## Title: Blood and Shadows
"Get up," I said, my voice shaking. "Please, just get up."
The man – whoever he was – stayed on one knee like I was some kind of royalty. Which was insane. I was nobody. A wolfless fraud who'd just been run out of her pack.
"I don't understand," I continued when he didn't move. "You're making a mistake."
"There is no mistake, Lady Moonshadow." He finally stood, but his eyes never left my face. "You carry the blood of the first Alphas. The original line that ruled before the Great Division."
My legs felt weak. "That's impossible. My parents were nobody special. Just pack members."
"Your parents lied to protect you." His voice was gentle but firm. "As did their parents before them, and theirs before them. Your bloodline has been hidden for centuries, waiting for the right time to emerge."
I backed away from him until my shoulders hit the tunnel wall. "You're crazy. This is all crazy."
