"You're not thinking clearly about this!" I snapped, pacing across our penthouse living room while Damien stood by the windows, his jaw set in that stubborn way that meant he thought he was protecting me from something I was perfectly capable of handling myself.
"I'm thinking clearly enough to know that flying to Tokyo while six months pregnant with Marcus Blackwood's trap waiting for us is insane," he shot back, turning to face me with those gray eyes blazing. "Isabella, you're carrying our child. That changes everything."
"I'm not six months pregnant!" The words came out sharper than I'd intended, my voice rising with frustration at his overprotective nonsense. "I'm barely showing, I feel fine, and I'm certainly capable of handling a business trip to—"
