In his mind, Kayden was already grinning. I'm shipping them already.
Ariz smirked after they left, calling out just loud enough for Darren to hear, "Stubborn. You're making me want you."
Darren didn't turn back, but his ears twitched at the words.
Once they had walked far enough from the parking lot, Kayden nudged Darren with his elbow. "You know… You and Ariz look good together."
Darren gave him a sharp side-eye. "Don't start."
Kayden kept going, unbothered. "I don't even know why you're mad at him. Ariz is a nice guy, kind, even. He helped you when your car broke down, didn't he? And today, he drove us to campus. That's pretty great if you ask me. Come on, Darren… soften up a little."
He grinned mischievously. "Just make simple, casual friends. That's all. Or, you could be…"
Darren stopped walking and shot him a sharp glare that could cut glass. "Finish that sentence, Kayden, and you won't like yourself."
