Chapter 10: The Revenge of the Rogues (and Jisoo's Naming Convention)
"Oh, it's a two-for-one special!" Adam exclaimed, practically bouncing on his toes as the news reports flashed images of Captain Cold and a new, fire-wielding metahuman wreaking havoc. "Fire and ice! The classic duo! Like Todoroki and… well, just Todoroki. Or maybe those two bickering siblings from Frozen."
Jisoo, who was sketching tiny, intricate designs on a napkin, looked up. "He's very loud," she said, referring to the fire metahuman. "And angry. Like a very aggressive hot pepper."
"That's Mick Rory, aka Heat Wave," Cisco announced, his fingers flying across the keyboard. "He's Snart's new partner in crime."
"Heat Wave," Jisoo mused. "No. 'Fire Boy.' Or 'Hot Head.' Much better."
"No, it's Heat Wave!" Cisco protested, throwing his hands up. "It's iconic! It's intimidating!"
"It's boring," Jisoo deadpanned, returning to her sketch. "Fire Boy. Final offer."
Adam grinned. "This is going to be a recurring theme. And I am here for it."
Snart and Rory were a formidable pair, their combined powers of ice and fire causing chaos. They were planning to kidnap Iris, and Barry was struggling to keep up with both of them. Adam, watching the live feed, felt a familiar surge of mischievous energy.
"System," Adam thought, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "Major Wish: 'Elemental Swap.' Target: Captain Cold's gun and Heat Wave's flamethrower. Make them switch effects. Temporarily. Preferably when they're aiming at each other."
[SYSTEM MESSAGE]: Major Wish 'Elemental Swap' Used. Cost: 50 Days. Current Wish Balance: 291 Days. Rogues' frustration: Extreme. Host's amusement: Peak.
In the middle of a tense standoff, as Snart aimed his cold gun at Barry and Rory prepared to unleash a blast of fire, their weapons suddenly, inexplicably, swapped effects. Snart's cold gun blasted a stream of fire at Rory, who shrieked as his flamethrower shot a beam of ice at Snart.
"What the hell?!" Rory yelled, covered in ice.
"You idiot!" Snart roared, his face singed. "You froze me!"
They immediately turned on each other, their villainous partnership dissolving into a chaotic, comical brawl of accidental ice and fire blasts. Barry, momentarily bewildered, used the opening to disarm them both.
"Did… did their guns just switch powers?" Caitlin asked, utterly confused.
Cisco, however, was laughing so hard he could barely breathe. "That was… that was amazing! Best. Fight. Ever!"
Adam simply nodded, a picture of smug satisfaction. "Fifty days well spent. Totally worth it for that level of villainous self-sabotage."
Later, as Cisco was grumbling about the Rogues and their unpredictable nature, Adam approached him. "Hey, Cisco," he began, "you know how you're always trying to invent new gadgets? What if I told you I could… enhance your process? Make your brainstorming sessions more efficient? Give you a little… creative boost?"
Cisco's eyes lit up. "You can do that? How?"
"Trade secret," Adam said, winking. "But for a small, one-time fee of, say, twenty-five days, I can guarantee you'll be cranking out new tech faster than Barry can run through a wall."
Cisco hesitated for a moment, then, intrigued by the prospect of enhanced gadgetry, nodded. "Deal. But if my coffee starts tasting like glitter, I'm blaming you."
[SYSTEM MESSAGE]: Wish Trade initiated. Customer: Cisco Ramon. Wish: Gadget Enhancement. System Estimate: 15 Days. Host Proposed Trade: 25 Days. Profit: 10 Days. Customer agreed. Wish granted. Current Wish Balance: 301 Days.
As the Rogues were being carted away, Mick Rory managed to break free for a moment, aiming a blast of fire at a group of terrified civilians. Jisoo, seeing the danger, didn't hesitate. Her eyes glowed with a fierce, reddish light, and a shimmering, translucent heat shield materialized, deflecting the flames harmlessly.
"Hot Head," she said, her voice calm but firm, "no burning innocent people. Bad boy."
Rory stared at the shield, then at Jisoo, utterly bewildered. Barry quickly apprehended him.
Adam watched Jisoo, a profound sense of pride swelling in his chest. "She's a natural. A magical, snack-obsessed, villain-naming, protective queen. And she just called Heat Wave 'Hot Head' to his face. My life is truly a masterpiece of chaos." He looked at his Wish Day balance, steadily increasing. "This business venture is going to be wildly successful. And I owe it all to her. And my questionable pranking habits."
