Chapter 23 - Fooled

"I've... come back here?"

The world above the stars reconstituted, mist concealed Velmir's vision before slowly fading away, illuminating the scenery. Velmir simply stood there. He had no idea how he got here; it all happened when he thought about it... However, something hit hard-

"My... desire?" - Words appeared in his mind, and the moment it started, the realm reverberated, as though it was his will that dictated this world. Yet, he stood there clenching his left hand, waiting for the mist to disclose everything.

Then,

It all submitted.

The child was still there, some cracks on the crystal moon grew bigger, but... out of all of that, one thing that pulled his gaze was the two human radiant figures. Velmir took a step forward; it was all his instinct. Then, another. Closer and closer. His eyes fixed, unblinking

Moments later, he stood firm, facing those luminous silhouettes at a close distance. Hands raised, Velmir touched them. All of a sudden, his vision blurred, light shrouded him, and... memories began to flow in.

Shards floated in his internal thoughts, like fragments once scattered and sealed away.

On his first day in this world, he fought a werewolf.

On the next day, Lucas saved him.

One by one, they returned.

However, Velmir wasn't right. As the memory flowed back like a rolling film, he began to question, "... I killed a werewolf?... When was it?"

It was a question out of confusion, and soon he acted strange again, "... I... couldn't remember my childhood?"

Yet, the last question nailed as he went through his memory, "... This is what... started? But I thought..." - Velmir paused, couldn't think anymore about it, but then he started trembling in fear,

"Something manipulated my memories!" - His words rang out, echoing through the realm, even rippling the water surface that was never shaken. Velmir roughly pressed his head, and slowly, every bit of memory he lost recovered in his mind.

"I didn't wake up here! I was transmigrated!"

Without hesitation, he thought of the diary for a second, making it appear, bringing a quill together with it to his command. Swiftly, pages turned, and he took the quill, writing nonstop as his sweat dripped down from his temple.

"I am the past 'you', something is twisting my memory. So please don't be dragged too much into this world, become stronger, and you will find out about this," - In his efforts, he desperately wrote in fear as his hand shook uncontrollably.

However, he suddenly stopped. It wasn't because he didn't know what to add, but rather because... his "names".

Velmir clutched his aching head with one hand, stumbling downward as his other hand barely stopped him from collapsing. "What am I?" - Was he Velmir, or was he Seo Wero?

He didn't know, but he soon realized... None of his identity had its full memory. "...I can't remember my student life..." - Velmir struggled internally, trying to find a proper answer for himself.

Nevertheless, nothing popped up to him, only an empty mind left nothing but a hollow static. At that point, he turned his gaze upward, looking at the two light figures, and soon recognized...

"... Seo Wero... Velmir?"

He spoke on the edge of consciousness with his vision slowly becoming the colors red and yellow that once twisted his memory when he experienced being "Seo Wero." Yet, before it could completely devour his mind, a light on the sky. Pulsed. Faint. Striking.

"Bang!" - It couldn't be seen through eyes, but something struck him, clearing the twisted color for him. However, it had also pierced through his heart, ending his time staying in this realm. Still, before he was kicked out of this world, he saw a part of it.

Something... like a spear with golden circles.

...

...

...

[The next morning]

An immediate awoke, Velmir gasped in fear, only to find out that he was in his rented apartment, and nothing was a threat here. However, this time, he remembered everything instead of losing his memory or awareness of that realm like always.

He couldn't believe it as he checked his palm carefully, and it was no different from any other day. Then, it was the diary's turn. Words were still there; it was what he wrote. Velmir panicked. Just a moment ago, he thought it was a dream.

Having acknowledged this truth, Velmir's skin went pale, he gently closed the diary, and walked to the mirror.

And yes, it was that fractured face. splitting into pieces of fragments that couldn't be seen through his vision. Not a feature, not an expression, only a face of nothing.

When he lost his memories, he didn't see it, but rather ignored it. "It all makes sense now..." - Velmir laughed loudly. Wasn't of joy but of his stupidity, his foolish mind.

Everything told was just a lie; this was what he had to face as "Seo Wero" and "Velmir." A painful reality that was disoriented from its original.

Moments passed, even though the pain that came back to him lingered, Velmir took a bath and put on his clothes, ready for his new day.

Velmir walked his way through the crowd. Each step was a cloud that fooled his heart, yet something happened...

"Find me... Orion." - A whisper of a girl passed by, it was sudden and unexpected, but his heart beat. Not slow, not normal, it was racing. With his perception power, he could sense it.

Heart raced, veins burned, and cells flared. All at once, his body reacted to that voice as though it were mourning, painfully telling him to act immediately. Dazzled by the instant resonance, Velmir laid a hand on his chest and swiftly spun around, activating his ability, searching for a trace of the girl.

But... he couldn't.

"Ring! Ring! Ring!" - The bell rang, marking that the class would begin soon, leaving Velmir flustered. Velmir hesitated; he didn't go for the girl. Even though Velmir knew it could've been a fellow friend of his, he left in a hurry, as the class might hold answers. But that voice... echoed, haunted him.

[In a corner of the street] - "...Orion... Save me..."
