Chapter 5 - Five

Jessica

I find myself on the other side of the road, specifically on another roof. My fists are on the concrete and I look around in utter shock wondering why the fuck I did that in the first place. I wanted to get away from that hot, crazy guy, but you'd think there'd be another way to escape him, maybe I don't know, by not jumping off a roof.

But I wasn't thinking, I just moved my body, and I landed on top of the next building.

"Holy shit," I mutter to myself, I should be dead by now, on the ground with a broken skull, but I'm not. Whatever is happening to me, I believe it's because of that guy across the road. And when I look back, he's still there, staring at me.

"Jessica please come on let's talk." but he's not in my mind. He said those words with his mouth and I heard him, I heard him from far away and it felt like he was close by. What kind of sorcery is this? That guy is crazy.

If I can jump from roof to roof without falling then let me get to it. I make a run for it and I hear him running after me. I jump over the roof and land on the next one. I'm surprised at how fast and flexible I'm being. It's crazy because I was never this acrobatic. Whatever has happened to me that man is responsible for it.

He brought me back to life. How? Did he inject some kind of drug into my system? Is that what this is all about? So, how do you explain the mind thing? Can science back up the fact that a drug can make someone hear people's thoughts or dive into people's heads?

You know what, I don't know and I don't care all I want to do right now is run for my life.

I'm jumping from roof to roof and honestly I'm enjoying it. I love this feeling, I've never felt this way before. So free, so liberated. I feel like a brand new person.

"Whooo!" I yell like a child on a roller-coaster ride as I make another jump. I have completely forgotten the reason why I even started jumping from building to building in the first place. But now I remember, during all that fun, I was running from the crazy guy who said he brought me back to life.

A white girl would fall for his trick because he's hot, but I, no, no. I stop my jumping and I turn around to see if he's still chasing me, but he's not, he's nowhere to be seen. It's either that I lost him or that he gave up.

But why do I feel bad? I was the one who decided to run away from him, so why am I feeling bad? He gives serial killer vibes. I don't care if he's hot.

But he was though damn, where did he come from?

Anyways, he's gon,e and I hope I don't see him again. That encounter was so strange.

I hear laughter, and I hear it coming from below. I look down and I see people getting into a club. But it's not the people that catch my eye, it's the shadowy figures that are following these people into the club.

It's funny because I'm not looking at these shadow people with my bare eyes, I think I'm using another sight to see these people.

I bring out my phone to check. I open up the camera, it's on selfie mode. I expect to see my eyes the normal emerald green it is but it's not just emerald green my eyes are glowing like a cat's eyes in the dark.

"Fuck." I mutter in awe at what I'm seeing.

So that's what those are for.

These creatures look so scary, but why do I have an urge to come down there and protect these people? I'm a black woman who has been taught her whole life to run away from danger so why the fuck am I drawn to it?

I'm hesitant, but I know I am going to get into that club to see what the fuck is going on. I choose to follow the shadows, but first I look down to see how high the building is. I don't even car,e I just jump down and I land successfully on my floor. No broken bones, nothing. It was like jumping from the bed in my room to the floor.

"Who," I say, dusting myself up and then I move across the street with the youngsters into the building. They're here to have fun, but I'm not.

I'm about to get in, but the bouncer stops me.

"ID," he says, a tall, bald, buff black man who thinks he's intimidating, but he's not, at least not to me.

"I forgot my ID at home, but I'm twenty-two, I promise," I say to him with a smile on my face. I give him the brightest and cutest smile ever, but he doesn't want to hear it.

"Oh, come on," I whine.

"No ID, no entry, sorry ma'am."

Ma'am? What the hell.

Okay, now I'm pissed and I feel old.

That's when I move closer to him, which is unlike me because I'm not the kind of person to even look people in the eye.

But here I am moving closer, willing this bouncer to look at me.

"Personal space, ma'am."

"You will let me in, you are going to let me in without looking at any ID and you're done looking at IDs for the night. You can let anyone in."

"I can let anyone in." He says, agreeing with me, and I smile.

"Good, I'm glad we're on the same page." I pat him on the shoulder and walk into the club. Then I hear him telling people who are waiting in line to go in. Everyone shouts in jubilation.

The music is loud, the beat has possessed me. I feel like going feral, I feel like dancing and dancing and just being taken away by the music.

The feeling of music fills me with so much ecstasy. I want to move my body and lose myself. But then I have to remember I'm on a mission.

But first, I'm super thirsty after all that running and jumping. I need a drink, so I head to the bar.

I sit.

"One glass of milk, please", I say to the bartender, and he's taken aback, and the people around me are too. "What? Y'all have never had a glass of milk before? It's more nutritious than the alcohol you drink."

The bartender shrugs. "One glass of milk coming from up." he walks away and I wait but I keep my eyes on the prize.

Turns out my eyes are powerful now. I can see things especially from a far distance. I look for those people with an extremely dark aura. What are they here to do? Start a mass shooting, stab someone sell drugs? They're up to no good. That's what I know.

"Here's your milk, ma'am." The bartender says to me, and I look to see my milk in a glass with ice in it. It looks so yummy.

"Thanks, pretty boy." I wink at him and he is pretty, the blue eyes alone makes him look so damn otherworldly. The guy blushes and then walks away to attend to other customers. It's obvious he doesn't want to walk away from me, but he has to because he's at work.

Aww, he's so cute.

I drink from my delicious milk as I look around to catch those demonic creatures in the act. The club is filled with people dancing. I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

Oh, wait, maybe it's because my normal eyes are on. I have to bring out my other eye. So I close my eyes, willing my emerald green eyes to come.

Sorry I forced you to leave before. But I need you now. I tell my emerald green eyes.

And when I open my eyes I see a lot of shadows, there's evil everywhere but there's one that catches my eye.

A boy holding a girls hand, he's taking her out back and he looks like he has bad intentions. His aura is so dark that it scares me. I'm scared for the girl. She looks so happy and clueless, all she knows is that she's going to be having some fun with a cute guy. I have to go save her.

So I drink the milk in one gulp. Place a tip on the table, and I rise to my fee,t then I run away.

"Thank you!" I hear the bartender say, but I don't look his way, I just know I have to get to that girl before any harm befalls her.

I walk past a bunch of dancing girls who hype me up and want to dance with me. I turn them down gently, and I walk past them. Maybe some other time, but right now I have to get to the girl.

Wow, I never thought I'd want to come back here to dance with a bunch of strangers. Who have I become?

I'm out the door, and the music has become distant. I look from left to right to see where they could have gone, and then I see them. They're close to a dumpster, and I hear struggling and groaning.

What the hell is he doing to her? Now I'm pissed and I'm headed to their direction.

"Hey buddy! Get your hands… off…her." I pause as I watch in horror.

The girl isn't the one in danger; the guy is the one who I should be saving.

I watch as the cute guy falls to the ground blood all over his neck and then I turn to the girl. She has sharp fangs and blood all over her mouth.

"Why hello there," she says in a Russian accent with a smirk on her face. "Now, you smell so bloody divine."
