I knew a twist was coming. Life couldn't be simple for one day, could it? I was back in the realm too. [My goodness. I tried to call you here as fast as I could, but it only worked after she knocked you unconscious.] "Well, that's inconvenient to say the least. What's happening back there? How long was I out?"
[You were out for around an hour. And for what's happening... just look for yourself.] The system screen popped up with a live feed of the events happening. The capital. It was all on fire. Buildings wiped completely away. The people screaming and crying. "Who could've done this?" [Exactly who you think it is. Alice caused it all.]
"She couldn't have. Sure, she stabbed me and knocked me out, but she's kind-hearted and caring. She goes around the capital helping whoever needs it. She couldn't be responsible. She can't be. Something is wrong. This isn't Alice." [Did you even know Alice that well? You're defending the person who stabbed you in the stomach. Just keep watching the feed.]
I couldn't let myself believe what he was saying. Alice couldn't do that. But she lied about being a God Candidate. How hard would it be to pretend to be nice? No. I won't let myself believe him. I turn my head back to the feed. Alice was standing in the middle of all the flames and wreckage. Her body looked like it was covered in a galaxy. Her status window. It said she was an Ace and a Berserker Blader.
"Is that her Berserker Blade?" [That is. It's made of dense Super Space. She can mold it in whatever way she wants.] "Super Space? What do you mean by Super Space?" [That is unimportant right now. You are not at the point in which this is relevant.] "You sure like hiding information from me for someone who claims to be on my side." [When did I ever say that?]
An explosion went off. I turned back to the screen. Merlin and Lancelot were there now. "What are they doing? Are they about to fight her?" [It looks like it. Sit back and relax. This will be a good fight.] I didn't want to sit back. I wanted to talk to Alice to see what was wrong. This wasn't her. I could feel it.
"Why must you destroy everything? These were innocent people that you've killed. You took away their homes. Their lives. We can not forgive you for harming our people. Merlin, use the spell." Merlin looked concerned. "Are you sure Lance? If I cast it, the only way out is if someone dies." Lancelot nodded. "That's the point." Merlin cast a large box around Lancelot and Alice.
"Cage of Battle. A spell Merlin made for a situation like this. It locks 2 people in it to fight to the death. It only stops when one of us dies. You will get what you deserve." Lancelot's body started glowing a bright yellow. His eye color became the same color as his glow. It enveloped his sword as well. I could feel the raw power from being in a different realm.
"Is this his true strength?" [It is. Aces are not allowed to use their full power unless it is against another Ace or a being of Divinity. Now he has a target to use his full power on.]
"I didn't want to do this Lancelot. They have my sister. I can't lose her; she's my only family left. If I have to kill you to keep her safe, then I will." Alice's body got completely covered by Super Space to make armour out of it. She made a blade out of it as well. "They are really going all out, huh?" [They are. Lancelot most likely would have held back if it wasn't for the spell Merlin cast. After all, he wouldn't want to bring further damage to his kingdom.]
I could see them readying their blades for combat. I need to stop this. I can't let them kill each other. [∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎∎] What was that? There's a message, but it's blocked out. [Can ∎∎∎ se∎ th∎∎∎] It's decoding itself? [Can you see this?] I can see it. [You are not safe there; leave immediately.] What is this message? Explain yourself. [Just leave as fast as possible. I don't have time to explain.]
The sound of the clash of two blades brought me back from the daze of those messages. They were relentlessly fighting. Neither side looked like they would actually give up. Lancelot was trying to pressure Alice into a corner, but she was able to counter him and push him away. [This fight is wonderful. Are you enjoying it Damon?]
They are really trying to kill each other. They've known each other for weeks, and now here they are. Determined to kill the other. I can't let it keep going. "I'm leaving." [What do you mean you're leaving? You do not have the power required to leave this realm.] "Then you will be moving me out." [You really are going to threaten a Deity like myself?] [Bringer of Chaos Level 1 Activated]
I felt an energy pour out of my eye. It wouldn't stop flowing out. It was incredibly dense. Much deeper than my own Mana. It started to form an object above my head. "You're letting me out. Don't make me ask again." [Astounding. You activated such a high-ranking skill with such ease. I'll let you leave. Don't do anything dumb.]
I woke up in the tavern where I was before. The once lively tavern was now covered in ale, blood, and bodies. I looked into a puddle of ale to see my purple eye glowing. The object that was formed on my head was in the shape of a small halo. I couldn't be bothered by that. I rushed out to find Merlin. I could hear their clashes from the tavern, so it wasn't very hard. [What do you think you are doing?] Stopping a fight so leave me alone.
The messages stopped then. I made it to Merlin. "Merlin!" She looked surprised to see me. "Damon, you're alive? What is that on your head?"
"That doesn't matter right now. I need to stop them." She looked at me with complete shock in both her voice and face. "But how would you do that? They are two Aces fighting. It would be impossible for someone like you to actually stop them." She's right. I hate it that she's right. I'm not strong enough at all. I feel like if I got in that box, I'd die from just the pressure of their Mana.
I couldn't let myself be deterred. [Tempest Armour Level 1, Mana Armour Level 5 Activated] I started punching the barrier. "What are you doing? That won't be enough to break through this barrier. They can't get out unless one of them dies." I'm going to keep trying. "You said they can't get out unless someone dies. You never said anything about someone getting in." I felt the energy from my eye start flowing out again, covering my hands in a purple energy.
"That's insane! You wouldn't do that just for a girl, would you?" I push my hand through the barrier. "This isn't just about a girl. This isn't Alice at all. She's fighting to keep her sister safe. I need to stop them before they do something they regret." I push my other hand into the barrier. I use all the strength I can muster to force an opening for me to go to.
"It looks like you lost Alice. For the safety of my kingdom, I must execute you here and now." Lancelot raised his sword. Alice looked down with sadness across her face. "I'm sorry, Audrey. I couldn't keep you safe like I promised." [All Skills Activated] I dashed with all the force and speed I could muster. I didn't have enough time to draw my sword before he would strike her.
If I can't block his strike with my sword, I'll use my body to block it. He swung his sword downwards, slicing my chest open. [Too much damage received. All Skills deactivated.] "You fool! Why would you protect her after she caused so much damage and chaos?" The passive spells weren't healing me fast enough. I couldn't stop myself from coughing, the blood flowing out of my mouth as well. "She was just protecting her sister. Just as you are fighting to protect your kingdom."
[Many Deities are laughing at you for doing such a dumb thing.] [The Hammer of Lightning and Thunder silences the other Deities, calling your actbrave.] [The Deities of Norn wish you a good trip to Valhalla for your courageous sacrifice.] When did the livestream start? I guess it doesn't matter. "You gain nothing from this Damon. So why would you sacrifice yourself for this traitor?"
"You call her a traitor. I call her a loving sister. She's more than just a loving sister. She's a kind-hearted person who went around your kingdom helping the people in need. Besides, I have... people I want to protect too. Please. Save my friends, Lance. And please... all of you. Live on for me..." I felt the last breath I had leave my lungs. You really do see a light when you die, huh? "Damon! Don't die. Please don't die. Merlin! Do something, please!"
"I can't do anything until someone dies. I guess Damon knew that and sacrificed himself so you both could live." [The Deities of Norn mourn your passing.] [The Great Sage Equal to the Heavens is saddened by your death.] [The One with a Soul of Chaos calls you a fool for doing something so stupid.]
