"Reinforce the fourth line of defense completely! Pass down my exact words to the entire army. I want every brother to hear this."
"Brothers, this is Guo Zhenfeng. Right now, our Northern Army Corps is under an unprecedented and terrifying assault. But remember this—behind us lies the open plains of the Douluo Continent, countless citizens of the Federation, our bustling cities, and most importantly, our families and friends. We are the final barrier protecting the mainland. If we fall, it will be mass devastation. I am heading to the front lines immediately, and I will fight beside all of you on the front edge. This final defensive line is the lifeline of those we love. What we must do now is use our lives to protect it. No more words. From this moment on, I am not your Corps Commander. I am your brother in life and death. As long as I have breath in me, I, Guo Zhenfeng, will not retreat a single step. I will stand with the Northern Front. For the Federation! For our families! For our blood and honor! Hold the line! Fight to the death!"
Guo Zhenfeng finished his impassioned speech and immediately issued orders to the entire army. He turned around swiftly.
"All combat personnel, follow me to the front line!"
"Commander, you can't go personally. We still need you here to command and coordinate! And what if headquarters sends orders?" A figure rushed up—it was Guo Zhenfeng's staff officer.
Guo Zhenfeng's voice was cold. "We've already reported everything to the military command. My duty to report has been fulfilled. You've followed me for years. You've seen how I usually command, and frankly, there's nothing left to command. You're staying here to relay everything that happens on the front line to headquarters. Whether we survive depends on when reinforcements arrive. As the Northern Army's Corps Commander, I must stand with my brothers now. As a Federation officer, I will not cower in the rear."
"Commander!" The staff officer's eyes turned red. "Then I'll go with you. I want to be with the brothers too."
"Don't be stupid. You're more useful here. With your measly skills, going up front would just be offering yourself up. Quit talking nonsense and stay." With that, Guo Zhenfeng strode outside, straightened his military cap.
All the officers and soldiers of the Northern Army snapped to attention and saluted him.
"We swear to live and die with the line!"
Guo Zhenfeng's message was like a shot of adrenaline, spreading through the entire Northern Army.
When a leader charges into the fray, it may mean death—but it also births legends.
…
Boom!
A massive demonic palm covered the sky, crashing down toward Gu You.
"Break!" Gu You roared as he slashed his purple-gold Dragon God Halberd, releasing a cascade of radiant energy.
The Golden Dragon Spear could no longer suppress the Abyssal Sovereign. Even its devouring properties had lost effectiveness. Now, only the Dragon God Halberd—his true weapon—could unleash his full strength.
"Human, do you really think flying out of the Douluo Plane means you can escape?"
Clash!
Waves of energy exploded outward as Gu You accelerated his ascent.
"Faster, faster!" He clenched his jaw. The frigid air around him was biting—he was already breaching the stratosphere, nearly into space.
Ever since the disappearance of the Douluo God Realm, humanity's technology had reached the stars.
With no more restrictions, as long as one was strong enough, they could leave the Douluo Plane and enter the cosmos.
Gu You's current strategy was to lure the Abyssal Sovereign into space. By buying time, he could continue breaking his internal seals to resist further.
Suddenly, the atmosphere trembled violently.
'You want to destroy me? Try it, then! Let's see if you have the power!'
Gu You's form changed—his wings extended wide, and the divine aura of destruction surged through the upper layer of the atmosphere.
In a blink, a dragon nearly ten thousand meters long appeared.
Roar!
Wings like mountains spread open, and violet pupils gleamed with disdain for all things.
'Let this battle grow even more intense!'
…
"Old Cao! Stop burning your life force, or you'll truly perish!"
Zhang Huanyun wiped the blood from his lips.
"My Unfeeling Sword is sheathed—I can't hold them back!" Unfeeling Douluo's face was pale. He swept his sword outward, sending terrifying waves of sword energy into the masses of abyssal creatures.
With each sweep, countless abyssal beasts fell.
"My old friend, stop now. I've come to take your place!"
Unfeeling Douluo's eyes widened. He looked behind him—
Twelve hours later.
Northern Front.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Countless artillery shells exploded across the battlefield. The Northern Front wasn't flat terrain—it was a series of elevated, fortified hills arranged to cross-cover each other. Every hilltop was armed with heavy weapons and guarded by troops. The entire region formed a tight, comprehensive defense system.
The north was filled with glaciers and perilous peaks.
To reach the mainland from the Extreme North, one had to pass through these icy peaks. This was the only chokepoint. All other paths led into frozen oceans, populated by powerful aquatic soul beasts.
Now, in this decisive location, wave after wave of abyssal creatures surged like tides, battering the final defensive line of the Northern Army.
At the point of contact, gray mist continuously rose into the sky—that was the residual energy of fallen abyssal creatures.
Since joining the army, Guo Zhenfeng had never seen war like this—never fought an enemy that never grew tired.
In normal warfare, after a period of engagement, both sides would pause to regroup. After all, stamina was limited.
But these abyssal monsters were different. Their assault had been constant from the moment it began. It was terrifying—an endless flood, relentless and unyielding.
Under the command of some particularly strong abyssal overlords, these creatures were colder than machines. They felt no fear, no pain—only blind advance, endlessly throwing themselves at the cannons until they became clouds of gray mist.
When Guo Zhenfeng finally arrived at the front line and saw these monsters with his own eyes, he finally understood why the earlier defense lines had collapsed so quickly.
