Chapter 1 - Pilot: That one time i died.

Evan Asteria, a character from the unpopular fantasy game Honored Knight Unveiled once again had died. Stabbed to death by Talon Asteria, the main character and little brother of Evan. Eddie, 22 years old lived as a NEET with his mother, slouched backwards into his gaming chair as he took a sip of water staring at the death screen.

'I can't believe I made it to the late game with Evan! With this amount of progress, I should be able to make it to the final encounter if I get lucky.'

Evan Asteria was an early game "playable" npc villain with the sole mission of becoming the heir to their family's kingdom. The idea of being the main character's villain sounds good on paper, except when you are able to die to almost everything in the game.

Evan had no mana, no combat experience nor training, and was also considered an asshole by everyone meaning he had no connections. Even worse was Evan had a trait which was rare for any character, yet it only screwed him over. Evan had the trait "Destined Death".

'Why even make him playable if you can't even make it to the end of the game because of that perk?'

These thoughts flowed through Eddie's head as a loud growl exited his stomach as he rose from his chair and headed to the kitchen, hungry from not eating for hours. Humming echoed through the hallways as Eddie's mom was working over the stove to prepare dinner. Turning her head after hearing Eddie's footsteps, she gave a smile that glew brightly as she sat him down in the dining room.

"Are you doing ok honey? You were in your room for an awfully long time today."

"Yeah, today was a bit rough but I managed to get Evan to the late game."

Eddie's mom gave him a warm smile before looking back at the food she was preparing while listening to Eddie ramble about how he managed to get Evan so far into the game. She lifted a plate full of food and placed it down in front of Eddie as he happily dug into the food.

After eating, Eddie stood and helped his mother with the dishes as the front door opened and closed, letting footsteps follow from the hallway. His father appeared, hair slicked back and the collar from his suit pulled. He sat down at the dining room and took a deep breath, thanking his wife as she served him dinner.

"How is job searching Ed?"

His voice sounded firm holding authority and power. Eddie sighed quietly to himself since this question came up almost daily when his father returned home from work.

"You can't keep mooching off of us forever Ed. Someday you will have to start working again."

Eddie refused to look back towards his father who most likely held a hostile gaze, staring at the dish and washcloth he held in his hand hoping he would zone out his father who refused to let up with the questions.

"Maybe you can work at the gas station nearby Eddie. I know the lady that owns the store and know she's hiring." his mother suggested, placing her hand onto his shoulder.

"How long will you baby him?"

Eddie clenched his teeth as he finished washing the last dish and walked over to his room, closing the door as his mother pleaded with him to talk to her. After a few minutes, the house went silent as Eddie sat back down to his chair and returned to the death screen. He scrolled over to see the one remaining life left before he had to buy more. Pulling out his phone, Eddie stared at his empty bank account as he leaned back into his chair once again, unable to afford any more lives.

'Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to make a game where you have to pay to retry if you die? If not for this I swear this game could be popular!'

He looked back at the screen before sitting up and clicking over the restart button. This time Eddie was determined to get Evan's ending with this last life. As his character loaded in, Evan rose from his bed and sprinted to the door as Eddie instructed as a dagger flew through the window of his bedroom stabbing Evan in the back.

A sharp pain pierced Eddie's lung as he collapsed from his chair and began coughing blood as a dark red spot began to emerge from the front of his shirt. Another wound jabbed into his neck as his neck split open, causing blood to leak everywhere and his vision to blur.

'It hurts! It hurts! It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!'

Eddie's eyes began to betray him as an unfamiliar roof began to show instead of the white roof of his room. Looming over him now seemed to be a person who's face was shrouded in darkness while a dagger emerged from the cloak he wore. The cloaked man began to peek yet his words made no sense as his dagger swiftly swung down towards his face.

In an instant, Eddie rose from his bed screaming out in pain and fear as he gripped his neck expecting more blood to leak from it, yet it was dry.

Eddie rose as his surroundings were not of his room yet seemed familiar. After walking past a mirror he quickly rushed back as a man unrecognizable stood before him. Eddie raised his hands to his face and pressed against his face as the man in the mirror did the same thing. After a bit more touching, Eddie fell backwards as his mind began to race back to his Honored Knights Unveiled.

As Eddie rose to his feet, he was now confident in his predicament. Eddie had taken over the body of Evan Asteria, the early game villain who was destined to die.

Suddenly, Evans bedroom door opened as a butler entered and looked at the bewildered Even who was still in his pajamas.

"Young master Evan, it seems you are awake and well. I suggest you get dressed for your fiance is waiting in the lounge."

I sat back onto my bed as the butler left, leaving me to grip my head at the situation.

"Im so fucked!"
