Day 3 of traveling together
Orea and Valtor continued to walk, neither of them uttering a word
Suddenly glancing at Valtor as if remembering something, Orea broke the silence,..You know, I've been thinking about it, and I've realized that getting to know me has helped you in more ways than one
Valtor turned to her in amazement, in what ways exactly?
First of all, you've learnt to control your power
Okay
You no longer have to travel alone
Actually that goes for both of us, Valtor disputed,..and if we're being honest, it's more like 'you've' benefitted more from our 'friendship', Valtor took note of her reaction to the last word he said, she seemed okay with it
How have I benefitted more, she cocked her head at him
Let's see, he began to count with his fingers as he recalled,
one, I shared my food with you
two, I saved your life
three...
Okay.. she cut in, yeah you helped me, but I probably would've found my way out of the hole in the end..so
Really?, he chuckled
Yes really, she replied
Okay, we both know that's not true, there's no way you could've dug yourself out,..he paused on noticing they had somehow ended up face to face with each other while the look in Orea's eyes had changed to a more serious one
Staring into his eyes, she placed an arm on his shoulder and moved closer
Valtor could feel his heart beating faster than usual, he placed his hand on his chest as if to calm it down. Her face was now inches away from his, her proximity sent his thoughts spinning,..was she flirting, was this supposed to be a prank or for real?
as the warmth of her touch seeped into his skin, his mind continued to race with possibilities
Something's out there, she whispered, snapping him out of his thoughts, don't make a sound, she added as she walked past him towards the other direction
Valtor remained frozen in the same spot for a while wondering how oblivious she was to the effect her actions had on him.
Heaving a long sigh and finally turning around, he followed closely behind her,..where are we going?
Shh!, she hushed as they walked back into the same woods they just walked out of, do you hear that, she asked as they moved further deep
Valtor stopped to listen,.. sounds like feet walking around
Not just feet, she replied, a little mumbling too, it sounds like there's another human out here
But shouldn't we have noticed since we just walked through here, Valtor wondered
I know, I was wondering the same thing
Who's there..stay back, a terrified voice rang out
Valtor walked past Orea, following the voice which led to a young boy, standing in the middle of the woods, he looked a little skinny, he also had jet black hair and caramel skin but his eyes were more greenish,..he looks like me, Valtor thought.
Stay back, the boy repeated
Calm down, we're here to help, Orea replied but he didn't seem to listen as he began to take few steps back
He's really scared, Orea thought as she turned to face Valtor, is this how terrified I was when you found me?
Less terrified, more deadly, he replied, earning a stink eye from her
Valtor decided to move forward,
Hi I'm Valtor,.. this is Orea, he indicated to her while she waved, we mean no harm, we actually met each other here in this forest in the same position we just found you.
The boy continued to listen,
We know you're terrified and have no idea where you are and how you got here and neither did we. But we're now on a mission of getting out of here and finding out exactly where we came from, we just wanted to know if you would like to tag along.
