It was morning already. The sky outside was still gloomy, and Nert had long left the cave to scout the landscape. According to him, this region was already a few miles past the volcano, which meant she was now closer to the direction of the tower.
She always wondered how Nert did it—how the boy managed to slip past an army of monsters and Havocs to reach this place without breaking a sweat. But knowing what he could do didn't make it unbelievable. Someone that weak surviving this forest alone should have been impossible, yet here he was… healthy and alive.
He was dangerous.
Kelly had always prided herself on recognizing people who could be a threat. And even though he wasn't strong, he still set off every warning alarm in her head, telling her not to underestimate him.
Not that she ever planned to anyway.
Shivering from the cold, Kelly called out in her mind. "Hey, system, you've been quiet for a while now. Are you still alive?"
