Chapter 5 - Truth

Levian was brought to the Great Hall, and made to answer to his father, Odin.

The hall was giant, lined with marble pillars stretched to the ceiling, and decorated with art, depicting some of the finest moments of human history.

Levian stood there, facing off with Odin, who sat on the throne.

Nobody else was around, as he had ordered the room to be empty. Not even his wife.

The blonde bearded man sat there in a brown suit, his red cape draping down to his ankles.

His eyes glared at his son, intensely.

"Why do you look so tense?" He asked, deep voice echoing through the room.

Levian stood there, frozen. His black hair was slick with sweat.

"Keeping a mythical weapon inside of my soul space is exhausting."

It seems to be the one downfall of this ability.

I couldn't imagine keeping two in here at once!

Odin nodded his head slowly, but his face remained unchanging.

"That is because you're too weak to wield such a mighty item, which brings me to my first question. How did you come into possession of it?"

Levian hesitantly explained his talent to his father.

Unlike with Cassius, he was unable to hide the secret of his second talent, the Weapon Fusion.

After all, it was how he had come into possession of the blade, Nyx, a weapon stronger than he had the right to own.

However, he lied and said that the talent only worked once every 31536000 seconds (one year) which made sense for a talent so powerful.

As he explained, Odin's face didn't change.

He waited for his son to finish speaking, whilst pouring himself a glass of red wine from a flask.

He took a sip.

"I do not believe that you own such a talent."

Odin reached into the insides of his suit pocket and withdrew a small steel dagger.

Then, he slid it across the hall floor until it stopped at Levian's feet.

Levian felt conflicting thoughts.

On one hand, he wanted to prove himself to his father.

Prove that he was not a failure, and was just as capable as his two older brothers.

But on the other hand, he was not a clown.

He didn't want his talent to be paraded as though it was some sort of theatre show.

So at that moment, he decided.

This will be the last time that I use this ability just for the sake of proving something to others.

From this point on, I will prove myself with achievements alone.

Levian lifted the steel dagger and put it inside his soulspace.

Alongside the Mythical weapon, it felt like a mere needle.

Afterwards, he willed the weapon into existence.

Lord Odin's sharp eyes went wide.

[Legendary Weapon Acquired!]

The new dagger in Levian's hand was majestic.

Its name was Whisperfang.

It was a slender, curved dagger forged from blackened silver that reflected no light.

Faint runes glowed along its spine, changing shape constantly.

The hilt was wrapped in worn, dark leather that felt warm to touch, and a single crack ran through the blade, pulsing faintly with a red glow.

Levian didn't even need to read over the description of the weapon.

He simply slid it across the floor towards his father, who picked it up with eager hands.

The man turned the blade over in his hand, inspecting it carefully. Then, he struck the air, testing its speed.

Once done, he nodded his head and placed the dagger back into his suit jacket.

"This... is revolutionary. In fact, if there are no drawbacks, then this could be one of the most powerful talents known to man."

Levian hid his smile, but pride flowed through him.

There were many incredible SSS-rank talents, and few X-rank.

However, due to how rare mythical weapons were, Levian's stood above most others.

"But, it is wasted in your hands."

The sudden cold words caught him off guard.

"W-what do you—"

"A mythical weapon is incredible, but in the hands of a man that awakened two years too late, its potential is decreased significantly."

Levian felt his blood boil.

His fists clenched.

Yet, he couldn't disagree.

If this talent had fallen into the hands of any of his brothers, then they would have become one of the strongest humans in only a matter of years.

No... I can do it too.

There's a reason that this talent was given to me.

I'll become greater than my father himself!

Lord Odin raised his brows in surprise at the flare he noticed in Levian's face.

"Oh, you think I'm wrong?"

Levian nodded his head.

You are wrong.

His father rose to his feet and stepped away from the chair where he sat.

Then, Levian suddenly noticed something.

A golden aura began to radiate from his large form.

The aura was so powerful, that it felt like he physically couldn't move, and it only grew greater with every passing second.

Now, the aura spread across the hall, covering the ground in thick golden mist.

SHRKKKK.

Levian heard a sharp tearing noise from somewhere behind the fog.

He had to squint to get a better look.

There, he saw it. His father Odin had his two muscular hands clawing into existence itself.

He pulled them apart, and a tear appeared in the air, similar to when the skeleton had tried to enter his room.

Odin ripped open the air, and a sudden silver portal appeared, floating impossibly.

Odin relaxed, and his aura began to dissipate. Though even after performing such a feat, he had not wasted much energy.

This was done using TRUTH, a multipurpose ability that is only unlocked once an Awakened reaches platinum rank.

Levian knew exactly what the portal was.

A silver-ranked dungeon that his father had found the ethereal location of.

Odin looked over towards his son.

"You're a low bronze, bottom of the barrel." He spat, not bothering to soften his words. "If you want to prove that your talent means something, then clear this silver dungeon, and return to me alive."

Levian gulped.

To clear a dungeon a whole rank above your own was usually an impossible feat to pull off alone.

However, Levian knew that he wasn't alone.

He had Nyx, his mythical blade.

He allowed his confidence to soar through the roof. He repeated words of affirmation to himself as a reminder that he had something that no other man did.

If I let this talent go to waste, then I'm no better than an Unawakened.

He stared into his father's gaze, unfazed.

"Close it and take me to a gold rank dungeon. I'll show that I'm the strongest son of the Bladeblessed family."
