"This fog… something feels off," Uchiha Kouki said, his brow furrowing in concern.
"It's just fog. What's the big deal?" Might Guy responded dismissively.
"Hopefully, I'm overthinking it," Kouki shrugged, attempting to alleviate his unease.
The sudden fog blanketing Konoha was unusual, but most villagers didn't pay it much mind. Unbeknownst to them, however, outside the village gates, within the same thick, white fog, a group of ninjas stood poised.
All were from Kirigakure.
Seven individuals led the group, each of varying height and build, their attire distinctive and memorable. Each carried a fearsome, imposing great sword.
Anyone witnessing them would be instantly filled with shock and dread. These seven were legendary figures throughout the ninja world.
They were the Kirigakure's elite special forces unit: the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist!
Each swordsman was a jōnin, possessing exceptional individual strength. Their specialized, uniquely suited blades further amplified their already considerable power. Working together, they could conquer a small country overnight.
And now, they stood united outside Konoha's gates, poised to strike.
Behind them, a large contingent of Kirigakure's Anbu remained hidden within the dense fog, invisible to all but their own.
"Are the orders clear?" Fuguki Suikazan, one of the Seven Swordsmen, addressed the Kirigakure forces calmly, his gaze fixed on Konoha.
"The Seven Swordsmen will create chaos and distraction within Konoha. You will seize the girl named Rin Nohara!"
"Yes, Fuguki Suikazan-sama!"
A mechanical, emotionless response echoed from the fog.
"Let's have some fun in Konoha! My Kubikiribōchō is eager for a taste of blood!" Mangetsu Hōzuki shouldered his greatsword, his voice low and menacing.
"Begin the operation!" Fuguki Suikazan gave the command.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
A series of rushing sounds cut through the air as numerous Kirigakure ninjas, utilizing the Body Flicker Technique, began their infiltration of Konoha.
"What's going on? The weather changed so fast! This fog appeared out of nowhere…"
"I know, right? The sun hasn't even set yet… uh…"
Two Konoha guards stationed at the gate were expressing their bewilderment when, silently, hands emerged from the fog, clamping over their mouths.
Swish swish!
Simultaneously, two blades sliced across their throats. Blood spurted, and the two Konoha ninjas fell silently, their deaths swift and brutal.
The Kirigakure ninjas began their advance, infiltrating Konoha unimpeded.
However, Konoha's ninjas weren't defenseless. Hidden Anbu and Konoha Military Police, after suffering initial casualties, finally reacted. The sudden fog wasn't natural; it was Kirigakure's Hidden Mist Jutsu!
Konoha was under attack by Kirigakure!
The news quickly reached Sarutobi Hiruzen, who was shocked and enraged. Ōnoki had recently led an attack on Konoha; now it was Kirigakure. Was Konoha, the strongest village, so easily targeted?
Hiruzen immediately mobilized his forces, launching a full-scale counterattack. But Kirigakure's Hidden Mist Jutsu was, essentially, an assassination technique.
The dense fog severely hampered visibility. Unless they could sense chakra, most ninjas were vulnerable to silent, deadly attacks.
By the time Hiruzen and other powerful jōnin combined their Wind Release techniques to disperse the fog, Konoha had suffered significant losses.
A number of Anbu were dead. The Kirigakure ninjas had already completed their infiltration, dispersing and hiding throughout Konoha.

"What's going on? The fog's lifting?"
"Yeah, this is strange. This fog is definitely not ordinary."
"Something's happened."
Uchiha Kouki, Might Guy, and Kurenai Yūhi, even in their initial confusion, quickly understood that this fog was no ordinary weather phenomenon.
"The village is so quiet… wait, I hear fighting ahead!"
Their expressions changed, and they quickly ran towards the source of the sounds.
Rounding a corner, they arrived at the source of the commotion, and were stunned by what they saw.
Seven tall figures, each wielding a unique greatsword, were strolling casually through the streets, acting as if Konoha was their own village.
The three of them recognized instantly that these weren't Konoha ninjas.
"Who are you?! What are you doing in Konoha?!"
Kurenai stared intently at the seven, her voice sharp and demanding.
"The… the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist! Red, they're the Seven Ninja Swordsmen!" Might Guy gulped, his mind reeling. His voice was filled with a mixture of shock and disbelief.
These were seven incredibly powerful jōnin! Each could easily defeat the three of them individually. And there were seven of them.
"The Seven… Ninja Swordsmen…?" Kurenai also gasped, breaking into a cold sweat. The implications were terrifying.
