"I'm sorry this gig south so fast Hayden, shit there is no way in hell I'd make any of my mercs take on such a suicide mission like that on their own." Arthur said after we left the Totentanz and were hanging out by his car.
"It's a suicide mission for anyone else, but I could handle it, just the pay isn't enough to make it worth my time is all, but since for now this job is a bust you got any other gigs going on right now or am I gonna have to look to the other fixers for work for now?" I said leaning up against his car.
Hearing that he rubbed his chin, "Well I do have this other job, it's also dangerous but not on the level of a suicide mission, and the guy offering the gig is none other than Kurt Hansen, leader of the newly made Barghests down in Dogtown." Arthur said making me nod.
Barghests and Dogtown only came to be a thing when the Unification War ended and Kurt turned his back on the NUSA and decided to take this chunk of Night City for himself and his Barghests making Dogtown the newly founded Black Market of Night City under his control alone with only a few of his hire ups being still from the team he was apart of back when he was still with the NUSA and Militech.
"And what's the Gig this time?"
"Attacking an airborne Convoy, supposedly it has a diplomat from the NUSA in it and possibly the NUSA will want to seek permission to have their troops attack Dogtown to get back at Kurt for turning traitor on them, but even if the Diplomat makes it here the chances the Corps and the City Government actually agreeing is real low, but Kurt doesn't want to take any chances so he's setting up a job like this." Arthur explained before opening the door to his car.
"Hop in and I'll take you there if your up to the task." He says to me, to which I pull out my car called and switch it to Home before pressing it as my car turns on and leaves the parking lot.
I nod and get on in the car before he turns it on as we leave and head south through night city all the way to Pacifica and straight to the car entrance of Dogtown.
Now there were heavy turrets guarding the gate with heavily armed Barghest members on watch as we pulled on through.
The gate closed behind us before a scanner began to scan through the car, but seeing it was both clear and had permission to use this gate we were let on through.
"Welcome to Dogtown, Night City's very own shit hole and blackmarket, weapons, cyberware, cars, even things that would be considered Warcrimes to own are all sold in this place." Arthur described Dogtown as we drove on by ruined buildings along with heavily armed Barghest members walking the streets.
Soon enough we came upon it, the Black Sapphire, to which we parked right outside of before walking towards the entrance which was the lobby but as there was no glass surrounding the lobby and barely any real supports leaving it open along with many guards and crates around the place along with lockers near the elevators.
They didn't stop us was we walked in but the guards halted us at the central elevator, "State your name and Business." The guard said to us while holding a assault rifle in his hands.
"Arthur Cormac, here to talk business with Kurt Hansen about a job he has." Arthur said to the guard who's eyes began to glow and a few moments later they went back to normal and nodded.
"Put your weapons in the lockers and proceed to the top floor, The boss will meet with you in the casino second floor." The guard said as we looked at each other but Arthur shrugged and did what was asked, so I did too.
Seeing we had put everything away and doing a double check pat down they open the elevator as we entered and headed up to the 99th floor.
When we came out the scenery was like an extreme shift from the dump the Dogtown was like below and the high class posh environment that was this casino was like above.
"Well I stick out like a sore thumb." I muttered as I followed along with Arthur, we could have played games at the Casino but I wasn't to interested letting Barghest get my creds that easily so we made our way upstairs where we entered one of the open booths to which a waitress came on by.
"Would the gentlemen be interested in any drinks?" She asked as Arthur looked at me as I looked to her.
"Surprise me, but make it strong." Is all I said to which she nodded and left.
"So, how do you plan on taking this job?" Arthur asked me through our holo so nobody could hear what we were saying.
"Depends upon how much of a hassle it is to take down the air convoy, but based upon needing outside help like this then maybe the convoy can't be taken down by rockets easily." I said to him before our eyes stopped glowing as me and Arthur saw a man begin to approach us.
Without saying anything he then sat opposite to us, "Arthur, I take it this is the Merc your suggesting to take on my job?" The man, who was none other than Kurt Hansen, asked Arthur who was now lighting a Cigar and smoking it.
"New to NC but from previous work he is know to get the job done no matter how hard the standards are set, but won't do anything that's not worth the price to do the job." Arthur simply explained as Kurt looked at me and began to scan me with his optics.
"See anything you like?" I ask since I could just feel my body being scanned instinctively, before his eyes stopped glowing as his eyes squinted.
"No, because thing is, not knowing anything about you at all makes me more suspicious by the second." He said making me look at Arthur who just smoked and didn't say anything before looking back at Kurt.
"Well, Everyone has their secrets, but if I had to take a guess you think I might have connections to the NUSA and the military at that, but let me ask you this." I said before grabbing at my helmet which glowed green for a second before pulling my hand away.
Only for a chrome skull to look back at him, "I doubt the NUSA would be dumb enough to send a chrome skulled gonk like me straight into the serpents den like this." I said as he saw my looks under my Ash Helmet, well the looks I would use for anyone that isn't a trusted ally.
And soon enough I would find myself some trusted allies of my own through both familiar and New faces at that.
