of these five swords were indeed dead.
The thought sent a chill down Hiruzen's spine.
Suddenly, Hiruzen recalled the mysterious figure who had routed Ōnoki during Iwagakure's invasion of Konoha.
Could it be… the same person?

Two figures used the Body Flicker Technique, running desperately through the forests outside Konohagakure. Only after they had put considerable distance between themselves and the village did they finally stop.
The two figures panted heavily, their faces etched with terror, drenched in sweat, and pale with fear.
They were the two surviving members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen: Fuguki Suikazan and Jinin Akebino.
"I… I think we're safe, right? That terrifying guy didn't follow us?" Fuguki Suikazan looked back towards Konoha, his voice trembling as he asked Jinin Akebino.
