Synopsis
As kids, we all dreamed of becoming superheroes flying through the sky, lifting cars, and casually saving the day with a wide smile. We imagined it to be something that made us look like an absolute badass. All of that is a lie though. No one tells you what it's really like to be chosen by powers beyond your comprehension. No one warns you about the pressure of being a "hero." About how every choice you make can indirectly harm those you were trying to protect -Authors Note- Another fate fic which I probably won't be consistent with but to be honest this idea only came to me after watching the superman movie when it first came out.

Chapter 1 - Prologue - Captain Marvel Has Vanished?

Normal POV

Shibuya city was in ruins.

Buildings were split apart, cars in complete ruins, various explosions of fire were going off, and from the sky bolts of yellow and blue lighting clashed against each other.

A man in red, with a massive white thunderbolt symbol on his chest, and a black hooded cape charged himself headfirst into another man dressed in a similar attire only difference was the symbol being yellow and color scheme of the outfit being all black.

The man in red held the other in a strong hold as they flew all the way down towards a museum.

Meanwhile the man in black attempted to break his hold by repeatedly landing harsh blows on his back but the man in red gritted his teeth pushing through the pain until they finally crashed into the museum.

Some of the civilians still inside screamed as they ran away towards somewhere safe.

The man in red was now holding the other man in a choke hold "it's over Black Adam! Stand down!" said the red man.

Black Adam snarled "I will never surrender to a mere child!" he then turned his attention to a family trying to escape and with glee he shot out a beam of golden electricity from his eyes.

"NO!!" the man in red roared pulling Adam back by his hair in order to slow him down.

Undeterred though Adam fought against his hold to keep firing "if you really love these people so much....then you can mourn for them Suzuki Oreki," he growled with a look of glee.

"DAMN IT PLEASE STOP THIS ADAM! DON'T MAKE ME HAVE TO DO THIS!!" Suzuki begged with tears beginning to form in his eyes.

"Never!" Black Adam persisted golden electricity raging from his eyes inching closer to the terrified family as their screams filled the ruined halls of the museum.

Suzuki's muscles trembled, his grip on Adam's body tightening like a vice his heart pounded in his ears louder than the cracking thunder around them.

The electricity was now mere inches away now.

The smell of ozone grew intense.

The heat.

The cries.

He had no choice.

"I am so sorry..." Suzuki whispered his voice cracked, raw and broken.

With a sudden snap he wrenched Adam's head to the side hard.

There was a thunderous crack as bone gave way beneath divine force and the golden lightning in Adam's eyes flickered before fading completely.

His body slumped forward completely limp.

Silence followed after, leaving behind only the trembling sobs of the family.

Suzuki stood frozen arms still wrapped around Adam's now-unmoving body his breath was shaky, shallow.

His blue eyes wide in disbelief, staring into nothing he finally had done it.

He had crossed the line.

He held Adam's body in a bridal carry as the family looked up at him, unsure whether to thank him...or fear him.

Suzuki slowly floated in the air the black hood of his cape hiding his trail of tears away, he glanced up at the family with sorrowful eyes.

"This...this wasn't supposed to happen," he whispered.

Gripping Adam's body Suzuki let out a cry of "SHAZAM!!" then with a deafening crack both he and the now dead Black Adam were gone.

Four Years Later

14-year-old Suzuki Oreki sat in the Chiba police station having been caught by the police after escaping another foster home.

He was leaning against a chair broodily staring at the ceiling before turning his attention over to the various TV screens nearby playing the news.

"Where is Captain Marvel?"

"Once hailed as the protector of Japan and even the world... he has been absent for four years. No sightings, no rescues, and no lightning in the sky."

A middle-aged male anchor continues in a grave tone.

"Four years ago, Captain Marvel stopped the world's first supervillain Black Adam in what can only be described as a catastrophic battle in Shibuya. Which left two hundred injured and over one hundred twenty dead. While the destruction caused was immense, it's widely believed that if not for Marvel the casualties could have numbered in the thousands."

"And then... he vanished."

Another anchor, a younger woman started to report this time.

"Government forces deny any knowledge of his identity, and no trace of him or Black Adam's remains have been recovered. Some believe he died in that explosion others say he gave up the mantle."

A professor from Tokyo University appears in a pre-recorded interview.

"Captain Marvel was a symbol not just of strength but of hope. His absence... it's more than physical. It's psychological he left a hole one that no one has been able to fill."

The tv screen cuts to an on-the-street interview with a civilian, a tired-looking woman in her thirties holding her daughter's hand.

"My daughter still looks out the window every night hoping she'll see lightning in the sky. She calls it the 'hero flash' I tell her not to get her hopes up but I still hope too..."

"Crime is rising and faith in justice is faltering....Captain Marvel wherever you are the world still needs you," the news anchor concluded with a sorrowful look.

Suzuki swallows the painful lump in his throat as a Police Officer came by again "alright kiddo someone in Fuyuki City has offered their home to foster you. A miss Taiga Fujimura and her other ward Emiya Shirou he's a bit older than you but the social workers think that it would be best for you to go somewhere without other kids to bother you," he explained.

Suzuki didn't respond right away his blue eyes flicked toward the officer, dull and unreadable, then back toward the TV screen which now showed stock footage of Captain Marvel soaring above Tokyo Tower.

With a reluctant grunt he pushed himself off the chair and slung his worn backpack over his shoulder.

"Right well when do we leave?" Suzuki asked flatly.

"Tonight. Train's in two hours Fujimura-san's expecting you by morning," the officer replied, handing him a slip of paper with details "she's a bit... energetic but means good so you might want to brace yourself."

Great, Suzuki thought bitterly another stranger and another temporary home.

As they walked out of the station the city lights blurred through the windows of the patrol car.

Suzuki leaned his forehead against the cold glass and closed his eyes.

In his mind he can still hear the sounds of thunder in the sky.

Still smelled the smoke from the destruction of the various buildings.

Still felt the hard crunch that Adam's neck let out as he snapped it crossing the one line he never wanted to cross.

Never Again.

-end of prologue-

Just an idea that I had where an OC received the powers of Shazam but in the Nasuverse and some minor changes.

The MC started his carrier as Captain Marvel when he was 8 years old, he quit at 10 once he had no choice but to kill this variant of Black Adam.

He's a fourteen-year-old almost fifteen in a couple of weeks and soon to start his First year of high school after finishing Middle School.

Which puts him in the same grade range as Sakura while Shirou and Rin are 16 which makes them Second years.

Much like Billy Batson the MC has been on the run from various Foster Homes and Orphanages until now that is.

I also watched the new superman movie by James Gunn so that was another inspiration for the creation of this fanfic along with the intro episode for Batman Beyond.
