Berith took his demons and retreated back to the park where he was summoned. He kept his word and kept all demons under his control from rampaging around the city.
Matthew came back to the Tower to find the injured being healed and the dead being separated for being transported.
"How many did we lose?" He asked a soldier carrying the last body from the walls.
"Nineteen. 6 soldiers. The others were adventurers." The soldier said. without stopping his feet.
"They died heroes." Another soldier added, almost in tears.
Matthew found a place to sit and soon Faynn and Ffyr came to him.
"It worked." Faynn smiled at Matthew.
"Yeah." He took a deep breath, tired. "When he told me about the Scholar's Mate I could see he was focusing too much on me. But you are truly impressive. Not even a demon duke could sense your presence." He praised the elven spy.
"Don't forget about me! If I weren't there it wouldn't have worked." Ffyr said triumphantly.
