How do you kill a Dimensional Lord? If you ask Doctor Strange that question, his answer would be: you can't kill them.
The essence of a Dimensional Lord has fundamentally changed; their spiritual energy is merged with their dimension. In essence, those dimensions are them. However, there are still ways to deal with a Dimensional Lord. For a relevant example, look at Knull: the living abyss can also be considered a dimension, although it's actually a collective consciousness network spanning the entire Multiverse and residing in the dark side of life.
But the principle is the same. Knull is immortal and can gradually resurrect even if killed, but Knull can fundamentally be banished—by severing Belasco's nascent physical body from Limbo, thereby banishing him from the dimension.
"As long as that nascent body isn't dead, he cannot fully return to Limbo."
Returning to Limbo, the Depressed Strange acknowledged Strange's proposal, then took a deep breath. "The only problem is that here, Belasco is much stronger, and the technique you just used has, without a doubt, been used before. Spatial slicing can be circumvented with magic."
"Yes, Belasco, the greatest black magic master of the 13th century. Do you know what that means?"
Strange asked his depressed counterpart the question. Depressed Strange replied, "It means he will use the most violent methods."
"No, it means he will use the least creative methods against us."
Strange said, looking behind him. Not many people came: just the X-Men and the Avengers, along with the two original survivors of Limbo and the demonized Illyana. The reason for bringing so few people was that...
A blast of crimson magic struck the group. The golden Shield of the Seraphim blocked a round of the bloody gale.
"That's Belasco's Crimson Storm. All the spells he has researched over the years are focused obsessively on how to kill people. So, the biggest role for me and the other Strange is to help you resist his black magic. Here, the power of the Vishanti is weakened, but any power related to black magic is amplified."
And black magic involves spells of soul corruption, damage, and plunder. As the Avengers and X-Men advanced, they saw torrents of dimensional energy and black magic continuously battering the barriers set up by the two Sorcerer Supremes.
But neither the ordinary demons nor the corrupted X-Men followed them. Belasco understood very well that the wasteland universe was a conduit to Earth-616, so the invasion of the wasteland universe had not stopped; the battle was still ongoing there.
"We're here," said Blade, taking off his glasses and looking at the colossal demonic palace before them. Belasco's aesthetics were at least respectable; he didn't construct a palace of bones or gore. The Royal Palace of Limbo was a very solid, black marble palace, a dark, oppressive place built in the 13th-century Gothic architectural style.
The narrow roads, the dark atmosphere, the perpetual crimson sky of Limbo, and the skeletons of Illyana Rasputina lining the steps made the entire place truly bizarre.
Tony stepped ahead of the Captain, turning on the lights of his Silver Centurion armor to illuminate the path. He then turned to the others. "What's wrong? Does anyone else have a light?"
"It's dangerous, Tony."
"I don't know what's so dangerous about a Shakespearean who wears his own skin as clothes, Captain. Besides, the Wizards can guarantee our safety."
Tony shrugged and took the lead. The group proceeded up the path and finally saw Belasco in the palace hall, still resting on his throne after his partial recovery.
"The great Web of Destiny, the power of the World Weaver—that can indeed erase the existence of most matter, but it no longer affects me."
Belasco stood up. He had already defended himself with spatial magic. Now, even Peter's dimensional slice couldn't cut his physical body. The only serious threats left were two weapons: Thor's Mjolnir and Illyana's Soulsword.
As for Strange, unless he planned to abandon the protection of the others, he couldn't attack.
"Then come! You thought I was a joke and a fool, did you? Then try to drag me off my throne!"
Belasco drew a long sword—his Soulsword, a blade crafted from a portion of his soul that he discarded when he merged his spirit with Limbo. Depressed Strange gasped upon seeing the weapon. "Everyone be careful! The Soulsword can bypass magic! It can penetrate physical defenses!"
"In other words, as long as we don't let him get close, we're fine, right?"
Tony immediately opened fire, blasting Belasco with every weapon he had. As the smoke cleared, Belasco was seen advancing, step by step, supported by a blood-red magic shield. Tony shrugged helplessly.
"I'm out of ideas. Who's next?"
Hulk charged forward, leaped in front of Belasco, and roared as he delivered a series of furious strikes. Belasco blocked Hulk's continuous smashing with his energy shield, then thrust the Soulsword through Hulk's external defensive spell.
But Hulk only grew angrier, continuing to relentlessly pound Belasco. Finally, Belasco summoned a gigantic demonic arm with a single strike, grabbing Hulk and tossing him aside.
Let that monster play with my subordinates for a while...
Watching the others charge toward him, Belasco gripped the long sword in one hand and his shield in the other, shouting, "Who's next!"
Then, Thor charged in.
"Excellent, good! I will show you what a Dimensional Lord truly is! Even if I'm worthless elsewhere, this is my domain, my world! I AM LIMBO!"
Belasco raised his shield, blocked Thor's heavy blow, and then plunged the burning Soulsword into Thor's body, pulling it out without any blood, and roared in fury.
"And you treat me like a joke?"
"Now I will make you know who the real joke is!"
