Valtor gathered wood and made a fire as it began to get dark while everyone gathered round. As they began to get comfortable on the ground, Kymani continued to stare at Valtor and the new girl, eager to know their story
So how'd you guys meet?, he spoke up
Valtor decided to start from the very beginning,.. I went searching for food as you guys know..
Yet you came back empty, Kymani cut in,.earning a glare from all three of them, sorry..he apologized, please continue.
Valtor resumed,..while searching, I got attacked by another one of those monsters again, I tried to fight it but I couldn't because I was too weak to use my powers, so I took the other option of running away and ended up getting lost. He paused to make sure they were following,..while trying to retrace my steps, the ground shook and a sudden force pulled me to the ground, after getting back up, I noticed a light it produced. My curiosity got the better of me so I followed the light and that's how I found Zara, he glanced at the girl by his left.
So what did the light have to do with you, Kymani faced her
I have Forcefield abilities, Zara spoke for the first time, that was what affected Valtor from miles away, it usually produces light whenever I use it.
Kymani nodded in understanding
So, Valtor tells me you guys have powers too,..she continued
Yeah, Kymani replied, invisibility for me, Valtor produces fire and Orea... I'm still not sure what she has
It's weather control, Kymani..Orea briefly replied
Great, Zara commented with little to no expression, well I followed Valtor back here for just two reasons; one, to see if he was telling the truth about other humans existing in this place and two,..to let you guys know that you're all going the wrong way.
They subconsciously glanced at each other, then back at her
Sorry, what?.. Valtor had to ask
I got to the end of the forest, she outrightly replied, that place you met me, she briefly glanced at Valtor, it's a dead end. This entire forest is barricaded by some metal wall which I was trying to break through with force field..and after all that energy, so strong you felt it miles away,..not a single scratch was on that wall,.. it's impenetrable, she concluded.
That's it?,..so,..what now? Kymani asked after a brief silence
We have to go the other way, she replied
The other way?.. it was Valtor's turn to ask, there's a huge body of water on the other side of this place
then that's our way out,..Zara insisted
Do you happen to have a way of getting across an ocean?, Orea faced her
'We'll cross it when we get there' was her reply.
Later that night while everyone lay asleep, Orea tossed around, unable to catch any sleep, thoughts of tonight's discussion replayed in her mind. Noticing Valtor was facing the same difficulty, she crawled next to him
Having trouble sleeping?, she asked as Valtor turned towards her, bringing them face to face
A little, he replied
I wanted to ask you something, she continued, did you see this impenetrable wall she was talking about?
Yeah,.. from a distance, it looked like solid metal,..he stared at her, observing her reaction, you're wondering if it's wise for us to go all the way back after coming this far, aren't you?
she sighed, you might call it trust issues, but are we really turning our backs after all it took to get here just because she said so?
I know, it sounds crazy, he replied,..you know what, how about we get to this wall and confirm just how 'impenetrable' it is, and if she's right, we'll come up with a plan on what to do next..together,..better?
Much better, she smiled satisfyingly
I also have something to ask you, Valtor sat up, what exactly did you think happened to me after I went missing for a whole day?
Orea also sat up as she replied, that you got attacked by those creatures, and was in danger, I even thought as far as you getting killed,..that's why I led Kymani into searching for you
Tell me, Valtor started in a soft low tone as he stared into her eyes, did you do that because you felt it was the right thing to do.. or was there an extra feeling attached to it?
Orea could feel heat rising inside her on hearing his question as she stared into his sky blue eyes
Of course I have feelings for you dummy, why'd you think I got so emotional when you came back, I know we've only known each other for a short while but ever since you came back to help me, I began to see you in a different light, plus you're like the nicest, sweetest person I know, so yes I like you...ok, there's no was I'm telling him all that.., she thought to herself.
It felt like the right thing to do, she spat, immediately regretting her tone,..shit!, why did I say it like that!..that was way too cold, did I just ruin our friendship?.. maybe I should add something?..
Of course, Valtor interrupted her thoughts as he flashed her a smile, thanks for being honest
Orea continued to watch him, unable to read his thoughts while he did the same till there was an awkward amount of silence between them
I..I think I'll go back to sleep now, Orea staggered as she moved,.. good night.
Good night, Valtor mumbled and lay back with even more thoughts going through his mind.
