"Blood God Legion in danger! Blood God Legion in danger! Abyssal defense line has been fully breached! Abyssal defense line has been fully breached!"
Just a few repeated messages—
And yet, those very few words, at this moment, raced at unspeakable speed across the entire Federation Military Command, even reaching all three continents!
"Ming-ge!"
"Yali, this concerns the safety of the entire plane. We've all received the same alert. Shrek cannot retreat when righteousness calls. Summon all core members of the Inner Council—prepare to face the abyssal crisis!"
Ten beams of light shot into the sky from Shrek Academy, transforming into silhouettes that vanished instantly…
At the Spirit Pagoda, three terrifying auras soared skyward, tearing through space as they sped toward the front.
In the Hall of War Gods, Hanhai Douluo Chen Xinjie, with his aged face, sighed deeply. "So the day has finally come. It's a shame that even in my long life, I couldn't fulfill all my visions. I only hope the Federation Army can gather quickly. A hundred Titled Douluos alone cannot stop the Abyssal Plane."
With that, more than ten beams of light blasted skyward.
…
Northern Legion Headquarters
"What is this!?"
"Ahhh!"
"All personnel on alert! All personnel on alert!"
Countless abyssal creatures surged up from beneath the frozen snowy terrain.
…
The emergence of abyssal creatures in the Northern Legion sent shockwaves through the highest levels of the Federation!
No one had expected that just after receiving one explosive report, yet another would follow so quickly.
Who would have thought the Abyssal Plane could simultaneously open two separate passageways?
One linking to the far north where the Northern Legion was stationed, and the other to the Blood God Legion in the Northern Endless Mountains.
The Northern Legion immediately began deploying defensive lines. The North Sea Legion mobilized at once, and war supplies were being transported north by every possible means and at lightning speed.
…
Across the continent, the storm was rising. All eight of the Federation's major legions began mobilizing. Aside from essential reserve forces, all war supplies and weaponry were rapidly reallocated and dispatched toward the front lines.
Due to the Federation's information lockdown, the general public had no idea that the entire continent now stood on the brink of life or death. They continued living their quiet, habitual lives. But for those who looked closely, they'd begin to notice something strange—on certain highways and key transit corridors, military convoys sped northward in tight formation.
Northern Legion Command Center
"What did you just say? Say that again!" roared a middle-aged man in a crisp uniform with two general stars on his shoulder, bellowing into his military communicator with rage.
"General, the... the third defensive line has fallen. We can't hold them back! Requesting reinforcements, requesting reinforcements! They're too terrifying, too insane. We can't hold them! They're charging without regard for life, like an endless sea! Reinforcements—we need reinforcements now!"
"You hold that line! No matter what, you hold it!" General Guo Zhenfeng snapped off the communicator, but his expression had already grown grim.
As the commander of the Northern Legion, Guo Zhenfeng was considered one of the most promising rising stars in the military.
At just forty-five years old, he'd already attained the rank of lieutenant general. Regardless of how much family influence contributed, it was still a testament to his individual capabilities. To be one of the eight legion commanders—he was without question one of the true pillars of the Federation's military.
By comparison, the Northern Legion was considered the weakest among the eight major legions, because their usual adversary was also considered the least threatening.
Stationed to defend the extreme northern frontier, their primary duty had been guarding the Extreme North's icy plains—regions with no value for development, but which were home to ancient lines of powerful ice-type soul beasts. These beasts were cohesive and occasionally emerged to hunt. The Northern Legion's task was to keep them in check. As a result, their combat strength and troop numbers were relatively limited.
Even so, the Northern Legion still fielded six full divisions. Including combat and support personnel, they numbered over 100,000 strong—an indisputable full corps-level force.
When they first received the report from a patrol unit about abyssal creatures in the Extreme North, Guo Zhenfeng's first reaction was disbelief.
Even with limited understanding of abyssal beasts, he knew they resided in the Endless Mountains. How could they possibly appear this far north?
Still, erring on the side of caution, he immediately dispatched one of his mech divisions to investigate.
But never in his worst nightmares did he expect the catastrophe that followed.
Less than an hour after deployment, that entire mech division was wiped out.
During their approach, they'd been ambushed—overwhelmed by an uncountable tide of enemies erupting from every direction. In mere moments, they were engulfed.
Yes, the Northern Legion's mech divisions weren't as elite as other regions, but they were still fully equipped divisions! And yet they'd been devoured like dust in the wind. The scale of the loss was staggering—and utterly unthinkable. How was he going to explain this to the Central Military Command?
Fortunately, Guo Zhenfeng demonstrated the composure of a seasoned general. He calmed himself, sent urgent requests for reinforcements to the command center, and forwarded all available intel immediately. At the same time, he ordered the remaining five divisions to establish five fortified defensive lines between the Extreme North and the interior. All remaining resources were redeployed for defense.
But once again, reality struck harder than expected.
Despite establishing five reinforced lines using fixed defense systems, within just a few hours, three of them had already fallen.
Three defensive lines!
That meant more than half of the Northern Legion's entire force had been wiped out—including logistics, support, and engineering units.
In less than a day—no, just a few short hours—tens of thousands had died!
The Northern Legion's soul-guided arsenal was vast—countless offensive weapons, including three strategic-grade ninth-level soul-guided fixed artillery shells.
All three had been launched. And each time, they only slightly delayed the enemy tide.
But the abyssal creatures kept coming—again and again, like the crashing of an unstoppable tsunami.
The communicator from earlier had come from Guo Zhenfeng's own deputy commander—who had been stationed at the front lines personally.
He knew that man better than anyone—an iron-blooded soldier. If he was begging for reinforcements… then they were truly at the brink.
"Transmit my order! All units on the fifth defensive line are to fall back and regroup at the fourth line. We must consolidate our forces and prepare for an all-out defense!"
