During his stay at kyoshi island he taught the kyoshi warriors chi blocking and learned their judo-like martial art mastering it quickly.
After this he just did his daily training to not get rusty and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this place.
He missed this kind of peace without any intrigues or war.
As a king of reward he even got a special kyoshi warrior uniform just for him...in a normal male version of course without this heavy make up and the long robes and just wide black pants.
Suki had become the new leader of the kyoshi warriors and he mostly spent his days with chi-training and meditation.
He also kind of discovered painting and music for himself so he learned to play the flute with a self crafted instrument carved out of wood.
Well he didn't want to brag but he grew up to be quite handsome with his wild black hair and bright blue eyes.
He was now 15 years old and just enjoying the quiet life in Kyoshi.
But all that came crashing down when team avatar finally arrived.
"How do we know you aren't fire nation spy's?" the village elder questioned them "Kyoshi has stayed out of the war and we intend to keep it that way"
"Village chief calm down" Akira said as he arrived "this is the one I told you about when I arrived. This is the boy I saw in my vision"
"You are telling me this idiot is the Avatar?" the village chief said pointing at Sokka.
"No the other one with the arrow tattos" Akira said and cut their ropes to free them.
"Haha hello" Aang said and Sokka looked at Akira curiously.
"How did you know he was the avatar?" Sokka asked.
"I had a vision a few years ago that I should go to kyoshi island and wait for a little boy with air nomads tattos to arrive and help him in his quest to end this war" Akira said "I am Akira, pleased to meet you"
"I am Aang, this is Katara and Sokka of the southern water tribe" Aang said.
"Ha I knew it. There is no way a few girls could beat me. It must have been him who kidnapped us" Sokka said.
"No the girls are more than enough to take care of you" Akira just said innocently causing Katara to chuckle.
"Hey Aang can I see your flying bison?" Akira said excited "I've never seen a flying bison!"
"Sure, his name is Appa by the way" Aang said and showed him the giant ten tons fluffy monster.
"So soft" Akira said as he pettet Appa and the giant bison then licked him from top to bottom drenching him in salvia but Akira didn't mind.
"He seems to like you" Aang said smiling.
"Ah you are an airbender right? Can you get this off me?" Akira asked looking at his salvia covered clothes.
"Oh of course!" Aang said and blasted a strong gust of wind at him that left his hair in a mess.
"Thanks for showing me Appa, how about I show you around the village?" Akira offered while putting his hair back to normal.
"That would be nice of you" Katara said looking at him with interest.
Well it was normal. He was the first guy in her age group who wasn't Sokka or had a bald head with an arrow on his head since the south pole was really isolated.
He showed team Avatar around the village with Momo flying behind them.
It was quite fun hanging around with them, they were quite a lively bunch.
He showed them the statue of Avatar Kyoshi, the shrine and where they could stay and slowly befriended them.
It was really funny to see Aang being chased around by little fangirls.
"Hey, you wouldn't mind if I join you on your journey?" Akira asked and helped Katara carry the proviant.
"It's a dangerous journey, are you sure you want to come with us?" Katara asked.
"I had a vision how I joined the avatar and helped him defeat the dangers that await him in the future. Don't worry, I am well aware of the danger" Akira said intending to keep his firebending a secret for now.
"Alright then you're welcome. Aang needs every help he can get" Katara smiled and gathered more fruits.
"You said you came to Kyoshi because of this vision right? Where did you live before comming here?" Katara said and Akira just sighed.
Forget keeping his firebending a secret.
"You know I am quite famous especialy in the fire nation. I was part of the royalty of the fire nation before I deserted and caused a rebellion to start against the cruel rule of Ozai" he said and Katara looked at him in shock "I am propably the most wanted man in the entire fire nation"
"That's a lot to take in, let me think this over alone" Katara said and walked away but Akira smiled.
He knew he had her. She would likely discuss this with Sokka and Aang and the kind-hearted Avatar would decide to give him a chance.
So without paying her any mind he just went to his house and started to meditate with a candle in front of him.
He did this from time to time to relax.
Then Sokka came into his house and looked at him skeptical.
"Katara said you wanted to join us in our journey" he said in a bossy tone "come with me, we want to know a bit more about you before we decide"
Akira followed him and entered the house team Avatar was staying with them sitting on a table and looking at him judgingly.
"Katara told us that you want to join us" Aang said and smiled "welcome!"
"Not so fast Aang he is the most wanted man of the fire nation, who knows what atrocities he had committed before comming here?" Katara said.
"Do you think the kyoshi warriors would let him stay if he was a bad person? I don't think so. The kyoshi warriors are people who value justice and honour the most" Aang said and Akira just nodded.
"Alright then tell us, why are you the most wanted man in the fire nation" Katara said in an angry voice as if looking to prove her point.
"Six years ago I was the crown prince of the fire nation the son of Iroh. Then my uncle Ozai started a plot to forcefully take the throne. My older brother died in the war. My father was devasted at his death and mourned. That was when Ozai saw his opportunity. He tried to get rid of any obstacles that could challenge his claim to the throne after Azulon mysteriously died. Every day I was in the palace I was served poisoned food before I decided to rebel. I took my loyal guards and raided the treasury of the palace to hinder Ozai to gain power too quickly and then ran away to Asokoh island where I started a rebellion with the military base I had under my command.
Soon other rebels joined us and the rebellion grew before I fled the war to live here on Kyoshi island" Akira explained "If you consider this a crime then I don't want to join you"
Katara now looked guilty and hugged him with tears in her eyes "I'm so sorry, I had no idea"
"Okay, I don't see a problem with you joining but you need to answer one more question" Aang said and smiled "You aren't a firebender by any chance?"
Akira just sighed and lit up his palm with the normal red fire.
"Hey cool, he can teach Aang firebending" Sokka said but Akira raised his hand.
"Forget about that. I won't teach him before he hasn't mastered water and earth" Akira said.
"Why?" Aang asked immediately confused.
"The learning of the for elements isn't just about controling fire or water it's also a spiritual learning on a much deeper level. There is a reason why the avatar learns the elements in a certain order, it's to keep his mind and soul balanced" he told them "I will teach you, but only after you are ready"
"Come on I am ready!" Aang said "I promise I..."
"I said forget it!" Akira shouted.
"If you learn fire without the neccessairy control you will destroy anything around you" he said seriously and Aang became sad.
"You didn't have to yell at him" Katare said and comforted Aang.
"He needs to understand why I acted this way. Before he doesn't he isn't ready" Akira just said unmoved "Let's first go to the northern water tribe to learn waterbending. After this I know who can help us with earthbending. And only after he has mastered earth I will teach him how to control fire. Got it?"
Aang nodded slowly and pushed Katara away "It's fine Katara".
After this he walked outside with Momo on his shoulder.
