"That child is turning her soul into a weapon!"
Decadent Strange (a variant of Doctor Strange) shrieked sharply upon seeing this. "Stop her! She won't be able to turn back into a human!"
"A longsword forged from one's own soul and life force is the best choice against a magical creature. She is a clever girl." Strange (the primary one) didn't see any issue. In this situation, using necromancy to perform dark magic, creating a weapon that could harm Belasco using the energy of her own passing life, was actually an excellent choice.
It was just... a bit inhumane.
"Are you insane?! The child doesn't need to do that!"
"That is her choice. She is fighting for her anger."
Strange ignored his other self, watching Illyana, in her Demon form, duel Belasco with swordsmanship. The matchup was undeniably one-sided: on one side, a novice sorceress who had learned swordsmanship from Wolverine for three years and gained experience by killing demons; on the other, a dimensional demon god who had lived for tens of thousands of years.
If not for the fact that her sword could actually harm Belasco, and with Thor shouldering most of the fight with the demon, Illyana would have had no chance to wound Belasco.
They still needed to find a way to completely deal with Belasco, or at least a means to permanently drive him back to hell, which required a method that could actually harm him.
What method could achieve this?
Strange quickly found his answer.
It was at this moment that Kitty Pryde, who had been pushed away, realized why the demonic Shadowcat had pushed her. That demon, having dealt with Belasco for countless years, knew the danger and chose to confront him herself, or perhaps she simply wished to die, which was why she pushed Kitty away.
Now, while that demon was fighting Thor and another demon...
Just as Kitty was preparing to act, Strange's voice suddenly echoed in her mind: "Kitty Pryde, I need you to find Spider-Man."
"Oh, okay... wait, I thought I had psychic resistance when I phased?"
"This is Projection magic, not telepathy."
"Alright, cool." Kitty understood what Strange wanted her to do and asked, "What about the amulet?"
"Forget the amulet for now. We need to defeat the enemy, and that requires your power."
In fact, going for the amulet now might further provoke Belasco. Due to the shift in the timeline, the current Magik might not be able to defeat Belasco directly.
So Strange had prepared a backup plan.
"Find Spider-Man. Tell him to take out Belasco. Remember, you need to bring Spider-Man to do this."
Huh? Spider-Man? Not Thor or the Hulk or you?
Kitty's brain stalled for a few seconds, but she decided not to dwell on the details and simply complied.
She moved through the battlefield, watching the Hulk smash a gigantic demon, and Emma Frost use her telepathy to control and dispatch other demonic variants of herself.
She quickly found Spider-Man, who was fighting a large group of demons alongside another Spider-Person named Silk and an unknown Spider-Woman.
"Spider-Man? Sorcerer Strange needs you to take out Belasco."
Peter, who was using Venom to form blades on his hands to cut down demons, heard this and felt profound confusion. He looked at Kitty repeatedly before asking, "Are you sure?"
"Um, yes?"
Peter was about to ask more, but Strange's voice was transmitted to him as well, making Peter instantly understand what Strange intended.
"Cindy, um, I might need you to pull me back in a moment."
Cindy, who was fighting a demon, tilted her head but nodded despite her confusion. Then, a portal opened right in front of Peter and Kitty.
"Alright, how do we do this? Jump through the portal?"
Kitty felt both nervous and excited. Belasco was unlike any enemy she had encountered; he could actually hit her.
This meant she was in danger, which only excited her more.
But Peter vetoed her small idea.
"No, we have another way."
With that, Peter tore open a spatial rift with effort.
Almost simultaneously, Belasco was fighting Thor, who wielded two Mjolnirs. Despite crushing the weakest Mjolnir, Thor's combat power hadn't waned, and though Illyana's strength was lacking, her sword was highly problematic.
Belasco held his own sword, parrying attacks from both Thor and Illyana.
It was at that moment that a portal opened right behind Belasco.
Belasco instantly realized the danger, instinctively turning and releasing a powerful burst of Hellfire energy. Thor defended with his body, and Illyana teleported away, causing Belasco to once again incinerate his surroundings.
Even the Sling Ring portal was consumed by the Hellfire.
Peter was waiting for this exact moment.
The instant the Hellfire died down, Peter tore open his spatial rift and emerged. Belasco reacted quickly, lashing out with a claw strike toward Peter, but Peter's left hand was being held by Kitty.
Belasco's hand, having just released the Hellfire, passed harmlessly through Peter's phasing body.
Then, Peter's hand, right in front of Belasco, pulled forcefully.
Space fractured like shattered glass, breaking apart. Half of Belasco was completely ripped away. He seemed barely affected, his remaining half still preparing to attack.
Then, Thor roared, gripping his Mjolnirs, and slammed them with full force into Belasco's half-chest. Illyana immediately followed, slicing off half of his head with her sword.
"This is not over yet."
Belasco's falling half-head declared, "You can never kill a dimensional demon god!"
"You're right, this is not over yet."
Strange said, opening a door to Limbo with his Sling Ring, looking at the heroes.
"We prevented a demon's plan to invade our dimension. Do you know what to do next?"
"Make sure this bastard can never invade our world again. Now, I'm going to his lair, to find him, sever his connection to Limbo, and destroy him completely."
Strange asked one last question.
"Who's in?"
