Chapter 2 - Marriage Negotiations

Evan's Closet was quite big, filled with noble clothing. Evan salivated over the outfits as most of them were cool and fancy. After dressing up, Evan walked over towards the mirror and began to check himself out as he slicked back his hair like it always was in the game.

He seemed to be in his mid 16's and quite good looking for someone who was considered filth. Evan exited his bedroom and began making his way towards the lounge. The hallways were massive in size and held most likely valuable portraits of the Asteria family and expensive looking vases.

Amongst the paintings Evan could barely count the ones that held himself in them. A rushing feeling of disgust formed within himself when he stared at the painting, causing him to walk away down towards the hallways as he made his way towards the lounge once more.

'Everything is exactly like it is in the games. If thats fully true… then that means "She" will be there.'

Evan took a deep breath as he placed his hands on the double doors and swung them open as a beautiful woman sat politely on the couch awaiting him. Walking towards her, Evan took a breath before sitting down and asking for some tea as a maid walked out to prepare it.

"Its been a while Evan." The woman spoke, taking a sip of her drink with elegance.

"It has, hasn't it Lady Fontair."

Evan gives her a small smile as he grabs the cup of tea given to him by the maid and takes a sip, quenching his thirst. He looks back up at Lady Fontair who was as beautiful as she was in the game, with her black hair flowing down to her back that complimented her red eyes that could pierce a man's soul if wanted. Evan shook his head as he looked her in the eyes.

"So what can I do you for today Lady Fontair. It must be something quite important for you to be traveling all the way here from the capital." Evan said, taking another sip of his tea, yet still paying attention to her.

"Well I was in the neighborhood and decided to check up on my fiance who had recently gotten himself into some trouble with his family and was wondering what actually happened." She said, glaring at me while giving a fake smile.

In the prologue of Honored Knights Unveiled for Evan Asteria's story, it was said that Evan had been caught hiring a mercenary to beat and humiliate his younger brother Talon which had failed.

The mercenary ratted Evan out and his father humiliated Evan publicly to teach him a lesson. Eddie always thought it was dumb that Evan would hire someone for the job instead of using someone useful that could be maipulated, but nevertheless that was Evan's situation.

The reason Lady Fontair was here was to break the marriage arrangement between two and ruin Evan even more since he would be responsible. She was using the prior incident as leverage to remove herself without much trouble, and it in fact works really well in the game.

"If you're concerned about the mercenary incident between my younger brother and I, then you are worrying about the wrong thing, Lady Fontair."

She raises her eyebrow, placing down the tea cup and looking at Evan with a condescending smirk. Looking at him for an explanation, she glares, slowly losing her patience.

"You plan to break the marriage contract with the excuse of using the incident between my brother and I as leverage so others would think I'm a piece of scum correct?"

"You're quite sharp Evan, however you mistake one thing. You ARE scum." She says with a stern voice, looking down on him as she reaches for her cup.

"Your right, I am. This scum also knows of your deficiency of mana and with it, you won't be able to enroll in any high status academies."

Her eyes flinch before regressing back to her usual glare.

"I have no idea what you are on about, and even if I were to know you only fuel my desire to separate from you at once."

"I understand how you feel, but you must understand the situation I am currently in. If this marriage contract were to fall through, that wouldn't be very beneficial to me, hence why I would like to offer something that would bring both you and myself something of value." Evan says, leaning forward.

She looks at him somewhat angry at first before her face falls back to neutral, now listening to what he had to offer.

"Theres a special amulet that will be sold within a certain place. Although looking dull and just like a piece of jewelry, it in fact holds a vast amount of mana. I've actually had my eye on it for a while, thinking of acquiring it to assist me when I enroll in an academy but since you've sprung this on me, I might as well let you get it." Evan spoke as her eyes looked at him, trying to analyze his every movement.

After staring at Evan for a while, she sighs and leans back into the couch, most likely realizing he was not lying.

"So what do you want in return for this information?" She asked.

"Nothing big really. I just require insurance from you that you wont break our little deal here. I want your family's crest." Evan said with confidence.

She looks at him for a moment before reluctantly sliding over a ring that held the crest of a crow. Evan, excited, reached out for the ring before promptly being stopped by her as she stood tall over him.

"First, the information." She spoke, staring down at Evan with eyes of disgust.

Evan nodded and began writing down the details with exact precision, sliding down the letter towards her. After reading it she began to look back up at Evan, then back down towards the letter before rising from the couch and tossing the ring into Evan's hands.

"If a single thing on this paper is false, I promise you won't see the rising sun when you wake up." She said, before walking out of the room leaving Evan alone with his thoughts.

After a bit of waiting, Evan inspected the ring that was handed to him, before smiling hard and placed the ring onto his finger.

'I did it! With this I would be able to survive at least 3 more stages!'

The engagement between Lady Fontair and Evan was crucial within the early game for it was the main issue that had led Evan to dying within the first missions.

With the ring secured onto his finger Evan walked out of the room only to be met with Talon standing by the door, with a cold look in his eyes.
