Chapter 22 - Reveal

"Crack"

All at once, the Ignis barrier appeared to have many fractures. Velmir turned upward to look at it, but something was odd. His words felt like they were held back by something.

Even breathing was a challenge for him. He stared at Lucas with many questions in his mind, yet before he could notice anything, he saw... blood. From the edge of Lucas's eyes, blood trickled out like tears, as if something was intimidating him.

Velmir froze, but Lucas did not give him time as he quickly whispered to Velmir, "Sins... and virtues, threads and scripts... are the keys..." - "Crack!"

In the blink of an eye, the barrier broke completely, leaving many fragments dropping down and disappearing one by one. On their shoulders, an invisible weight pressed down onto them, and gravity struck them heavily. Velmir clenched his shoulder hard, tightening it as the Ignis Lucas summoned barely held him.

On the other hand, Lucas collapsed on one knee, hand trembling as he raised his open palm in defiance. In an immediate motion, "Swiz" - his hand twisted, blood spilled out, and the sound of breaking bones echoed in the night.

Then,

It ended.

No sign, no whisper, only in silence. Leaving the two devastated on the stone path. Yet, Lucas did not cry out, but instead he only looked at Velmir with a kind smile that was still stained with blood.

It was a smile of joy and a smile of... pleasing. Velmir was dazzled, but in a hurried attempt, he rushed to his friend, reaching out a hand.

It wasn't honorable,

it wasn't heroic,

but it was... caring.

Lucas shook his eyebrows once and stood still, but after a few seconds, he didn't hesitate to accept it. And yep, they both fall, and this fall... was a one that came with a busted grin. Under the sky of stars, their voices danced with the lights and rippled through the town on the flow of winds.

...

...

...

The silence had returned. Velmir had returned to his inn, and Lucas was gone, but it wasn't peaceful anymore. Velmir leaned against his bed. Everything hadn't stopped, the pressure. It was still there.

And even when the pain had passed, it echoed. His heart weighed, and his soul appeared to be "clenched."

"sins and virtues... threads and scripts?"

Velmir muttered the words many times, clinging on to it before something mysterious could happen and possibly wipe away his memory.

After all, it was something beyond his knowledge, something that Lucas had to tell him, even at the cost of his blood.

Then, it struck him.

"Chain scripts!" - The one word that Leiny mentioned popped up into his mind, strengthening the fact that this could be the key for him.

Instantly, Velmir stood up, hands sifted through books, seeking ones related to mythweavers from the many he brought to his rented apartment.

After minutes, he stopped and came back to his bed with five books in his hand, "This should be enough to find something useful." - Velmir whispered cautiously as he unsealed the first book.

Then-

Words floated out in front of him, glowing like ancient runes as though they had awaited his presence. It was the exact same occurrence in the library. Still, this time he was fully awake. Velmir spontaneously retreated, froze to look at them.

"...What is this?" - A thought flashed, and in no time, the diary appeared out of nowhere, leaving some faint golden sparks hovering in the air. Because it was unexpected, he could only sit there looking at it without any idea.

However, moments later, Lucas's words resurfaced, "Diary is my guidance?" - Velmir uttered with his fingers meeting the pages. In his mind, there was only one goal: "I need to know about my status". In a split second, lines began to reveal themselves.

[Echelon: Half Chain 7]

[Synthesize: 70%]

[Ability: Perception | Linguistic Mastery]

[Potential/ Physics: Tier 5/ Ignorance- Bad]

Vellmir pulled his hand back for a second, unwilling to believe what he figured out. "M- My will can influence the diary?" Yet, it was only a theory; therefore, Velmir once again thought in his mind. "Potential, physics."

In a matter of seconds, another page turned, and this time, it revealed another thing.

[Potential/ Physics]

[Tier 5: Ignorance - Bad]

[Tier 4: Mundance< three ordinary elements> - Standard]

[Tier 3: No info]

[Tier 2: No info]

[Tier 1: No info]

[Tier 0: ? - Existed]

Hand clenched in excitement, Velmir spoke aloud, "It works!" - Nevertheless, he soon commanded the diary to enlarge his knowledge in elation, "How to get information?"

Page flipped one after another, painting,

[Books, Scrolls, Bibles]

Velmir read them clearly, but the moment his gaze ended, something occurred. A soft pain, more like an electric wave, trickled in his brain. "... Scrolls... ancient objects from an... alchemist?

Halting, his hand slowly rose to his lips as he scoured his memory... Velmir just said something he didn't know in the first place. "Where did this come from?" - Suddenly, it dawned on him.

"Linguistic Mastery. Perception"

The memory then flowed back to that moment, the time he was in the library. He realized. The lines he had seen, and the current ones floating, were the same. Consequently, he marked a theory."I learned those... when I was about to lose my... mind?"

At that moment, his brain tensed up. The shock waves flowed more frequently. Velmir was also gradually losing his vision. It wasn't about the knowledge anymore; it was about his ability. How did he get it? Why did he awaken as a mythweaver? Why was he called a "Seeker"? The question slowly consumed Velmir.

Yet, all of them were tied to one thing.

"Above the stars!"
