Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Forge

The miner drones drill whirred as they tore away at the earth seeking ores. It had been constantly going at it for 2 days, managing to collect a sizeable amount of useable ore. Horizon stood at the rudimentary forge, which had been created by the assembly drone. A few more had been constructed to process the excess amount of ore, he had underestimated the density of the ore deposit here, but he didn't complain.

After days of processing and smelting, he had finally garnered enough materials to move on to the next step. He stood next to a giant pile of well-organized iron blocks. He placed his hand on the giant pile, and the metal began shifting. First, it began melting, forming a pool of silver on the ground below, and red lines of energy spread out over the surface.

Horizon red eyes glimmered.

The metal instantly responded, it began rising, with mechanical grandeur as it multiple drone skeletons took shape, the silver liquid flowing and filling the crevices. Horizon nodded as the process was finished, in front of him a small legion of 20 miner drones and 15 assembly drones. Together with the newest addition to his arsenal. 5 sentinel drones.

Each stood at eight feet tall. Their armored exoskeleton was dark, etched with faintly glowing crimson circuit veins. Their limbs were sleek but heavily reinforced, hydraulic pistons at the joints reinforcing their power.

Their heads were angular in shape almost helmet-like. Two slit ran across their face diagonally and vertically, glowing the same eerie red. But what was truly impressive was their armament. Two twin rotary blasters where fitted on their wrists, barrels primed and ready for action. On their shoulders micro-missle pods were fitted, armed with a large array of different types of explosives. On their back a heavy mounted canon blaster that folded over their shoulder when deployed.\

For defensive purposes they were equipped with a cloaking mechanism that made them invisible from most forms of detection.

Horizon hummed in satisfaction. This was an adequate starting force, his first power up on this planet. But he wasn't satisfied as of now everyone of these machines was using energy from his own personal supply it was time he fixed this issue, and mana was going to help.

He turned towards, the miner drones instructing them to begin extracting ores at a rapid pace. He turned to the assembly drones next.

"Begin operation forge," He uttered.

The drones whirred to life, rising into the air, circling the perimeter, scouting. Since he had now a good amount of machinery, Horizon saw it best to make his first headquarters, outfitted with everything he might need. He termed this operation forge. His eyes glinted as he saw the drones whirring into action clearing space, and already planning to lay foundation. Everything is running smoothly, he thought.

...

Elsewhere in the forest two creatures lumbered throught. They were humanoid in appearance, but much larger than normal humans as well as being extremely muscular. Another crucial note was that their skin was dyed a deep green. Black unkempt hair on their large heads. From their lower lips two tusks sprouted up. If Horizon were here he would have recognized these creatures as orcs from the memories of the adventurers.

They barely wore any sort of clothes. Just a loin cloth that covered their privates. On their back a large bone axes were strapped. They seem to be coming from a massive hunt, carrying with them a carcas of a dead boar.

The two hulking orcs walked through the dense undergrowth, their massive frames parting the foliage with ease. The boar carcass was strewn between them on a wooden pole, blood dripped onto the ground. Flies buzzed around but they didn't pay them any mind.

As they neared the outskirts of their village, the sound of laughter, crackling fires and the clanging of crude metalwork filled the air. The scent of meat, smoke and unwashed bodies lingered in the air. The village walls loomed ahead, jagged logs lashed together rope. Spike adorned the top, with the skulls of fallen enemies decorating the wall.

A guard was stationed at the gate. He stared at the approaching figures letting out a nod, before opening the gate letting the two figures in.

The gate creaked open, and the two hunters stepped into the chaos of the orcish village. Mud huts made of hides and bone dotted the clearing, while warriors sharpened weapons, children wrestled in the dirt, and shamans muttered over crackling flames. A few orcs glanced up from their tasks, nostrils flaring at the scent of fresh meat. One particularly scarred brute, his face marked with ritualistic cuts, let out an approving snarl and clapped one of the hunters on the back hard enough to stagger a lesser creature.

Suddenly another orc approached the two other orcs, on his face a large scar. He carried on his back a large broadsword, it was clear he was an orc warrior.

"The cheiftain is summoning all warriors.."

The two orcs stared at each other this must be really important if all the warriors were being summoned.
