Still shaken by the memory of last night, Ayla's brain temporarily shut down, making her not present enough to hear Lyanna's voice behind her.
All of a sudden, the warm hands around her slipped away, and the man stepped out of the light into Lyanna's sight.
Ezra looked her over briefly before he glanced at the corridor casually.
"I was just telling Mrs. Locke how this hotel is too big to wander around aimlessly."
Although surprised to see him, Lyanna chuckled.
"You're absolutely right, sir. I got tired and came out to stretch my legs, only to get lost halfway."
Glancing at Ayla one last time, Ezra slipped a hand into his pocket and turned around to leave.
"Well then, if you'll excuse me."
"Have a good night's rest, Chairman Hale." Lyanna beamed.
As soon as he left, she nudged Ayla and hissed, "You saw him at the airport this morning, why are you so surprised to see him now?"
"W-what?" Ayla blurted out, truly not hearing what she said.
