Chapter 15 - I Met The What???

Another realm that is just blinding white. Superb. Why am I saying superb? That's such a weird word to say. [I need to find who called me here. I have questions for them. That's what you were going to say next, weren't you?] I turn to see a man dressed in all white. His hair was just as white as his clothes. He had eyes that matched mine, which was a sight to say the least.

How did he know what I was going to say? [I knew what you were going to say because I know, everything. Hello Damon, it's nice to finally meet you.] "If you know everything already, why don't you just answer my questions?" [Because it will only cause you to ask even more questions. Now, ask your questions.] "Well, who are you?" [I don't really have a name. I moreso have a title. I am known as The Narrator.] "The Narrator? As in the special voice that reads a story?" [Correct. That is I.]

That's definitely some information. "Next question. If you are The Narrator, does that mean I'm in a story?" [You are quick to catch on. That's why you've been my favorite character. Yes, you are a character in a story.] "I feel like I should be upset to learn this, but I just don't care." [That sounds just in character for you.] "I was written to be a nerd and do nothing with that? What kind of writer does that." [The one who doesn't want your character to shine through.]

"You said I'm a character in a story. Does that mean you know the author?" [I know them. They are a part of the reason I've called you here.] "That's funny, I was just about to ask you why you called me here." [Allow me to answer you then. The reason I called you here is because the author keeps revising the story. They have changed the plot several times already. The only thing that stays the same is you. A side character to be overpowered and die for the plot to make the main character overcome their struggles.]

"I'm a constant? You also said I was an overpowered side character, but so far everyone I've met is so much stronger than me." [I suppose that's true. I'm to blame for that. I changed the plot of the story to make it to where you couldn't be used as a plot device. I didn't want to watch my favorite character die anymore.] "It must be a big bummer then to have seen me die there then." [It was, but at the same time it wasn't. This experience has been a breath of fresh air.]

"What is that supposed to mean exactly?" [I changed the plot against what the author wanted, but you changed the plot on me as well. It's like you are writing your own story now.] I changed the plot? How could I change the plot? I don't have the power to do that. [I don't know how you are changing the plot either. Something must have changed with your character that I wasn't aware of.] "All I know is that I have an immeasurable amount of Mana, which is just a fancy way of saying that it's beyond the realm of numbers. But I can only use 2.5% of it."

[You were able to activate your Mana?! That's amazing. No wonder the story is different now. In the past iterations of yourself, you never awakened your Mana. It must have happened when the author came to question me about the story change.] "I don't feel like I'm supposed to be an overpowered side character right now. I'm somehow weaker than I was before without Mana."

[That is true. You used to have insane physical stats though. I guess you got balanced when I changed the story.] "That's, saddening. I could've been OP you bastard." [You can still be overpowered. Since I was able to take over your system, I can place you back into the world. The only problem is that your body suffered far too severe injuries for me to put you back there.] "Why would you place me back in the world to begin with?" [It's simple. I want you to change the story that the author made. Make it your own. Whatever you've been doing, keep doing it.]

"So helpful. I don't really have the sharpest arsenal of skills and spells. My stats are decent for where the story is right now, but not insanely high." [Do you want better skills and spells?] "I obviously do." [Then work for them. I've read too much of your character to know that you would rather work hard for your gain than have me just give it to you.] "It's really weird having someone know me just as well as I know myself. Now, where can you send me?"

[The only place I could safely send your soul is not a pleasant place. There is a complete lack of order there. People constantly fight and kill each other.] "Detroit?" [No, not Detroit. It is the 25th Circle of Hell.] "Why exactly would you send my soul to hell if there is no order there and I could just die again?" [Simple. The Demon King Trials will be starting soon. If you can win that, you earn the right to go back to the Mortal Realm.] "Well... my friends always said I'd be the one to go to hell."

"I have one more question though. Why did you say that the realm of knowledge was dangerous?" [That's right, I did say that. He is a being known as the editor. He completely controls the systems of people, but he also planned on killing you himself. You activating [Bringer of Chaos] must have made him change his mind. He's always interested in what will bring the best plot. I despise him.] "Well don't worry. I'll make sure that I kill him and the author. That would be a pretty good story to narrate, wouldn't it?" [That would be quite a fun story to narrate. Shall we begin?] "Then let's turn this story into something worth telling."
