Days went by in a blur, it was a day to the masked ball, Lana soon regained her strength and resumed her work by Kairos side. The servants in the palace knew better than to mess with her, some avoided her completely while others where polite like the chef and two girls that cleaned her room and attended to her sometimes
Diane and Aubrey, they became her two closest friends in the palace and the reason she hasn't lost her marbles in the hands of that king, she also tried making small talk with the carriage man so she could earn his trust enough to help her run away from the palace
Kairos had sent out a royal decree, stripping the Marquis of his title for embezzling money with evidence and also breaking his engagement to lady Margaret for her crime of treason, he said he was letting her off easy because she was his bride
Lana was satisfied with the punishment, little did she know that Kairos only did that so she would stop trying to running away from him.
Today was the day, Lana looked out the window of the carriage, she managed to convince Kairos that she needed a dress for the ball and she wanted to go to the tailor herself to pick, and for the past few weeks she's been quiet about leaving so he wouldn't suspect that she was going to run away.
She didn't have a solid plan on how to get to her world but she planned to ask around and find a way, even if she didn't escape today she would have information on how to
The streets were bustling, carriage was supposed to take her to mint street, a place where the high class shopped, it was exclusive to only those of high status not because it was restricted from people of low status but they couldn't just afford anything there so they didn't bother going.
But Lana wasn't planning to reach mint street, looking at the busy market this place was the best place to get the information she needed.
Knocking on the the window "chase I'll stop here please" she said
The carriage came to a halt, coming down from it she walked to where he was sitted, offering him a smile "I just need to get something, I'll be back"
The carriage man nodded, seeing that Lana walked away, the market was really busy probably because of the masked ball Lana thought, since it was the only ball but commoners and nobles could mingle, with the mask nobody is seeing anybody's face so it would be hard to tell
Looking around a lot of things we're being sold, from knock off dresses that looked like ball gowns but would easily wear off, to shoes that looked like they couldn't last a night but people bought them regardless
"Is there anything you'd like" a seller asked as she passed by
"I sell jewelries...why don't you come take a look"
"A gown and a mask for the ball, it'll make you so enchanting you might even attract the king"
The last statement almost made Lana laugh, she couldn't believe people bought that, thinking of Kairos brooding aura she wanted to laugh even more, wiping out the tears from holding her laughter, she looked around
There was a begger in a secluded place in the market, one thing she knew is that beggers know a lot, since they wonder around looking for what to eat they hear information, they could even know the kingdom at the back of their hand
Walking into the dark alley, she took some coins from her pouch dropping it into the beggers bowl, hearing the sound of coins falling the begger raised his head to see who the generous person could be
"T.. thank you soo much my lady" the old begger said in a raspy voice "I...is there anything I could do for you"
Lana's heartached, she wanted to give the begger all she had but she still needed a cover up in case she didn't leave today "I have a question will you be willing to answer" Lana asked
The begger nodded vigorously "anything I'll answer any question miss"
"Thank you" Lana said smiling
"Do you know of any practioner of magic around" she asked
The begger hesitated "my lady, sorcerers and mages are all in the mage tower" he said
Lana narrowed her eyes at him, she knew he was hiding something "do you know how to leave this world"
The begger paused, shaking his head "N...no I have no idea what you're talking about about"
He knew something Lana was sure of it "please tell me, I...I'll give you more money" Lana pleaded desperately
"I'm sorry my lady but I can't tell you anything"
Lana was about to beg more when a group of men surrounded her
"Well...well who do we have here"
Lana startled turned around, seeing the opportunity to flee the begger carried his little bowl and ran away, seeing the begger runaway Lana sighed she just lost valuable information
There were 7 men surrounding her, viciously scanning her from head to toe
"W...what do you want" Lana said backing off looking for a chance to runaway
One of them,who looked like the leader spoke "ohh we want money, and the money for your life was a huge one"
Lana was shaken, who would have wanted her dead, she doesn't even know anyone outside the palace talk less of making an enemy
The leader walked towards her, raising her chin forcefully, he chuckled showing his brown rusty teeth "such a pretty lady, I wonder how you made such a viscious enemy, don't worry your beauty won't waste I will have my full of you before taking your life"
Lana scrunched her face disgusted "let go of me" she said kicking the man between his legs
The impact left both he and his men shocked, with the little chance she bolted running into the busy market
Groaning in pain the man yelled "get her you morons"
And so the chase began.
